[edit] Walkthrough

The best strategy is to start out at Temple of the Ages and run back to Dragon's Gullet. The Charr lords are fairly easy to take down in both the Corridor and Gullet areas. Pull them to you and stay away from the patrolling areas. Take down one group at a time and you should have no problem. Once you are in Dragon's Gullet It is best to build your morale Boost to +10% before you go straight for the Titans.

It is easiest to go to the southeastern shore and enter the lake there. There is a resurrection shrine not far to the south east from there. If you attack the Titan Lords from that position and die it puts you closer to the lake than all the way back at the beginning.

When you reach the Lake proceed through it slowly as there are 3 major threats.

First, you have to deal with a 30% reduction in speed from the Tar. This is constant and will remain as long as you are in the lake.

Second, there are patrols of smaller titans and Sparks of the Titans. These patrols are a priority before you get to the final destination at the center of the lake. When you attack, take out the Spark of the Titans first followed by the Hand of the Titans or Heart of the Titans. Then go for the Risen Ashen Hulks. When you defeat the Risen Ashen Hulks they will break apart into two of the before mentioned smaller Titans. Kill them off quickly and continue on.

Third, be careful when walking through the tar lake as there will be titans that come out of the lake and attack by surprise. I found only 2 groups of 2 each that do this in the lake. One is just after you enter from the South East shore and the other is in the South West corner area of the lake. They are either Hand or Heart of the Titans and should not be too difficult to finish off quickly. Just don't get caught fighting a patrol and have them add to the ranks.

Once you have cleared the lake of patrols then its time for the main goal. In the center of the lake are 3 Titan Bosses. They are the titan lords you came to dispatch. Among their ranks is a small group of Charr lords. A good tactic is to kill the Charr lords first then go for the titans.

Other useful fighting tips:

  • A solid tank who can rush in and keep the bosses focused on him is an excellent complement to an elementalist with Maelstrom who can render the mesmer and necro bosses useless for about 30 seconds (10 seconds of interruptions plus more time as their skills recharge).
  • Titans are very resistant to physical damage, but less so to elemental damage. Even warriors should try and convert their damage. It is a good idea to bring Winter in combination with Greater Conflagration. The latter is also cast by many mobs in the area. Any necromancers can consider bringing Spinal Shivers as well.
  • A shutdown mesmer can help here because he can shutdown the necromancer boss and prevent him from casting Malaise.
  • A good way to break the anti-caster combination is to kill the mesmer boss before the others.

[edit] Initial dialogue

Vision of Glint

"Even with the Door of Komalie closed, the Titans still plague the people of Tyria. The source of their renewed strength is somewhere north of the Wall in Ascalon. After the work you did protecting the cities of Tyria, I believe you are most capable of completing this task and ending the Titan threat. Warmaster Labofski has sent scouts into the northlands to identify the Titan's source of power. Travel to Grendich Courthouse and speak with him."
Accept: "The Titans must be stopped. I'll do what I can to help."
Decline: "I do not take this challenge lightly; I must prepare before I can help."
When asked about quest: "Travel to Grendich Courthouse and speak with Warmaster Labofski."

[edit] Intermediate dialogue

Warmaster Labofski

"Thank you for coming. I have sent scouts out past the Flame Temple Corridor into Dragon's Gullet. Charr chieftains have been worshipping a number of burning godlike creatures and are rallying a Charr warband. My scouts are unsettled by the appearance of these creatures alone. I trust that you have confronted worse on your travels and that you are worthy enough to purge the region of this massive Charr gathering."
