The Quad EVAS![edit]

Here's a build I thought would be neat, but then found it to be impractical when trying it alone.
It required a hero or someone oin your party to have the Echo Elite also so that you could use Arcane Mimicry for a second Echo.
-Sigh....
Perhaps if a human player in your party did the same build....hmmmm

Thoughts/Rants/Reflections On the Game[edit]

A Running Build for Necromancers?[edit]

I saw the build General Shadow Forge Runner and decided to go for it, since it was recommended for primary spellcasters. Unfortunately, I was missing Dark Escape, Heart of Shadow, AND "I Am Unstoppable!" I had less than 2k! This led me to sell my Nightbringer for 10k. Then I bought the Heart of Shadow and Dark Escape from Michiko :)

Becoming "Unstoppable"[edit]

Unfortunately, "I Am Unstoppable" wasn't so easy. I would need to complete the Cold As Ice quest to get the skill. But in order to even get to Cold As Ice, I had to finish the Anything You Can Do quest I still remembered how hard the quest before Anything You Can Do was-- Worthy Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap); especially Nulfastu! I got help from a Braveblood guildie.

Side Tangent:Idea for Improved Sabway Healer from Ex-Guildmate[edit]

I used to be in the Braveblood Guild. At the time that a guildmate helped me with Nulfastu, she give me the build below as her Sabway healer:

Before I capped Xinrae's Weapon (and adhered to the PvX Wiki version), this build indeed was considered to be THE Sabway healer build :)

Anything You Can Do.... I Can Do Easier?[edit]

I had no trouble with Avarr the Fallen or Whiteout for the Anything You Can Do quest. I remembered Avarr from capping Jagged Bones. :) My Pre_Prot'd Enduring Axe Koss easily dispatched him! I totally ignored the Bone Fiends!

When I approached Whiteout's location, I flagged my heroes aside and ran up the slope toward him. I eagerly awaited the gi-huge-ic snowball, but it didn't come. So I turned around and went back to my heroes. THEN the snowball came. I got out of the way just in time :) Then I unflagged my heroes and we proceeded up the slope to Whiteout. All I saw were 2 Avalanches! They went down faster than I imagined given the quest walkthrough. I never even had Whiteout selected before I got the quest update indicating that I'd killed him! Or maybe Whiteout was the two Avalanches? Now I just had to kill the Fragment of Antiquities

While I'm At It...[edit]

The Fragment of Antiquities was on the first level of the two level dungeon, Sepulchre of Dragrimmar. He wasn't really that tough to kill. This dungeon was pretty annoying with the Ice Darts and 'Ice Torch thingies'. But what reeeeeally made the dungeon annoying were all the Spirits of Frozen Soil. If anyone died, the rest of my party had to find and kill the Spirit of Frozen Soil, usually in the middle of the next mob of Whirling Wisps and Frozen Elementals. Ugh.

The Remnant of Antiquities was pretty tough. I had to use a Celestial Summon and 5 Honeycombs for the DP to finish him off. I didn't have my usual Technobabble to daze his buddies so that I could daze him. But since my party members kept dying near him, I was able to spam my new toy skill- Signet of Sorrows :-D

On the other hand, I suppose if my party had the proper skills, things would have gone smoothly. While I did have an interrupt ranger for the final boss, I wasted a hero spot on Minion Master Olias, because I just went in without reading the wiki article! On the other hand, I beat the Sepulchre of Dragrimmar on the first try with heroes and henchies AND the "wrong builds"!

New Favorite Skill[edit]

After almost a thousand hours of gameplay, I am still learning new things:
Signet of Sorrow.jpg
Signet of Sorrow- FTW!
It works especially well once the bodies start piling up. In that case, the instant recharge is AWESOME! :-D

This the first skill I've ever gotten where I actually activate it while its being activated! I finally understand what 'spamming a skill' really means. If the skill 'recharges instantly' then you can get away with clicking on the skill again while it is activating! The game queues up the activations!

Regenerating Gold?[edit]

Earlier today, I could have swore I had less than 5K. Then I did some Shining Blade bounties. Then I spent 11K for the materials I needed for 10 Scrolls of Resurrection. Then I sold the Nightbringer for 10k. After the Sepulchre, I'm somehow back up to 7K! Lol. Now if only I could get to the point of trading in ectos...

