Image talk:Modti's Depravation.jpg - Can you look at that. Gares' pic was uploaded and I don't know if he allowed it. It's in the history and probably should be deleted yes?- BeXoR 01:12, 8 February 2007 (PST)
Policy pages?
So, where are the pages where they are discussing policy? I don't see anything linked off of the main page or the navi-bar. Oblio 08:02, 8 February 2007 (PST)
- On the individual talk pages linked from Category:Policy_proposal. --Barek 08:05, 8 February 2007 (PST)

A heads up
You may want to take a look at the recent entries in Special:Contributions/Blastedt. Please intervene. (xposted to other admin pages) S 19:01, 13 February 2007 (PST)
- Thanks for the heads up. I just now saw the notice as I had something going late at work. It looks like Rainith and Gares have already addressed it. --Barek 20:00, 13 February 2007 (PST)
cite.php
Hey Barek, I noticed you added your request for cite.php directly to Guild Wars Wiki:Requests for technical administration. I guess you didn't notice that the procedure has changed: "If you feel you need a technical change to assist you, you should first make a proposal on the talk page." It probably doesn't matter too much at the moment, but the idea is that trivial or undesirable requests will never leave the talk page. :) LordBiro 14:15, 15 February 2007 (PST)
- Ah - oops - I missed the procedure change - sorry. I'll move it to the talk page. --Barek 14:40, 15 February 2007 (PST)
My ban on GuildWiki
I created Alert after I lost my password to here, and mistyped my e-mail when I registered, so I didn't get the reset password email. I didn't realise that there was a new policy after the last time I looked (On [1]). I am putting this message here because I don't know how to contact you otherwise: I'm blocked from my own talk pages where I'm meant to dispute the ban if I think it is unfair. I do think it is unfair, it wasn't a disruptive account, and I just forgot to link through from one account to another on my Userpages. Ebany Salmonderiel 12:52, 20 February 2007 (PST)
- So which is the active account that you want to use? User:Ebany Salmonderiel or User:Alert? Only the User:Alert account was blocked - User:Ebany Salmonderiel should still be working for you. If not, let me know and I'll see if I can spot why both were blocked. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 13:43, 20 February 2007 (PST)
- Okay, I think I saw what went wrong. Try it again - I cleared and reset the block on the User:Alert account. The User:Ebany Salmonderiel should be free to post still. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 13:49, 20 February 2007 (PST)

Hehe
This is pretty good. Kill the information we have been waiting for regarding official content. ;) — Gares 15:56, 23 February 2007 (EST)
- I tagged it before realising who it was from, so removed the delete tag for now ... but, the article is redundant to the other one. And the other one is linked to from below the edit window anytime you edit text. We could migrate the information ourselves; but I would prefer if Emily did so the edit history has more authority to it. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 15:58, 23 February 2007 (EST)
link bug?
Check out User:Oblio/Sandbox, notice on the sig, that the small "talk" link works. Now look at the talk link in User_talk:Oblio#Testing Small Link, that one doesn't work (it isn't linkified. To complicate matters, preview shows that this one works (on your talk page). -- Oblio (talk) 11:53, 26 February 2007 (EST)
- No bug, the link is working as designed in the MediaWiki software. The link to the talk page at User_talk:Oblio#Testing Small Link is made on the talk page itself, so by design instead of creating a wiki link, it bolds that text (same as the talk link in my sig on my talk page). The same works from any page if a link on it points to the same page on which the link is posted, not just talk pages. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 11:57, 26 February 2007 (EST)
Image placement
In response to this: I noticed you corrected some boss-articles on GuildWiki where I placed images in the 'Location'-section. I never quite understood why it shouldn't be placed there until I saw your comment.
I did some testing with IEv6, Firefox and Opera (my default browser) and found out that the large amounts of white space only occur with IE. FF and Opera just re-arrange the edit links. I tried disabling the section editing via [edit] links in "My Preferences", but it didn't change anything. I assume those links aren't removed, just made invisible because they only disappear when I'm logged in.
You probably already knew all of this, but maybe it's a good thing to mention it's a IE-specific problem (afaik) when correcting image-placement - spread the word :p --Erszebet 10:52, 2 March 2007 (EST)
- You're right - I should've mentioned it in my post that it's specifically an IE6 issue (I'm stuck with IE6 only at work), I knew it didn't show that problem in FF, thanks for confirming it's not an issue on Opera as well (I never tested IE7 for it - I may do that tonight).
- Ideally, any placement selected in the formatting show show cleanly in all major browsers, which is why I brought it up. But, as Rainith said, if we can embed the maps in the creature-info boxes, that'll eliminate the issue entirely. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 13:01, 2 March 2007 (EST)

