Signature[edit]

Even though we have no official policy on signatures right now, I'd be willing to bet that "no external links" shows up in it when we do, just like over on the GuildWiki. —Tanaric 13:56, 8 February 2007 (PST)

Gaile log...[edit]

Ummm... What gives? Do you even know what a Gaile log is? Why not let Gaile define what that it is? I'll remove your entry for now. --Karlos 15:48, 8 February 2007 (PST)

Dont players SS their chat to log it...?Blastedt(talk)GuildWiki page 15:49, 8 February 2007 (PST)
Ummm, I doubt it. I'd rather ask her what was planned for that section, or remove it. This was in the skeleton Main Page created by ANet when they first set this up. Perhaps they meant for it to be a blog set up by Gaile, or something else, I don't know. However, I do know that it won't be screen shots of player conversations with her from Lion's Arch. --Karlos 15:53, 8 February 2007 (PST)

ANet didn't add the Gaile logs, someone added "Frog and Gaile Logs" and I changed it to "Gaile logs" — Skuld 00:21, 9 February 2007 (PST)
No I did not make the log. But I wonder, what's the opinion on logging official chats? I find logs or other records of chats to be infinitely helpful, because I cannot possibly be screenshooting while I'm involved in dozens of convos as once. (Nor can I turn off "all chat" to take an effective screenshot.) The usefulness of logs for me is that they enable me to review the questions asked based on the answers or comments I made in response, and they also allow me to follow up on player questions with the rest of the dev team. Is there a reason to not have them here? (And I guess if I'm willing to share the space, is there a reason to not include those from The Frog, when he/she/it speaks, too?) I don't feel that having or not having this section is my decision to make, and I know that I cannot be the one to provide the actual screenshots so it would require community support to be kept current. I also know and value the current logging projects that are going on. Specially about OGWW, I am glad that the log question was asked early on. So I'd like to know if this is a go, no go, or wait and see. Thanks for any input you can provide. --Gaile Gray 15:09, 9 February 2007 (PST)
it would be awesome to have them by dates, then if something big happens (like you confirming that c4 is actually going to be in antartica), we link the date from the article with a template. User Blastedt sig.jpgBlastedtGuildWiki page 15:12, 9 February 2007 (PST)
I know on guru at least the logs are usually captured by screenshot and posted. It might be useful to have a transcript of the log here (instead of posting the screenshot) though that would involve someone typing it up. Lojiin 15:13, 9 February 2007 (PST)
:P User Blastedt sig.jpgBlastedtGuildWiki page 15:16, 9 February 2007 (PST)
These logs are very valuable and a good reference for a lot of topics. And it would be so much nicer to have a transcript of them here for easier reading. It can get annoying thumbing through screenshots. Not to mention there are a bunch of people lurking around here that wouldn't mind typing them up. *points to self* Kaya-Icon-Small.png 15:19, 9 February 2007 (PST)

Editing articles that appear in PvP tactics category[edit]

Your edit of the warrior section body block was in error. See the talk page of that article if you have questions. I have reverted and edited it to read "PvP warriors", for the situation described is accurate for PvP warriors.

Once we get a substantial number of PvP articles on the wiki I anticipate having to spend considerable time protecting them from errors. So as people make edits that are in error, I will ask them (as a favor) to avoid making further edits to articles in the PvP tactics category without first identifying issues in the talk page.

Thanks.

anet changed it. allies dont bodyblock no more User Blastedt sig.jpgBlastedtGuildWiki page 15:57, 12 February 2007 (PST)
I'm going to change it back now, Blastedt. They do bodyblock each other in PvP, which is what the article is referring to (might want to look at the tag). Yes, they don't bodyblock each other in PvE, but that's irrelevant to the actual point of the topic. So, please don't revert it again. --Dirigible 16:02, 12 February 2007 (PST)
I'm upset that this has turned into a revert war. While the change was made to PvE to eliminate friendly body blocks, in PvP that is not the case.
I'll ask that you please not edit articles appearing in the PvP tactics category with first discussing the issue the talk section and achieved consesus. Please do not continue this behavior.--Drekmonger 16:07, 12 February 2007 (PST)
Enter Random Arena and try running through your teammates, it doesn't happen, granted, the bounding boxes are thinner then enemy's (mentionned) but you can't run through them. Let's say there's 5 warriors training a target, and each warrior is represented by a cylinder. they get body blocked, and they do, I don't htink i've gvg'ed on something that wasn't a warrior or a dervish. I get body blocked on my own teammtes going around a door.--Narcism 16:16, 12 February 2007 (PST)

Blastedt, that was completely uncalled for and you were in the wrong on the page in question. Please remain civil in your discussions. --Rainith 17:26, 12 February 2007 (PST)
Can he please not tell me I'm not allowed to edit unless I come talk it over with him first? Besides, Auron said you don't block in pvp, and I <3 auron and think he's always right. So ha! (drek, I think I still hate you) User Blastedt sig.jpgBlastedtGuildWiki page 17:35, 12 February 2007 (PST)
Blastedt, when I read his comments it honestly does not seem like he is telling you that you are not allowed to. It reads like he is asking you to behave differently as a favor to him (he even mentioned "as a favor" in his first comment). I think it's perfectly acceptable for you to choose to refuse his request, but regardless of who is right or wrong, it's better to stay civil about it. --Rezyk 19:34, 12 February 2007 (PST)

User Pages[edit]

I've been going through Special:Listusers and looking for Userpages that don't match the newly ratified Guild_Wars_Wiki:User_page policy., and you might want to take a look at the section titled "Main User Page Restrictions." Your main page breaks the part regarding the length of the user page (it seems to be about 4-5 times as long as the limit). Eh, what you change is up to you. Just thought I'd make sure you knew the policy =) Pepe talk 14:50, 22 February 2007 (EST)

It is now mostly in a subpage (the userboxes) which is allowed, and nothing says about inclusions of a subpage. User Blastedt sig.jpgBLASTEDT 16:01, 23 February 2007 (EST)
While I don't particulaly mind as I don't habitually visit user pages. Note the following sentence from the policy : The fully expanded length of your page must comply by this restriction. This would seem to indicate that your page is not in compliance as circumventions to the length may not be used to bypass the "3 screen" length limitation. Lojiin 16:09, 23 February 2007 (EST)

(RI, EC) This is coming from someone who doesn't know Linux so far, but reading around, it looks like there's a setting in wine for the default c drive location (it says the options are in System-->Preferences-->Wine Configuration-->Drives with the default /home/USER/.wine/drive_c) that is the path you need to be using. So if you had the setup.exe in "/home/tim/.wine/drive_c/Black and White" and then ran "wine C:\Black and White\setup.exe", I -think- that's how you do it. Good luck. Also, slightly fewer characters in your edit summaries would make my Recent Changes page happier :p - Tanetris 00:24, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Gragh, goodbye Linux, hello bought windows. User Blastedt sig.jpgBLASTEDT 19:33, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
As I said yesterday, having Ubuntu installed has no relevance on whether you can boot from a CD or not, as Ubuntu itself loads AFTER that has (or has not) happened. Go into your BIOS menu, make sure that your computer looks for an OS on the CD first, before trying to boot from the harddisk.
Also, formatting the drive where Ubuntu is residing while running Ubuntu is simply not a good idea. Just format it via the 98/XP or Ubuntu install CD.