Done with Guild Wars? (QQ-ing Time)[edit]

About two weeks ago, I thought I had finally reached a point of not playing this game until the wee hours of the morning. I was fed up with the minor inconsistencies in the skill effects and all of the technicalities and skill balances that seemed soooo arbitrary.

Then there was the ridiculously low drop rate on the Keen Oni talons for Nicholas the Traveler. -UGH! I must have killed 25 Oni and at least 150 other enemies while trying to find the pop-up spots and 'oni' got 1 talon. At least the following week, the truffles could be dropped from Wallows which are non-pop-up enemies!

I finally hit a point where I had all of the Elite skills worth having and all the 'Great' PvX Builds for Necromancer. I thought I had all the cool Elite Necromancer armor: Asuran, and the 'Kinda, Sorta OK' Elite armor: Norn Necromancer Armor. In other words, I thought I was DONE with Guild Wars.

I Just Need 200K...[edit]

Somebody convinced me that Vabbian Armor might look cool. They said that it was like a 'pimp suit'.

Then I noticed what it cost. No, not the gold cost--25k-- That would have been the easy part The sapphire and diamond cost- 16 DIAMONDS AND 16 sapphires?! At about 5.5k per diamond and 6.5k per sapphire, that worked out to at least 80K just for the diamonds and 80k just for the sapphires! This would be the most expensive armor I would have ever purchased!

If I were an ecto farmer , the 185K would be no problem.... Alas...

The Torment of Getting the Tormented Staff[edit]

The only other awesome thing left to keep me playing was to try to get the Tormented Staff. It looks truly awesome and l337. And of COURSE it costs a lot! Either you can get 60 Anguish Gemstones by farming Domain of Anguish as if though it were a fulltime job...

OR

You could fork over 18 ectos in Spamadan for an Armbrace of Truth which would let you then choose a Tormented Staff :-/

It's just 18 ectos, right?

Needless to say, I reached a lull in my motivation to play, aside from playing with my guildies.

Just When I Thought I Was Out, They Pull Me Back In[edit]

Then one day, I joined up with some Assassin guy to farm for the truffles for Nicholas the Traveler. For some reason he had the Spirit Farmer build but with one important skill- Summon Spirits. It allowed him to be sooo much faster with the spirits that one could say that they were more effective than even MINIONS! Minions take time to raise and maintain and enchant. Just watch your Minion Master hero for awhile to notice what I'm talking about. The minion master of most parties almost ALWAYS winds up behind the party due to delay in minion army upkeep. With Summon Spirits there is very little upkeep. Thins move along pretty fast. Not only that, but with the proper hexes the spirits seem to kill things QUICKER than the minions!

Delusions of Ritualism[edit]

The build is basically the Spirit Spammer Build :)

After a bit of Kurzick faction farming in Altrumm Ruins I brought the Summon Spirits] skill. Then I tried the Spirits with my guildies and found that it worked quite well. There was one area to the east of Seeker's Passage in Salt Flats where myself and my guildies had nearly wiped during the previous week due to the MOBS of Storm Kin. The spirits easily dispatched the Storm Kin mobs and I've been hooked ever since. Thanks to Summon Spirits, the Spirit Spammer build is now one of my main builds.

Completing the Shards of Orr Dungeon with Thanan My Guild Leader[edit]

My guild leader Thanan, a Warrior, and I completed the Shards of Orr Dungeon! That was pretty sweet considering that I barely survived the first level the first time I went there on my way to Gadd's Encampment. We finally found a use for smiting monk builds! We both used Ogden as Smiting Monks since the Shards of Orr have a lot of Undead and holy damage is doubled :) I used my Spirit Spammer build of course and Thanan used his NRA Build and was leveling up his Phoenix. He got his Phoenix up to level 13 :)

Ezio Snoop?[edit]

Also, I've been told that Snoop with the Shining Blade costume dyed white and his necromancer stance looks like Ezio from Assassin's Creed :-D

User SnoopK EzioSnoop-082410.jpg

Notice the PERFECT Hale Curses Destroyer Staff of Fortitude :-D

Still Some Game Left[edit]

I do suppose I still have a lot of dungeons left. It's just a matter of me coordinating with Thanan. On my own, I hardly try Vanquishing (Or Hard Mode at all!) or Dungeons! Maybe this will be my next progression in the game...

