Options

Usage

  • Hero will maintain Practised Stance and Choking Gas.
  • In combat it will activate weapon of aggression and healing spring, and will for the most part maintain weapon of aggression.
  • When more than 2 conditions are present in the party it will quickly drop Pure was Li Ming.
  • Energy is easily maintained by Scavenger Strike, so long as one member of your party inflicts conditions. Else Poisonous bite can be taken instead of Flesh of My Flesh.

NB:Heroes will only res pets if they themselves are above 50% energy. So after each fight check for any dead pets before moving on.

This hero is a great help in higher end PvE when the AoE interupts every 1.5 seconds shutdown the casters, preventing both harmfull spells being used against you and defensive spells being used. It also provides great defense with Healing spring healing up to 210 health for any ally in its AoE, and Pure was Li Ming removing party wide condition stacks.

Usage

  • Hero will use barrage whenever 3+ enemies will be hit by it.
  • Sight beyond sight is used on recharge removing and preventing blindness, which can cripple this build.
  • EoE and Barrage allow for large AoE damage whilst the pet supports the frontline

NB:Heroes will only res pets if they themselves are above 50% energy. So after each fight check for any dead pets before moving on.

In areas with large mobs (eg. Urgoz's Warran) this build is a very effective damage dealer. However it is made far better by a combination of either a fiery shortbow and a rodgorts casting ele, or a vampiric shortbow and a splinter weapon ritualist. If your deldrimor rank is high enough Great dwarf weapon turns this build into mass AoE knockdown every 1-2 seconds. The shortbow allows for the quickest attack rate whilst maintaining accuracy/decreasing arrow arc, allowing for heroes to use the interupts with a high success rate. A flatbow can be used if the party contains Favourable Winds.

Usage

  • Hero will start combat with Weaken Armour and Mark of Pain before using barrage when ever there is more than 2 enemies in its AoE
  • Interupts skills with Disrupting and Savage Shot
  • Defends itself with Lightning Reflexes, occasional uses it for offense
  • Maintains energy with Body Shot

This hero deals great AoE damage and with splinter weapon can lower an entire mobs health to 50% in one barrage. Whilst a very usefull build it does have the drawback that heroes dont always target Mark of Pain very effectivly, one way around this is to ping the middle enemy of a mob, but this can prevent your party focusing on more "important" enemies. Another thing to watch out for when running a hero with this build is scatter, mark of pain itself doesnt cause scatter but the damage from it does after 3-4seconds. Usually this is not a problem as the target is dead but it is something to be aware of.

Not used often due to panic being worse than Psychic Instability in most cases, and sub par ritualist skills. However when a channeling rit cannot be in the party it makes a great substitute providing spikes with splinter weapon and ancestors rage. I use it almost purely as party compression in only some high caster areas (ooze pit, underworld ect.)

Usage

  • Psychic Instability will be used as the opening interupt usually knocking down the entire mob allowing for a 4 second opening attack.
  • Other skills will be blocked by Cry of Frustration or Power Drain if heroes energy is low.
  • On the target hero will apply Mind Wrack and quickly remove it with Shatter Delusion causing 100 armour ignoring damage, and 75 AoE armour ignoring damage. With it's high fast casting level it will spam this combo for approximatly 45-50 damage a second.
  • Shatter hex along with a 12 in fast casting turns any hexs on your frontline into 120 damage AoE nukes up to every 8 seconds.
  • Renew life is cast in only 2 seconds granting a hard res and a party wide heal.


This is my main damage hero usually, as the combined power of the AoE damage and the knockdown allows for a vicious opening attack killing off many of the weaker enemies such as summons before the main fight even begins. It is usefull in any area and needs no variants to be effective.

Usage

  • Spreads blindness and interupts a large number of attacks to deal heavy armour isnoring damage.
  • Maintains energy with spell interupts and enchant removal.
  • Provides a 2 second res/party heal mid combat.

A generally unused hero build, but is very usefull in areas where phyiscal damage is used alot, such as DOA and Bogroot Growths. The AoE blindness is not to be underestimated.

