Admin names

May I have your vote and/or opinion regarding the Admin names (on a three level draft) discussion here? Coran Ironclaw 22:48, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

I had a quick look, but I don't have very strong opinions either way so think I will leave that up to the community to decide. :) Thanks for letting me know! - BeX iawtc 02:43, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

List of all monk collector weapons in Eye of the North

Since you also work on collectors I thought it would be best to get your opinion on this. Would you consider this page a stub? Faden De Locke made this change to one of the collector weapons pages I have been working on and since I disagree with his/her change I wanted to get another opinion on this since it includes all weapons available in Eye of the North. --Kakarot Talk 04:20, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

By definition a stub is an article that is or has sections that are incomplete. Personally, that article has so much information in it already, that I would not call it stub, even if it is still a work in progress. ( The nature of a wiki means that no article would ever be fully "complete"). I suspect Faden added it because they were looking for a specific line and it isn't in there yet. If you finish your work on the article, and it isn't complete, then it would be fair to stub it because the template would draw other editors to help complete it, but if you are still working then it isn't necessary. :) - BeX iawtc 04:48, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Ok thanks Bex, just wanted a second opinion on the article :) At the moment it contains all weapons available to Monks in Eye of the North which I got from the general collector pages that Wynthyst made so it is complete in the sense that it contains all information currently available on this wiki. Whether that information is complete or not I'm not sure but if it needs to be stubbed I will add the correct tag {{Weapon-stub}} so it includes it in Category:Weapon stubs :) --Kakarot Talk 15:49, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
If you think it is complete, then don't worry about the stub. :) - BeX iawtc 01:51, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

How...

I saw in recent changes that your sig only included the four tildas. How do you accomplish that while allowing the image and text? My own sig is 140 characters or something. It would be nice to have that kind of trick. VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG14:22, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Whatever your sig code is, go to Preferences and put it in the box for nickname and then click "Raw signatures" on and save! My code is - [[User talk:BeXoR|<small>B</small>e<small>X</small>]] [[Image:User BeXoR sig.gif|iawtc]] so I don't even have to make the - and the space. :D - BeX iawtc 14:24, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Is there such thing as a signature formatting guide or template... because I am finding myself constantly taking pieces from other peoples sigs untill I am satisfied with my own, and sometimes it gets complicated and makes my brain hurt File:User Rockon Metal Jay Sig.JPG Jay 02:00, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Check out GWW:SIGN and the rest is just wiki code or html! - BeX iawtc 02:13, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Bex again! ur a big help, im pretty satisfied with my sig atm, I wont be changing it... yet lol xD - Jay File:User Rockon Metal Jay Sig.JPG 02:21, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

How are we supposed to be a IRCabal without you on irc? -Auron 13:55, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

IDK it's boring and no one ever talks except when you rant about boring pvp stuff. I get bored easy. - BeX iawtc 13:59, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Bah, you haven't been on there since I arrived with my old man witticisms! Oh, what's with the subst unsigned purge? Run out of armor pages? :D --SnogratUser Snograt signature.png 15:51, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Just another one of those maintenance things I do periodically. I guess I could get someone's bot to do it, but I like doing it myself. :)
And I went on IRC last night, and you (Auron) weren't even there. I'll join again, but only if you PROMISE TO ENTERTAIN ME. lol ^_^ - BeX iawtc 03:18, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Gibberbots

Remember to block them when you revert them ;) — Eloc 04:17, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

It stopped so there was no need. You don't need to remind me. - BeX iawtc 04:19, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
It will only just come back. And no need to be a jerk dude. Use a smiley in your sentences, it wont kill ya ;P — Eloc 04:21, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
You're imagining things that aren't there. - BeX iawtc 04:23, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Probly, has happened before, logging off now as that means I'm too tired. Ciao. — Eloc 04:25, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Goodnight - BeX iawtc 04:29, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
"It will only just come back." - Sure but with another ip. If a vandal bot stopped (like one hour without edit) you can be sure that that IP is save for some time. And we don't want to block anons for more that some days. poke | talk 06:36, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Yep. Gordon blocked it just now anyway. - BeX iawtc 06:41, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
I've seen quite a few of those IPs coming back the day they were unblocked. — Eloc 10:16, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

This probably has been suggested before, but I can't find anything about it in search: Why don't we simply block anonymous editing all together? I guess this might spam fake users tho, not sure. Those people always find ways to go around things. -- File:User Clantron sig.gif Clantron 11:04, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Disabling anon editing goes against the free-for-all contributing style that is behind a wiki. So much of our information comes from anons, and there's no requirement to register. There is a way to semi protect high risk pages, but you generally only want to do that for pages that are not likely to change very often anyway. - BeX iawtc 11:19, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
Yea makes perfect sense, good contributions are important and reverts are easely done :) -- File:User Clantron sig.gif Clantron 11:32, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Userbox images

Hey, thank you for sorting out my userbox images. I'm still getting my head around the various naming conventions here, and what goes where, etc. One question though: are all the other personal userbox images that aren't in the User: namespace currently in the wrong place? There are a few that I've seen like that, which is why I uploaded mine to the general image area (the Moo.png would be a good example from the cow userbox, as it doesn't seem to have any general Guild Wars relevance, yet is in the general image namespace). Cheers, --Bekkr 12:44, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

It really depends on how they are going to be used. Things like a flag are really global, but something like a guild logo or a joke picture should really be uploaded under your guild or user space. I has been suggested in the past that very widely shared user images (like those maps) be uploaded as "Image:User moo.jpg" etc, but I dont believe the policy was ever changed to include that. If you want to read up about it you can check GWW:USER and GWW:IMAGE. :) - BeX iawtc 02:22, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