For now I guess I'll keep playing with the Spirit Build :) I still haven't done any of the Titan's Quests, Glint's Challenge, or finished the War in Kryta. So I guess I'll play on! :)

08/05/10[edit]

Co-Worker's Deldrimor Skill Idea- Dwarf Toss[edit]

Dwarf Toss
(user skill)

You are teleported to target foe. Target and adjacent foes are knocked down for 1...4...5 seconds. You are also knocked down for 3...1...1 seconds. When you get up, you gain %50 more adrenaline and attack 33% faster for 10...18...20 seconds. You move 20% slower for 10...18...20 seconds.

Note: Character also says: "Toss Me!" on activation of skill. Then the character says "Don't tell the Asura."

Lol.

This Week's Nicholas Item[edit]

The PVXWiki constantly mentions being able to Spirit Farm for Nicholas the Traveler items. Some areas are just too tough to do alone with a necromancer! Snoop doesn't have very many running skills. Maybe he needs to get "I Am Unstoppable!".

This week's item, Moon Shells, is too tedious for me right now... There's too many other enemies to kill aside from the Leviathan whatever's

My Favorite Skills[edit]

As you'll notice in my favorite builds certain spells show up a lot. This is because I find that they work quite well or offer something that most people in my party don't have already:

  1. Technobabble- Dazed is the bane of all spellcasters! ;)
  2. Necrosis- My main damage skill doing 86 damage with my Sunspear Rank 9 and recharging QUICKLY, used to be arcane-echo-able
  3. Conjure Nightmare- Look at that Purple Health Bar Melt!
  4. Mindbender- Even after the nerf, still crucial for speeding up spell casts
  5. Spiteful Spirit Elite- DUH! Lately, I've grown to appreciate this skill more especially combined with Conjure Nightmare ;)
  6. Life Transfer Elite- People like to hate on this Elite, but It's pretty fun to see a small low-level mob drop dead all at once :-D

Other Notables:

  1. Discord Elite- 'Yellow and Brown means you're goin DOWN!' (That's how I remember when to cast the spell)
  2. Wandering Eye- SS+ Wandering+ Raptors = Nice Damage Numbers :)
  3. Pain Inverter- Great for Shiro, Charr Hunter Beasts, Charr Effigies, Wurms, The Great Destroyer :)
  4. Alkar's Alchemical Acid- Over a hundred points of damage AND Cracked Armor to multiple Destroyers at once :)

08/02/10[edit]

I wonder how wise it is to blog on my user page. I also wonder what if I had been doing this all along. I suppose this will be a summary of my game experiences so far. I am pretty sure I'll get some detail wrong, but...eh "whateva."

Another note: These experiences and reflections are based on what I thought at the time. At various times I had not completed all three games (Prophesies, Factions, Nightfall Eye of the North), did not know what Sabway was, had not gotten to Droknar's Forge or Lion's Arch, did not care about Nicholas the Traveler Gifts, there was no War in Kryta to let you get Royal Gifts, did not even have max armor better yet Prestige Armor, and wasn't even level 20!

Why I Started Playing Guild Wars[edit]

My current guild leader has been playing this game since 2005. He had been trying to get me to play for the longest time. Then a few days before Christmas 2009, I found out that a bunch of my coworkers were gonna start playing this game. That was when finally decided to give this game a try.

Why Necromancer?[edit]

Since I was in an extra anguished and disturbed mood at the time that I started playing the game, I choose to be a necromancer. Between the usual roles that a necro takes, I decided that Snoop should be an SS Necro, just because that seemed like a simple build to do a lot of damage :) That thus dictated that Snoop take on the Mesmer secondary.

The Explanation of My Name[edit]

Several years ago at a neighborhood basketball court, some little kid said that I reminded him of Snoop Dogg. Since then, I retained that as an alias on forums and online things. I am NOT that big of a Snoop Dogg fan, actually. I only like the few of his songs that most other people like ( Nothin But A G Thang, What's My Name, Beautiful, Get Blown, Drop It Like It's Hot )

When it came time to name my Guild Wars character, I decided that it should be Snoop-related, but also have some sort of mythological connection. At the time, I was listening to an Erykah Badu song that had some guy speaking in Kemetic (Twinkle, New Amerykah time 4:33), so I went with Egyptian mythology (go figure!). The obvious choice would have been Snoop Anubis. Anyone familiar with online gaming and how to pronounce the last name knows that this would have been a BAD name!

