Mar Master[edit]

I will be porting my user page from the other, original wiki ASAP. While I could create a link to it, my suspicion is that is would violate some Official GWW policy and I would be busted down on my discussion page, so no link at this time. My user name is the same on both sites, however.

Wants[edit]

  • Auction House - This would make PC a thing of the past, and simplify trade. The mechanics for it would be very similar to the rune trader, rare material trader, and material trader; they buy and sell and prices fluctuate based on user actions. Some Arena Net fee(skim-age) would be expected.
  • Guild-based storage - Other games do this. Access control, server storage and logging are the biggest coding issues I see with this.
  • Alliance Roster - Shows all logged-in alliance members only, their Guild rank, leader or officer or member and provides the "Whisper" option icon similar to the Guild Roster.

Beginning of the End?[edit]

20090611 update!

I'm another player that is getting a bit miffed that Anet is ignoring skill balance AND removing some of the active fun farming aspects. In it's place they have given us sanctioned Z-coin farming.
This FUN is getting less and less FUN. I really play GW for only 4 reasons.

  • The social groups in our guild and alliance.
  • The fun of playing against the game.
  • The fun of playing against other players.
  • The solo puzzle of me vs game (at the odd non-social hours).

Since they cannot get skills balanced, that is seriously making #3 iffy. See Aegis(pvp) or Monks in TA don't actually need to survive.

Since they take away one of the unsanctioned but long in-game farming strategies (see Budger, still here, but worthless); #2 is getting iffy. This also impacts #4. Sometimes you just want to be alone.

I look at all the players in my guild and alliance that have left this game in recent months, I wonder when the fun < work. Z-coins is farming, plain and simple. Anet was/is big on anti-grind yet they give us z-coin grind for Tomes? Fireworks? and worst of all storage!

Lets see what's next, remove RoJ, uwsc, fowsc, 600/smite, Nestlings will get updated with Twisting Jaws. This is going to improve the FUN of GW! Oh, lets pare down Pain-Inverter, it obviously works too well. Mark of Pain on a Warrior, can't have that. I know, lets just assign predefined skill bars on players similar to Snowball Fights; that will simplify the situation for players wanting to improve their builds. Then skill balance, as the term appears to be meant by Anet, is a moot point. Your skill level will be demonstrated by your mastery of the "standard" skill bar.

The nice thing about the now "Historic" Shadow Bomber build, was that anytime, I could get into GW, solo for a while, while doing the tricky bits of staying alive, avoiding the random pop ups, and spawns into areas. There was a certain randomness that had to be compensated. So now, the Z farming requires 1) Join a PUG, some are good, some are not; 2) Collect Guildies/Allies and do 1-5 zbounties or zmissions; 3) Take your -way hero collections and solo it.

This is for the minuscule amounts of Z-coins as rewards. I enjoyed a few z-runs, but I quickly added up that this is grinding (repeat the same thing, the same way, with different chars). And I do this so I can get tomes, or pets, or packs. WOW! I just can't wait to get up and grind for that.

So, right now, anet is in info-blackout, they randomly? nerf some skills, buff others, redefine skills (I just don't understand the Aegis change) and think that many classes are not useful, so they ignore (Para and Rit come to mind). When they inevitably nerf Shadow Form, Assassins will once again be a relegated class. Next, they will decide Rangers are not fast enough to interrupt, so they'll tie arrow speed to "Bow Mastery" and your monks and other casters will be even more useless. Leechers in CM will continue, the random leechway system now makes leeching the only reliable way to dare I say it, FARM faction and zkeys.

And all of this is designed to make me look forward to GW2 how?

I have spent a reasonable amount of money on the game, and while anet has given me my money's worth over the last 3 years, GW2 is now not in my future plans. This licensing issue, the copyright issue, the "we don't divulge any info that may possibly keep you tuned in" are all designed to make us look elsewhere. I understand there are legal ramifications, but if the idea of communicating some "broad" but vague info .. such as we think monks are the "weak-link" in TA and are going to address that is somehow going to drive us away .. then consider me on the way out.