Usage

  • This hero makes for a great frontline and can solo frontline due to maintainable Soldier's Stance and AoE scythe attacks
  • This hero will open any fight against rangers (and occasionally casters) with Shields Up! alloing you to close the gap, before it maintains +25 armour party wide from Watch Yourself!

My most common frontline as it can easily solo entire mobs with enough time, dealing 45+ damage a second with party wide preotection and personal 75% block.

Useage

  • They're on Fire! will provide heavy protection from burning foes reducing their damage by 33%.
  • Finale of Restoration is used by heroes as a single target heal and is incredibly effective with The Power is Yours!.
  • Ballad and Aria of restoration provides plenty of party wide healing.
  • Merciless spear incresed your kill rate by spiking weak enemies down, and is very usefull against bosses.

Provides near unrivaled protection and healing when combined with a elementalist causing burning. Shelter protection doesnt reduce damage below 10% so your party can still take hits of 60ish damage, protection monks can make a couple of party members near invincible but have no defence against the AoE of most hard mode areas. 9/10 times this build is in my party. However it does rely on a good source of burning.

Useage

  • Provides heavy AoE damage with SS when combined with any AoE snare.
  • Maintains casters energy in longer fights.
  • Provides frontline support/healing with enchant removal and blood magic skills

An all round usefull hero which fills both the utility and damage roles well. However Blood Ritual can often be vital in mesmer heavy areas where your casters are quickly stripped of their energy. A +20% enchant spear/staff can help by increasing Awaken The Blood's duration, however with it being a removable enchantment i see it more as a damage boost than a neccesity. With it active Strip enchantment can remove 2 enchantments and SS becomes exceptionally deady at 37 AoE damage for every attack/skill the enemy uses.

Useage

  • The hero will summon Bone Fiends from all corpses and easily keep them alive through fights.
  • On recharge it will use Aura of the Lich replacing its oldest Bone Fiends with high level Bone Horrors which can body block and act as tempory tanks.

When combined with a party member using Barbs the Bone fiends attack rate causes phenomenal single target damage allowing you to simply call out key enemies and kill them in seconds. The healing skills of this hero will also support your party by the AoE of seed helping the frontline, and the AoE of Heal Area helping the back line. Dwayna's Sorrow turns every minions death into a part heal aswell allowing for a strong defense as well as offense.

Usage

  • Energy is easily maintained through Glyph of Lesser Energy and Fire Attunement
  • Attunement is covered by the self heal Aura of Restoration
  • Large AoE damage and burning through searing flames
  • Mobs are snared with Earthen Shackles and Dragon's Stomp
  • Flesh of My Flesh is used as a hard res

A very usefull hero with great damage but more importantly 2 very effective snares. Dragon's stomp has a large AoE and can give your party 2 seconds of peace to either heal or launch a counter attack. Earthen shackles on the bar is not only an effective snare for burning foes, but in also encourages the hero to focus more on spreading burning than just nuking a single target, synegizing perfectly with a paragon's "There On Fire!" for party wide protection.

NB: Clearly this hero relies on burning and so is more effective against plants and less effective against destroyers and other fire resistant enemies.

Usage

  • Uses splinter weapon on martial classes
  • Uses SoS at the start of a conflict
  • Uses Ancestors' Rage on party members with 2 or more enemies adjcent to them
  • Provides strong single target healing and anti physical protection

A very standard hero build which is used by most players due to its large utility and support which it offers. If this hero is being run consider bringing a tank to maximise Ancestors' Rage and/or a physical aoe party member to utilise splinter weapon best (Vow of Strength, Barrage ect)

Usage

  • Hero will place shelter and any other defensive spirits at the start of combat
  • Will auto attack untill a spirit dies
  • Will maintain Soul Twisting
  • Uses armour of unfeeling when spirits are summoned (not always great but makes a significant difference)

A very powerful defensive hero. In some areas where heavy AoE damage is common can be agreat help. However requires some microing, before combat manually activate Soul Twisting even if its up and summon shelter + any other spirits you want. This make it less likly for the hero to use shelter whilst Soul Twisting is not active, triggering the nasty recharge of 45 seconds. However with next to no offense not recommended unless specifically needed.

NB Spirits affect allies not just party members so can be used to defend key NPCs but is also made near useless by minion masters.
