A large part of my gaming experience with any and all games, is creating a character. Even with First Person Shooters where characters are named and lined out, I like to go my own way and build upon it. But for games like Morrowind, Oblivion, Guild Wars, Unreal Tournament, there is no history defined behind the characters and I jump at the chance. Sometimes I create "short" stories. I say "short" loosely because my stories are too short to be novels but too long to be official "short" stories. I build entire storylines behind characters I did not originally create. But hell, the creators just gave em a name and plugged them into the game so as far as I'm concerned, it's free reign.
But other times I actually go out and roleplay the characters. With guild wars this is a little more difficult since you can't stand around and expect someone to walk up to you. In WoW, you had the Park in Stormwind where you could stand and wait, people would eventually interact with you. Guild Wars doesn't have a "spot" you can wait for people to interact with others. It's more difficult because there is more work to find them. And when *I* do, I have the awful luck of only being able to roleplay with one person at a time. But, it's fun and entertaining when one does get into it, and it's a great way to extend your playtime when you're finally bored of all else.
As a poet, writer, and gamer, this is how I combine all three of those things. Through Roleplay. Enjoy.

[edit] Roleplaying
Yes, GW-RP does exist. I assume many tend to avoid asking in public channels if there are roleplayers about to avoid humiliation. But I will happily roleplay if you catch me at a good time.
| Note: These character's names do not always reflect the in-game names, please see the list on home page for In-game names |
The Vanguard: The Vanguard is an organization of a powerful, but unused legion of Anti Demon/Undead/Criminal fanatics bent on the destruction of said enemies. Most of the things they do is morally questionable, but they get the job done and make living a lot easier for the innocents. The Vanguard has one of the highest survival rates of any army in history, losing only about ten troops a year, rarely more.
The Vanguard recruits anyone and everyone, even exiles of their enemies.
- During roleplay, the mass armies of the Vanguard cannot be used due to them being too powerful. They will be nothing more than referenced in-game, during dialogue or otherwise.

The first, the widely known Ebon Vanguard who is bent on the destruction of the Charr. Researching them is easy.
The second Vanguard, with no prefix, simply known as the "Vanguard", is more difficult to find. Many reasons for this, since most questions of the Vanguard are directed towards the Ebon Vanguard in the Far Shiverpeaks. Anyone who seems to know that's not what they're looking for will quickly get frustrated with their interview and find someone else who's knowledge goes far beyond the common intelligence of Tyrian humans.
No. The Ebon Vanguard is not what you are currently researching. What you want is the fanatical anti-demon/undead/crime organization. They are not well known in Tyria, as their arrival was recent. And yet for some unknown reason there can still be files on them. Most are tattered notes with horrific drawings, representations of things that the Vanguard either fights... or even stranger, that they may even recruit. Whispers in the dark can reveal that the Vanguard recruits it's own enemies if they are devoted to correcting their ways.
The Vanguard may sound like a legit organization at first glance, but further research may reveal their motives are unclear, their tactics... a bit morally flawed. Not only do they recruit demons into their service, but their raids never end well. The Vanguard do not underestimate their enemies, and they send entirely too much into battle which leads to their high victory and survival rate. The Vanguard are very dangerous, bloody, violent and dark in their ways. While Ebon Vanguard are simply a resistance to the charr insurgents, The Vanguard has resistances going against them.
The Vanguard resemble a heightened empire at it's peak. With billions of soldiers and counting every day due to powerful summoners and monster creators. Their Symbol is merged with the triangle of the Eu'Sou (Which is a research topic all their own) and Resembles an ornate "V".
And the rest, as they say, is history.
