About me[edit]

I am too lazy to use some user page templates, I'll put them later. I am Abyssos, a Finnish, devoted GW player. Some people find my character names terrible, some cool. In character creation screen at December 2005 I was trying to put WarCraft III Death Knight hero names there, but all were in use, and I just made this up: Night Of Oppression.

Characters[edit]

  • Night Of Oppression, originally E/N, my first character. Kind of a Big Deal, 9 titles maxed. Almost full FoW armor, and over 10 million experience points.
  • Might Of Oppression, my Warrior/Monk. Droknar's Forge armor.
  • Priest Of Oppressor, my second advanced character. Mo/Me.
  • Sarliac Unhallowed, N/Me, used mainly when running out of money, so at this moment not used.
  • Arma Concussio, should be latin and mean "Weapon Of Oppression", if I haven't made a bad mistake while reading dictionary. R/Mo, used to farm Tomb of the Primeval Kings.
  • Night Of Judgement, Me/Mo, supposed to be Survivor but died when Alesia was healing Stefan with full health...
  • Black Flame Of Evil, my Pre-Searing beer farming character, who will some day bring his ales to Night Of Oppression.

My opinion about URSAN[edit]

The one skill to rule them all, the one skill to find them,

the one skill to grind the all and easiness to blind them.

You can easily compare Ursan to The One Ring. It makes it's bearer invisible, in this case, it hides players' real talents. Some feel ultimate power, some feel ill when using it. Dark Lord Sauron (in this case: all grinders) wants it to conquest the Middle-Earth (Hard Mode & Elite Missions). At the end, when Frodo and Sam (Ursan haters) are bringing it to Mount Doom (Mount Nerf), Frodo becomes blinded by it's power, when he understood, how powerful (overpowered) it is afterall. Luckily another dependant of it's power, Gollum (Ursan addicts) bite his finger (the 1,2,3,4 smashing fingers) off, and Gollum falls into the inferno of Mount Doom.

This means: The balance/nerf will happen sooner or later, but it has the price of Gollum (Ursan dependants). They either leave or start using the "OMG-SO-HARD-AND-TIME-WASTING" skills and builds.

I've encountered many arguments to defend Ursan. Let's have the most common:

  • "It's easy", this is pathetic. If the easiness is the whole point, why won't you go even easier, like leeching, stealing or buying gold?
  • "Don't like it? Don't use it" makes me furious. I can now only play as HB in so-called elite areas. When even more people can't play anything else than HB, Ursans will start looking titles and armor the Monk is wearing (like LB ranks in DoA, which doesn't tell anything about Monk's skill, you can get to r8 after few hundred Wurm farms). First there were character discrimination, now account discrimination.
  • "It helps us", helping doesn't equal to getting free/cheap.
  • "It's made for casual", casuals really waste time to get Norn rank 10 and then play these "elite areas" every day, every moment. Casuals are supposed to have "I Have Many Leather-Bound Books" or "My Guild Hall Smells Like Rich Mahogany". If this is casual, I wonder what is elite.

Ok I let the hammering here... for a while.
