Roleplaying[edit]

A large part of my gaming experience with any and all games, is creating a character. Even with First Person Shooters where characters are named and lined out, I like to go my own way and build upon it. But for games like Morrowind, Oblivion, Guild Wars, Unreal Tournament, there is no history defined behind the characters and I jump at the chance. Sometimes I create "short" stories. I say "short" loosely because my stories are too short to be novels but too long to be official "short" stories. I build entire storylines behind characters I did not originally create. But hell, the creators just gave em a name and plugged them into the game so as far as I'm concerned, it's free reign.

But other times I actually go out and roleplay the characters. With guild wars this is a little more difficult since you can't stand around and expect someone to walk up to you. In WoW, you had the Park in Stormwind where you could stand and wait, people would eventually interact with you. Guild Wars doesn't have a "spot" you can wait for people to interact with others. It's more difficult because there is more work to find them. And when *I* do, I have the awful luck of only being able to roleplay with one person at a time. But, it's fun and entertaining when one does get into it, and it's a great way to extend your playtime when you're finally bored of all else.

As a poet, writer, and gamer, this is how I combine all three of those things. Through Roleplay.

If you seek the collective information on my Vanguard theme, please see my main page.

Favorite Roleplaying Places[edit]

These are some of my choice places to roleplay in, but I'm just as happy to visit other players as long as some limitations are respected.

Shing Jea Island: For obvious reasons. It's open, not many hostiles. It's very versatile in the sense that you can be on these islands for almost any reason. Student, Trading, Crime, Anything!
Istan Island: For almost the same reason, only there's more hostiles therefore it would be more annoying to set up in some areas.
Lahtenda Bog: Certainly not every roleplayer's first choice, but it really does have some very nice spots. Specifically the middle circle that connects to give different areas that include a statue, some pillars, some ransacked huts. All it requires is a full team to kill your way there, then you can just flag the heroes or henches away from the roleplay scene.
Far Shiverpeaks: Specifically, some of the towns and not too far outside. The outposts hold some good little corner areas for any roleplay needs.
Bukdek Byway: Also with some areas in the Kaineng Center area. Holds some good storyline possibilities.

Limitations[edit]

Only two limitations I really care about.

  • Character Compatability - I don't enjoy sticking a good-hearted character with an evil or emotionless one of some sort. Conflict is nice but I'd rather not stick these characters together on purpose. If you want conflict, we can RP a mission or something (We can ignore mid-mission scenes and dialogue to warp it for our own uses.)
  • Character Regions - Some of my characters are exclusive to certain areas as I mentioned above. Nikki is a Norn hero, and is limited to the Shiverpeaks with some slight exceptions. Hasin is Am fah(sorta), and therefore is based around Cantha. H is an Elonian margonite, you can pretty much guess where my characters are exclusive too. The way an Ascalon Character can't (and shouldn't be found) in the jungle, some of my characters can't be found in some places. It's all for continuity.

Minor Limit[edit]

Not as much of a problem, but this is a spinoff of the "character regions" limit. I personally like having a reason for our characters to meet. I don't like the "Let's RP... HERE" spontaneous locations. In order to RP, our characters have to have a reason to be in the same place together. However, if you don't mind respecting MY region limit, then I won't yell at you if your character is just somewhere to be somewhere.