[edit] Vanguard Officer: "H"
Mysterious to the point of having no name, she is revered under the alias "H". She claims her full alias is on a need to know basis and, nobody needs to know. She speaks slowly, quietly, and with a commanding tone, giving her voice a unique quality. She takes human languages to their full advantage and often uses larger words to give emphasis on her speaking. She's relatively docile, but becomes violent if her secrets are threatened. She's a margonite, a demon servant of abaddon. Her eyes are covered by the hood ( all six of them ) and a magical, shadow-viel helps keep most of her face hidden. What skin is seen, is actually another illusion to make her true nature more hidden. And, oddly enough, even though Abaddon is her main patron she is often seen worshipping all gods. Perhaps, she merely recognizes Abaddon as one of the few gods instead of forsaking them.
- For roleplay, H is very stoic and very docile. It will take some severe effort to get much out of her.
- Her real name is Haruhi. If you use this information ICly I will fucking stab you.
[edit] Diplomat and Merchant Namuen
-Actual History to come later-
- For Roleplay: Namuen is debates commonly, and is a mixture of bias and unbias in her opinions. She is neutral for the most part.
[edit] Vanguard Soldier: Nisai Oril
-Coming Soon-
[edit] Vanguard Agent: Chamo Saala
(Pronounced; Cham-oh-saa-lah): Chamo is not much more than the elementalist version of Jolei, which should make it no surprise on why they get along so insanely well. Chamo loves making things explode, whether it be buildings... or people. She delves into alchemy to find different ways to make things explode, implode, melt and degrade things faster.
Make no mistake, her scantily clad look may throw people off. Aside from her skimpiness, she is a brilliant woman, almost genius.
If you EVER see Chamo pull a red vial out of her pockets, BE SOMEWHERE ELSE.
- For roleplay, a lot like Nisai. Read up.
[edit] Nikki Strongaxe
Nikki has lived among the Norn for nearly her entire life. One of the very few humans ever to be accepted in their society untill the influx of heroes ever since the trouble began. Nikki has joined in the battles, with her foster father's Norn Axe she was rewarded with when she was very young. Nikki, due to Norn training was able to overcome many men, woman, and children of various ages even though they are five times as large and strong as she was. If it wasn't for Nikki's smaller stature and brown hair, she would have easily passed as a Norn herself.
When she is out and about, she is often found with her good friend Pyre Fierceshot. (I may need to rename him due to Lore issues.)
My goal is to complete a series of roleplay sessions that would trace Nikki's lineage back to Elona or Kourna, the campaign she was actually rolled in. (At first this was irrelevant, this character was born and bred to be pure-EoTn. But it would be neat to create a real backstory.)
- For roleplay, Nikki is relatively normal. A very neutral character. Probably could be roleplayed with anyone but true evil or fanatical characters of any intense sort.
[edit] Brawler Hasin Huayang
After countless years of drugging, drinking, murdering and ravaging with the Am Fah around Kaineng Center, Hasin has finally decided to slow it down and take her life to Shing Jea monestary to get herself clean of said impurities. Now, she's not looking for any type of spiritual renewal, as she keeps her brawling like ways and her tomboy-ish nature. She's simply looking to clean up her act. While she's immensily cleaner than she used to be, it's not uncommon for her to rejoin her old Am Fah friends for a smoke.
- Tidbit: Even though she's not "in the game", she still calls herself Am Fah, depending on present company.
I have purposely kept "Seek out brother tosai" permanetly for roleplay in Am Fah infested areas.
- For roleplay, Hasin is easy a tomboy, and can get along well with manly men, not so much of her own gender, strangely.
[edit] Theresa
Theresa can easily surprise people. When most people think Necromancer, they think of a dark minded, half insane magic user of evil alignment. Theresa is, surprisingly, a normal woman. She grew up in a large Necromancer faction where the art was looked upon, not outlawed. Her parents were always supportive, as was everyone who she knew. Not much bad has happened in Theresa's life to make her "dark." She greets everyone with normal behavior who looks at everything with a neutral attitude.
- For Roleplay: Since Theresa comes from a Necromancer society, she works well with both very good and extremely evil characters. Theresa is morally grey at best but knows when things might get too far.
