You can help your team by using beneficial shouts, and you can assist with an instant near 200 damage spike (without counting RoD's damaging effects) on an ally's adjacent target or attacker by using skills 1-5 just short of instantly (factor in cast time, too, it's about a second all told). Granted, you spend 30 energy when you do that, but Castigation's there to help with that a little. GoH is for healing with that energy you don't really have.
