[edit] Dances involving pelvic thrusts

This problem is compounded in a quest in elona where you are teaching a minor of the opposite sex to dance in Tihark Orchard MrPaladin talk 16:29, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] zzzz

  • Free the Fur: you actually save the rabbits, and rabbits being in rabbitcages isn't abuse.
  • Frogstomp: they're heket and they attack first.
  • Lambs to the Slaughter: Lambs being slaughtered isn't abuse, and the quest doesn't even involve any lambs at all.
  • Blow: you didn't have to list them all, and srsly just no.
  • Golden Pillar: like >95% of all wands...
  • Tease: no.

Not at all. If I can't make a character named Vaginal Explosion, I damn well don't think ArenaNet should be depicting such a thing. ··· Danny Pew Pew 16:28, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] I removed alot of the retarded ones and left the ones that range from reasonably inappropriate to absolutely inappropriate.

You sure you did?'cause most of the remaining ones still seem retarded. personn5 07:01, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

I agree - most of it is whining over nothing. First off, the technical term for toothy vagina is vagina dentata, and that is a bit of a stretch - in any case, if you're getting off on landscape features you have some serious problems. Corsair Seamen? Seamen != semen and the term is common for sailors - just because a word sounds like another word doesn't make it equal. Female elementalist dance is a traditional belly dance. My 5 year old niece knows the meaning of yellow snow, so if a 13 year old doesn't, you've kept them in a cave too long. Just because a name contains an inappropriate word doesn't mean it is meant to be bad, like Captain Quimang - I've worked with a Shital and an Assanti - OMG their names contain bad words too!!! In any case, quim is so archaic that most adults don't know it, much less kids. Blow and Sheath can be used outside of sexual contexts, so that's just whining. --Falseprophet 15:56, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
I believe the problem comes from the fact that you're missing the point... try to make a player name using these names and see if your name gets reported for inappropriate content... I think this page fills the purpose of pointing out the flaws in the naming standards and what is considered inapropriate in the game. so to your point, yes soome of them are silly, but so are some of the forced name changes and bans... MrPaladin talk 16:00, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
I'd like to point out that making a character with the name Vaginal Explosion would certainly result in a ban (if it were even possible to create the name), yet an animation that clearly looks like such a thing is permitted to roam freely across our monitors. It's quite horrific, really. ··· Danny Pew Pew 16:11, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
What I don't get is their inability to filter the names out before they're created. You know that "lol gaile" pic on PvX, danny? How did that guild name ever get created? It should have been filtered before creation :< There's just a lot of basic shit ANet is missing, and all they're doing is knee-jerk reaction bans instead of taking the initiative to stop players from seeing these names in the first place. -Auron 16:17, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
That was pretty hilarious, tbh. Frosty and I both lol'd when that flashed up. Filtering "Vagina" out of guild names would be terribly difficult, ye? ··· Danny Pew Pew 16:30, 7 July 2009 (UTC) ··· Danny Pew Pew 16:30, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
My point was many of these (and others Adrin has pointed out) still seem pretty silly, and maybe because I only know one person that got namebanned and that person used an ethnic racial hate phrase for their character name (in Serbian, as I recall). If you get banned by calling yourself something like "Seaman Shanty" or "Sheath Thy Sword" I'd understand griping about it, as these don't intentionally have sexual innuendo, but something like Quim Queefer, Seaman Upcunt, Flying Fsckhead, or Mary Jo Wanna is just asking for it. Again, it may just be that I haven't heard of any names getting banned that really didn't deserve it. --Falseprophet 20:41, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Mary Wanna, Mary Jo Wanna, and Marie Juana are all taken in game. Your point is invalid. ··· Danny Pew Pew 17:10, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Just because a name is taken doesn't mean it isn't inappropriate. I'm fairly sure A*Net only bans names if they are reported, so you may be fine for a while even with a completely inappropriate name. I personally don't have a problem with something like Mary Wanna, but my brother or my mom would (neither play computer games and both are VERY anti-drug). Its A*Nets responsibility to draw the line somewhere - for all they know, Jack Chick may be reporting it (shudder). --Falseprophet 17:37, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Gate Guard Wendell

Dialog talks about eating moa making someone more virile... by my dictionary that refers to male sexual performance... there are other remedies offered for other quite tame problems so I'm unsure why they bothered putting this one in... MrPaladin talk 14:07, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

There are also different definitions of virile. It also means energetic, vigorous, "having the nature, properties, or qualities of an adult male," strong, masculine... I realise that your definition might be one of the more commonly-used ones, but it isn't the ONLY one. Elysea 14:13, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
But therein lay the problem... could I make a warrior called "Virile Male" would I be prompted for a name change? MrPaladin talk 17:20, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Rating

Doesn't the T rating cover half of this crap? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Moo Kitty (talk).

It does and so does the fact that they say "experience may vary (because it's an online game)". Adrin, and others, are just pointing out that Anet is faaaaaaaar too hypocritical on this stuff. For example, you can't mention suicide in your guild name, character name, etc. However, Anet commonly mentions suicide in quests, skill descriptions, etc. Karate File:User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 23:00, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
ANet? Hypocritical? You think they actually think things through before saying it (I think one of the requirements for hypocrisy is the knowledge and acceptance of it, no?) On a side note, they don't have the foresight (or the hindsight) to even begin to understand their own hypocrisy. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Moo Kitty (talk).
You can be unknowingly hypocritical, as is the case. Karate File:User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 20:30, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