Image Redirect
Hey, I was adding the {{user image}} to my user image that I u/l a long time ago and by placing it in there it no longer redirects to my user page. The redirect is listed under the template but it doesn't automatically redirect with it in there anymore. I tried moving the template after the redirect but it doesn't even show up when I do that. Any suggestions? I noticed yours do the same thing for your character icons.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 08:17, 14 March 2007 (EDT)
- The template should be after the redirect if you want it to redirect. Unfortunately MediaWiki doesn't seem to show the template when you redirect, but that's ok. The reason the template exists is to avoid confusion that your image is official. Since it redirects to your user page there should (hopefully) be no such mistake. Also, your image is included in the user images category, so everything is fine. LordBiro 08:23, 14 March 2007 (EDT)
- Good to know. Thanks.--Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 08:30, 14 March 2007 (EDT)

Copyvio tag vs delete tag
You might want see this as you actually gave the hint to use the delete template. The copyvio template is meant to be used instead for copyvio articles. --

Anet member list
You just destroyed an hour worth of my work. I hope you're happy about that. I created stub pages for each of the staff members and there's no link that link to them. There's nothing wrong with having the staff list on the wiki, even if there are a list on an external link Lightblade 16:21, 15 March 2007 (EDT)
- I already posted on your talk page. The list already exists internally on another page. For such a long list, we're far better off using the already existing and more complete game credits article, rather than reproducing the same list in multiple places. It's an ease of maintenance thing. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 16:22, 15 March 2007 (EDT)

Another formatting question
How can I set one of my pages, such as this one to be used with I type in {{build-stub}}?--Eloc 15:29, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

- {{x}} only works with articles in the template namespace, as that is the default, everything else needs the full path. which is another reason to wait for a build policy. --Lemming64 21:45, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

A fierce revert war rages
Might want to take a look at [2] >.< — Skuld 11:08, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
- It's not a revert war really, apart from Santax and Wings in the end. Most people are adding comments which Wings removes. As far as I know, blanking your talk page is not against any policy, although I generally don't like it. The small revert war could probably be ignored. --

- There is a comment on user pages in GWW:USER. I've actually been meaning to ask about it - because I'm not sure if my navigation tools at the top of this page violate the "no special formatting" rule on it. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 11:22, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
- I just found about the rule, althoug hI had been taking part in the discussion about it when the policy was formed. :D Wings should not be blanking the page then, whih I now told him.
- What comes to the navboxes etc, I don't think they are 'special formatting'. Special formatting means a font color, tables and other stuff that users tried to use to change the looks of the whole talk page. --

- He mentioned wanting to remove red links, which confused me. If it's about wanting to merge the blessing pages, I think it's best to keep them as inclusions for the reason given by BeXoR. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 15:14, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- I figured out what he did. In the included pages they were previously using the skill icon template. Check out Blessing/Dwayna. I don't know if those articles will ever be made or if they really need to be. - BeX 15:14, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- I see it now, thanks for finding that!
- I agree, no need to have links to those individual blessings pages. We might one day want to create them as redirects back to either the general Blessing page, or the Avatar articles (or a disambig for both); but certainly no reason to link to the individual ones from the Blessing/Dwayna, etc pages. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 15:20, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Undiscussed changes
I do apologize again for the undiscussed changes I made to the warrior list of skills. And for not signing my last message. (Not even sure if I did the message right or not.) It was my hope to make the page more user friendly. But after reviewing my previous version I am forced to agree that it may not have been the proper format for the information being displayed. Because of this I would like to submit a new idea for the format. I have posted it on my Talk page under the article tab so you can review and accept or deny it before I place it on the main wiki area for all to view. I hope u will give it earnest consideration and offer any suggestions that may improve it further. If it is an acceptable format I would like permission to exchange the formats of the rest of the skill pages to this one over time. Your consideration on this matter is welcomed and appreciated. Thank you in advance. Scars reminder 06:02, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
I have reviewed the changes you suggested and I must admit they look much better. Not as complicated. Thanks for the suggestion. Also, like I said before, I'm still new to the wiki setup. I am not sure how to post my site link in the community portal or the other suggested site page. Please be patient with me as I am learning. I will attempt to do that tonight.Scars reminder 21:24, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have set up a blog in the community portal discussion page entitled "New Ideas for an Old Format". And it seems to be getting quite a bit of attention. Thank you for the suggestions.Scars reminder 20:15, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
OK! What Gives?! I was told to discuss and advertise possible changes. Now I see someone else changed to format of the skills page to something of another poor quality list that still has no clear distinction or system of defining and improving. I can't locate any mentioning of the change anywhere and there was no discussion of this with anyone. Please excuse me if I sound curt, but I worked hard at the first change I made and it was deleted almost instantly because, I was told, I had to discuss it. I have certainly extended every effort to do just that. Now I see this and I don't understand how this occurred without notice of some kind. Have I just waisted my time on trying to improve the skills list by going through the proper steps and taking time to get responses?? Or is there more to this situation that I don't understand?? Please let me know I would greatly appreciate it.Scars reminder 07:36, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- Relax man, if people really like your formatting better, yours will replace the current one. I told you before, major changes need to be discussed, and your change (sorting skills according to campaign) is not really helpful and it's too big of a change. The change made by the other guy is mearly reformat it into a table, and that's a minor change. Lightblade 08:29, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- I do apologize for jumping the gun there. But I have to disagree with the uselessness thing. There is already a page in Wiki that is dedicated to the List of skills by campaign and it is understandable why it is there. It isn't very popular though because it lists every skill, every profession, and every campaign all on the same page. In truth it takes forever to populate the information on it. It is also difficult to follow due to repetition of each class in each campaign. The current skills list by profession is a much cleaner way of showing the skills available and with the change I am offering will combine information from both pages and make it easier to research skills. Please keep in mind, not all players have all 3 campaigns, and reading each listed skill for the current (core),(prophecies), etc.. can be quite time consuming. But again, thank you for your patience with my noob style of thinking. LOL Scars reminder 09:10, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- The current change to the page didn't modify the basic structure of how the skills are listed on the page, it just converted the single column into three columns with no change to the sorting or basic structure, so that's a very minor change. Modifying the structure by sorting by campaign is a bigger modification. Personally, I like having the skills listed by campaign on the lists - I do find it helpful, but it's up to the community to decide on if a restructure of how the skills are organized is to be implemented. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 16:17, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Guild Page?
Hello
I'm new to GWW and just finished up my Guild's page. I'm here to ask you if you could do that. =) I apologize for any ignorance on my part, as again, I'm new to the site. Thank you for your help. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Rurik Jangeer .
- Hi. Only very few pages on this wiki are protected, and a regular guild page will not be protected unless it becomes a target of mass vandalism, in which case we would probably protect the page temporarily. However, any vandalism gets usually reverted very quickly, in a matter of minutes, so this shouldn't be a problem at all.

