The Vanquisher title tracks are granted to a character who clears all explorable areas of enemies in hard mode. There is one single-tiered title track for each campaign. Acquiring all of them will complete the Legendary Vanquisher title track. These titles can be displayed in the "Honor" monument.

[edit] Acquisition
Vanquisher is a title given for "vanquishing" all explorable areas found in Tyria, Cantha, and Elona. In order to successfully vanquish an area, you must defeat every enemy found in that area in hard mode. Your vanquishing progress can be tracked by monitoring the buff icon that is placed on your character when entering an explorable area in hard mode. As you defeat enemies, the number on the icon will increase with each kill. In addition to the counter, the progress bar found on the bottom of the icon will gradually increase as foes are defeated. The number of foes in an area is not fixed, and is influenced by random-size spawns and certain active quests. The total required to be killed does not include any hidden foes until they spawn (i.e. "pop up") and become visible. For example, the Am Fah in Cantha or the Mandragors in Elona will only increase the required total kills for the area when they appear.
If a foe is resurrected by its allies after you kill it, it still counts as having been killed as far as vanquishing is concerned; you do not need to kill it again. It is not required to kill summoned creatures like spirits or minions.
When an area has been successfully vanquished, a message will appear to notify you of your success. You will then be rewarded with both experience and gold equal to five times the number of monsters defeated in the area. Additionally, the hard mode map icon for the vanquished area will change from a red color to a gold color.
After vanquishing an area, if a spawning of more creatures is triggered (such as hidden foes, or a quest trigger), the area does not become "unvanquished".
An area can be vanquished multiple times, allowing you to repeat a zone to gain the rewards. Progress to the title is still only counted the first time you accomplish it.
If your entire party is killed and every member is at 60% death penalty, all party members will be returned to an outpost instead of being resurrected.

[edit] Larger party sizes
You can increase your party size for vanquishing by starting from an outpost further away into the campaign. Be sure not to enter outposts on the way, plan for inventory space, and bring plenty of death penalty removal items.

- From Yak's Bend (6): areas in Ascalon up to the Eastern Frontier.
- From the Temple of Ages (8): areas in the Maguuma Jungle, Kryta (except Watchtower Coast), Northern Shiverpeaks, and Ascalon up to the Eastern Frontier.
- From Camp Rankor or Deldrimor War Camp (8): the Shiverpeak Mountains up to Lornar's Pass.
- From Mouth of Torment (8; requires Nightfall): areas in the Crystal Desert, via Crystal Overlook and crossing into the Arid Sea.

- From Beknur Harbor or Blacktide Den (8): Zehlon Reach.
- Finishing Blacktide Den or Venta Cemetery/talking to Dockmaster Dimedeh in Dajkah Inlet (8): teleports your party to Sunspear Great Hall or Kamadan, Jewel of Istan, respectively, with up to 8 party members to vanquish Plains of Jarin. Any henchmen you have in your party that are not available in Sunspear Great Hall or Kamadan will be removed from your party when you finish either mission or talk to Dockmaster Dimedeh; however, heroes and other players will not be removed from your party.
[edit] Notes
- Unspawned popup enemies do not need to be killed to vanquish the area. However, once they have spawned they must be killed.
- Neutral animals (e.g. Warthogs, Flamingos) do not have to be killed unless they become hostile. Once they are hostile, they must be killed, and will add to the kill count, and the vanquisher bonus for that area. A minion master in need of corpses should consider killing them anyway.
- In many areas, the bar of the kill counter will show only a fraction of monsters needed to vanquish the area. As you move around, the monster count will increase while getting more monsters in your radar. Thus the bar may appear near-full well before killing all of the monsters.
- All chests become Locked Chests in hard mode and will require lockpicks to open.
- With the 13 November 2008 game update, vanquishing areas in a certain region will also give faction points:
- In Guild Wars Factions, vanquishing an area in the Echovald Forest or the Jade Sea will respectively earn Kurzick faction or Luxon faction equal to 50 times the number of monsters killed.
- In Guild Wars Nightfall, vanquishing an area in Istan or Kourna will earn Sunspear points equal to 5 times the number of monsters killed; while vanquishing an area in Vabbi or the Desolation will earn Lightbringer points equal to 5 times the number of monsters killed.
- In Guild Wars Eye of the North, vanquishing an area in the Far Shiverpeaks will earn Norn title points equal to 5 times the number of monsters killed; while vanquishing an area in the Charr Homelands will earn Vanguard title points equal to 5 times the number of monsters killed; and vanquishing an area in the Tarnished Coast will earn Asura title points equal to 5 times the number of monsters killed.
[edit] Tips
- Combines well with Cartographer titles, as both require you to scan the whole map. If doing Cartography, make sure you scrape the borders. In Cantha, for example, Vanquishing & scraping can earn you more than 90% of the Cartographer title.
- Combines well with Allegiance titles (Sunspear, Kurzick, Luxon, Lightbringer, Asura, Norn, and Ebon Vanguard) as you can use bounties to collect allegiance points. Players attempting Allegiance and Vanquisher titles should finish their Vanquisher titles first, to avoid unnecessary work.
- Owners of Eye of the North should consider using the Powerstone of Courage to remove Death Penalty on party members. Alternatively, one can use special festival or event items that reduces or removes Death Penalty for a higher success rate in vanquishing areas.
- If just starting to vanquish, Cantha's small, squarish maps are recommended. Cantha also contains the smallest amount of maps to vanquish. Tyria contains the most and most of the areas are larger.
- To avoid having to find the last enemy on the map, either via missing a patrol or group, large maps are best fought in 'sections' by choosing a small room or area and fighting them all there. Then a player is able to move methodically around a map with efficiency and speed.
- Consider bringing a few Mercantile Summoning Stones if you have them, especially when vanquishing more than one area in one go (for areas not connected to outposts). The summoned merchant will let you sell accumulated drops to free up inventory space, as well as letting you buy lockpicks if necessary.
- If you go clockwise around a map and miss a group, try counterclockwise. It is the same if you go around the map counterclockwise and miss a group, try clockwise.