So I looked up dog-related Egyptian mythological figures related to death, since Snoop was a Necro. I came across Khentimentiu. Therefore my character's name is Snoop Khentimentiu :) Quite literally-- "Snoop Dogg of the Dead"

My First Guild and MOX the Bodyguard[edit]

One time playing, probably not too long after Searing, I got an offer from a guy to help with farming. At this point, of course I was probably about at level 12 and didn't even know what heroes were. The guy who went farming with me bought MOX along. Then the guy had to leave, but left his MOX behind!

Until that point, all Snoop had were maybe 3 or 4 minions to go with me farming. Those minions were probably VERY low level. So naturally, Snoop took a pounding. This being very early in the game, Snoop had very little armor. Suddenly on this farming run, Snoop had MOX to take the pounding while Snoop cast hexes and raised minions. After I 'discovered' the awesomeness of MOX I told others in the game and they didn't agree. I must mark that farming run with MOX as a significant milestone in my Guild Wars experience-- my first hero :)

Nowawadys I hardly use MOX. I don't need him now. 'Back in the day', MOX was the shiznit ;)

That MOX was actually a recruiting ploy. The condition of my using MOX was that I join the guy's guild. So suddenly Snoop Khentimentiu was in the Braveblood ipod Guild! I later found out that my coworker was part of another guild! Doh!

Charity Run to Droknar's Forge and Other Early Benefits[edit]

When I first started playing Guild Wars around Christmas 2009, I had a lot of leave from work and therefore was able to play for literally hours each day. Most days off, I would stay up until the wee hours of the morning in the race to hit level 20 before the new year started and I went back to work to my coworkers who had also started playing the game :)

The reason I wanted to hit level 20 first was due to the last few games myself and my coworkers decided to play-- Desert Combat mod of Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142. When we played those games I was usually the one struggling and not ranked as high as everyone else. I decided that for Guild Wars, I would NOT be the one struggling!

One morning I happened to be awake at the same time as a guildmate. She claimed that she was bored and wanted me to go to the guild hall to keep her company. So, being the agreeable chap I am, I complied. Usually we would joke around about songs and ramble on about silliness. I always managed to avoid giving too much detail about my age and personal life. My guildmate meanwhile revealed that she was in HIGH SCHOOL! High School?! Wow! I felt old. To this day I never told her that. It was later that I found out that most of my guildmates were HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS! Some of my coworkers have KIDS their ages!

The routine of catching my guildmate on at crazy hours continued. On some occasions she would casually give away things that I would never imagine casually giving away! One time she gave me RED DYE! For FREE! She claimed that she had 'extra'! Another time, she asked me which dye looked best on her ranger character. Originally she had white dye and recommended brown dye. She then tried the brown dye, didn't like it, then BOUGHT MORE WHITE DYE to fix it back! Clearly this guildmate had more gold than I could imagine. One night she gave me three dedicated minipets! Another night she casually gave me 4 platinum! At the time Snoop barely had TWO platinum and here was this guildmate casually GIVING AWAY twice the TOTAL gold Snoop had!

For some reason, in the first few weeks of playing, I had a lot of friends with female characters on the game. Maybe it was the Snoop name. Maybe it was because they thought I was nice. I'm not sure. I never flirted with any of them...since that would be just creepy.

One friend in particular gave Snoop a FREE run from Grendich Courthouse to DROKNAR'S FORGE!!!! Remember that Star Trek TNG episode where Q snaps the Enterprise to the path of a Borg cube. My run to Droknar's Forge was like that! All of a sudden I saw what was at the time seemingly impossible mob of enemies! At the time I was amazed to see anything tougher than the Grawl outside of Ascalon City! I couldn't imagine being able to survive those mobs even when I got to level 20! At one point my runner died several times and had %30. I used a peppermint candy cane and even though I died, she was just barely able to complete the run. Out of gratitude, I tipped about 200 gold and some random materials. Knowing what I know now about that run and looking back at the high-res map of Tyria, I almost feel guilty.

Later, my coworkers gave me grief because they considered this to be cheating. I say that if you earned the materials or gold to get that initial run, then you deserve the benefit! Besides, it's not like Snoop got run through the whole game! Snoop still did all the missions and a lot of the quests!