[edit] Vanguard Soldier Jolei
Think of the most stereotypical warrior for a second, the most violent and fanatical one you can think of. [Maybe not from Guild wars. Perhaps a movie you've seen or a book you've read.] Think about an insane warrior happily shoving an axe into an enemie's nervous system, perhaps singing and laughing in the process.
Now, make this vision a female, and you have Jolei.
Jolei, a run-away princess and retired Ranger, gets her glee off of serving the Vanguard, since the Vanguard is never short of enemies to kill. She can be calm at times, but don't bother trying to talk to her on the battlefield. She does her job very well, which would be making things very dead.
Side note, she is sometimes found wearing kurzick armor, but is not a kurzick. When approached about this, she says "It just looks so cool."
Jolei wasn't always fun loving and care-free. She had to be a hardened survivalist while running away from the powerful knights her father sent to retrieve this runaway princess. That attitude has faded now that she is safe.
- For roleplay, Jolei gets along with the cheerier types. Does not go well with evil or the emotionless.
[edit] Vanguard Alitosh
The Vanguard is famous for it's violent magic users, so it's no surprise that Alitosh is put to good use. Ali follows the art of shadowcasting, a bloody, violent, and dark branch of magic. Her studies have shown that scholars who go too deep into this art lose themselves and become one with the shadow. When she's not studying all things Shadow, she has a splendid time of torturing minds, including the innocent.
- For Roleplay: She can read minds and fuck them up just as well, but most people don't have much to fear unless you purposely seek to provoke Alitosh. Works well with all characters.
[edit] What They Look Like
NOT SHOWN: Nisai, because current pic was inaccurate.
WISHLIST: Any goddamn thing for Namuen. Anything else for Chamo. Asuran for Alitosh.
NOTE: You might want to click and enlarge to see the characters better.
[edit] Favorite Roleplaying Places
These are some of my choice places to roleplay in, but I'm just as happy to visit other players as long as some limitations are respected.
Shing Jea Island: For obvious reasons. It's open, not many hostiles. It's very versatile in the sense that you can be on these islands for almost any reason. Student, Trading, Crime, Anything!
Istan Island: For almost the same reason, only there's more hostiles therefore it would be more annoying to set up in some areas.
Lahtenda Bog: Certainly not every roleplayer's first choice, but it really does have some very nice spots. Specifically the middle circle that connects to give different areas that include a statue, some pillars, some ransacked huts. All it requires is a full team to kill your way there, then you can just flag the heroes or henches away from the roleplay scene.
Far Shiverpeaks: Specifically, some of the towns and not too far outside. The outposts hold some good little corner areas for any roleplay needs.
Bukdek Byway ... Any some areas in the Kaineng Center area. Holds some good storyline possibilities.
[edit] Limitations
Only two limitations I really care about.
- Character Compatability-I don't enjoy sticking a good-hearted character with an evil or emotionless one of some sort. Conflict is nice but I'd rather not stick these characters together on purpose. If you want conflict, we can RP a mission or something (We can ignore mid-mission scenes and dialogue to warp it for our own uses.)
- Character Regions-Some of my characters are exclusive to certain areas as I mentioned above. Nikki is a Norn hero, and is limited to the Shiverpeaks with some slight exceptions. Hasin is Am fah(sorta), and therefore is based around Cantha. Theresa is a sunspear trainer, you can pretty much guess where my characters are exclusive too. The way an Ascalon Character can't (and shouldn't be found) in the jungle, some of my characters can't be found in some places. It's all for continuity.
[edit] Minor Limit
Not as much of a problem, but this is a spinoff of the "character regions" limit. I personally like having a reason for our characters to meet. I don't like the "Let's RP... HERE" spontaneous locations. In order to RP, our characters have to have a reason to be in the same place together. However, if you don't mind respecting MY region limit, then I won't yell at you if your character is just somewhere to be somewhere.
