Gameplay

The Brawler is a class meant for pressure and utility. I also designed the class in mind to be a melee that shuts down melee - something that I think hasn't really been done or done well. One of my favorite skills is Break Weapon, as it simply shows something that could have a melee attacker kiting. The touch attacks are unblockable, but usually have some kind of set up or condition. The brawler came to being as a worshiper to Balthazar who rejected the ways of conventional bladed or hammer weapons and fighting. The brawler instead concentrated on training both the mind and the body as powerful tools to achieve their goals.

Attitude of most Brawlers[edit]

Many of them would appreciate the Norns' activity and cultures. Some sail to Cantha to learn about about secret arts held away from the common dojo's. Though dojos exist for Brawler training, many of them simply give up their weapons to sharpen their minds and bodies themselves. A few notable Brawlers are recorded in Norn oral stories and manuscripts. The tale of Juno Carbuncle is often told to small Norn children to encourage them to become stronger.

Juno Carbuncle[edit]

Juno Carbuncle was a legend who started out as a small boy when the Miasma hit the land of Cantha. The Miasma claimed his parents, and soon he was an only child fending for himself on their secluded home, miles away from any help. Though not native born to Cantha, Juno knew enough on how to get by. But knowing and doing are separate things.

He managed to gain enough money from assisting Assassins in their duties. Though both traditional Brawlers and Assassins are solitary hunters, both Juno and his assigned partner, Clara Chang, knew that their powers combined quite well. As the Miasma spread across the land, so did Juno and Clara. They avoided the Miasma and anyone who tried to harness or suppress its power. When the Afflicted attacked the pair in an ambush, they saw Shiro in a haze. Knowing that their problems originated from this ghost of a man, Juno and Clara attempted to attack him. When Shiro and his minions disposed of Clara, it was all that Juno could do in his Battle Spirit to retreat from the fight. Wounded and weak, Juno managed to reach the dock of an old fisherman.

Wanting to get away from the land of Cantha, the defeated Brawler rode aboard the fisherman's ship after paying him a sum of money to simply get off at the nearest port. Upon arriving in Lion's Arch, he heard tales of being imbued with the legend of being imbued with a Gods' power...

Judging[edit]

  • Oh I have always wanted to see an unarmed profession! I would have liked to have seen a better description of what Brawlers look like and what the armor they wear looks like as well. Score: 7 --ShadowphoenixPlease, talk to me; I'm so lonely ;-; 03:09, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
  • Definately a worthy runner-up of the Shaman, in my opinion. This is well thought out and not terribly unbalanced to start with. But a few problems: Unarmed does more damage than daggers, which I find a little odd. Some of the images don't seem to relate to the skill. How does a guy in shades represent A thrust punch? Also, some of the attributes could be too powerful for secondaries, since Unarmed, Finesse, and Staff Mastery gives those subtle buffs. Those would be nerfed into oblivion in the real world. However, the gameplay and slight storyline descriptions are very nice. Gonna give this a: Score: 7 - VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 16:51, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
  • Hmm... It's obvious you put really much effort into this, but unfortunately it's still mostly a mix of warrior, assassin and even dervish. Not too bad for that, though. Score: 7 6 (change in relation to other ratings) - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 19:52, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
