[edit] RMT Shop
This is an idea that I wanted to suggest and didn't wanna post on the wiki but I changed my mind so here it is, I will probably not see what I want now but well... I hope if or when they like it I still do.
- A place where we could sell our accounts and/or in-game items for real money, this would be a seperate website, the hard thing would be to implement this because of the NCSoft Master accounts, etc... and it would require alot of resources, money and work but it would allow us, the players, to earn real money with a game.
- For accounts, this would be the most troubling part of all to implement, because all the account details have to be changed and transfered to another NCSoft Master Account.
- How would this be beneficial for the game developers? well, my suggestion includes a way so that the game developers still earn money from it.
- For in-game items, well this would also be beneficial for both parties.
- For accounts, this would be the most troubling part of all to implement, because all the account details have to be changed and transfered to another NCSoft Master Account.
[edit] How can this be beneficial for both parties?
[edit] Accounts:
Example: A player sells a Factions only account for €100, It includes 2 lvl 20 characters, some armor and items. (Items, characters, unlocks, etc... would be listed on the webpage)
- Arenanet and/or NCSoft could get/ask for €14,99 (In-game store price for Factions) and/or maybe a 5% service fee (€5)
- Arenanet and/or NCSoft earn €19,99 (5% fee included).
- Arenanet and/or NCSoft have earned a total of €39,99 with 1 account (if it was originally purchased in the in-game store).
- Player gets €80,01.
- Player earned €65,02.
- Arenanet and/or NCSoft earn €19,99 (5% fee included).
(the account would be locked from the moment it was put on sale untill the transactions are complete, or when it's cancelled)
[edit] Items:
Example: A player sells 200 ectos for €100.
- Arenanet and/or NCSoft ask for a 10% service fee (€10).
- Arenanet and/or NCSoft earn €10.
- Player gets €90.
(The items would immediately be taken away from the account)
[edit] What else can you do with this?
Use this to trade in-game items, like an auction house. When used you could then charge a 1-5% fee (in-game gold) and sell the in-game gold from the fee(s?) for real-money.
- Profit for Arenanet and/or NCSoft.
[edit] Negative stuff
- Increase of bots (Arenanet and/or NCSoft are doeing a good job, but if this would be implemented they would need to "step it up").
- Hackers (People would definatly try and hack the server and/or the website).
[edit] More to come later
I'm working on more details and stuff, i'll work on the bad stuff to... don't worry. I'm just so focused on what could work at this point instead of thinking about the negative stuff that could come from this, it always hits me a while later, have patience.
[edit] Notes
[edit] Here will be a list of words to summarize what i'm thinking about.
- Legal issues.
- Hackers.
- Protection.
- Years of work.
- Ask others for help/advice.
[edit] What I wanna think about
- Implementation, I don't even know if it would be possible to implement this. I'm not a programmer so i'm not sure wich languages would be used. I would like to learn tho, not a problem for me, I have enough time.
- Website design.
[edit] Other Info
This is my idea, I thought of this a few years back when playing D2 but never went or talked to anyone about it, I also don't know if someone else has a similar idea to this one. I have it written down in my "idea book" since... well I don't know, I don't put dates in it :/, I should have done that tho. Nobody has to believe me, as long as I know it's true i'll be happy.
The inspiration came from websites like eBay, in-game stores (in this idea the items would be provided by the players, and would not just come out of nowhere), second-hand or used goods, documentaries about gamers earning money by playing, etc...
As far as I know this is Original content provided by me, so I hold the copyright to it? I don't know how this works but I did read that it's compatible with the current licensing terms for this wiki. (contact me if i'm wrong). Source.