- On their user page, in the toolbar on the lower left should be a link titled "User contributions". That will show a list of contributions made by that other user. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 21:01, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. =D Vengeance Signet 21:02, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Congratulations
I can't believe no one has congratulated you on getting married :P CONGRATULATIONS!!!! -- Scourge

- Oh, wow, hadn't noticed that. That's terrific, Barek! :) --Dirigible 22:26, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks everyone! So far, we just have a location and a date in 2008 ... so a lot of arrangements left to work out yet ahead of us. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 03:23, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
- I feel bad for not noticing! Sorry man... and congrats :D \o/ LordBiro 07:56, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for reverting it back further, I must have missed something trying to clean it up. 'twas my first revert, which is kinda funny since it happened while I was more or less looking right at it. Nbajammer 21:53, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Picture
Okay, I'm curious as to where you are in the picture (since we didn't think to figure a way to meet when we were there). :) I found myself (barely) in the back and I had a couple guesses as to who you were at the party, but if you want to let me know if I was right, drop me a line. ;) --Rainith 02:14, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- I was wondering where that picture had gotten posted. It took a bit to locate myself in the picture, I'm almost hidden in the back row! I'll send an email pointing myself out. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 03:26, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
The new skill list page
I like the new skill lists! But are we going to make all the skill lists to look like that? Some pages like Well spell also contains skill lists, but they're not sorted list. Lightblade 03:11, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Error code
What happened to the error code page? I was patrolling recent change and found this talk page asking about error code. When I searched for Error 7, I get nothing. Lightblade 03:19, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- As far as I can recall we don't and never had a page about the error codes. Guildwiki does though - could it be that you're confusing the two? - BeX

- Maybe I am, but that doesn't means we shouldn't have an error code page. Lightblade 04:29, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Of course! It's just a matter of finding someone that wants to write it. :P - BeX

A small thing
Just a quick request, when you're moving content from one page to another, in addition to adding a {{move}} could you also just at least put "moved" or something in both change notes? It's sort of odd for me when I go to look at a change and see a giant character difference number and can't tell off the bat whether it was a fix of vandalism or a pagemove. :)

Fansites
I started up the article, category and corrected the links, still waiting for entries though. Thought you might be interested. --Xeeron 12:03, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- I had noticed that no one was working on it yet, so was thinking of starting it this weekend. I'm glad to see you got it moving! --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 17:15, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Wait, now I'm confused. The article that you created is a sortable table, like what I was arguing we should create ... weren't you the one arguing against using that and wanting a bullet point list instead? Or were we just working under different personal definitions of what ended up being the same thing? --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 17:26, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- I think the latter. The only distinction I saw between various proposals really was whether to have separate pages for each site or one consolidated list.
(Aiiane - talk - contribs) 17:46, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I have the slightest preference for list, but since I thought you wanted a table, I started out that way. Doesnt matter much to me. Advantage of a list being that it is easier to use for new/anon users, but lets wait if we get some edits. --Xeeron 19:18, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Current wiki-dramas
Note the title of this section is plural. Over the last week, I've received emails from three people asking for my input on two issues on the wiki. If these issues had been of a critical nature, I would've been happy to contribute - but for the multiple political wiki-dramas taking place, I only skimmed a handful of posts before deciding that I really don't want anything to do with either issue. The wiki talk pages have become a hostile and unpleasant place to roam, so I'll only be looking into a handful of talk pages for a while. I have enough more enjoyable activities going on in real life to keep me busy. I may be back, I may not. Time will tell. For now, I've set my preferences to not receive emails, and have removed the link from my user pages to avoid confusion. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 21:59, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
