Images[edit]

Please name your image uploads intuitively. Gwn-scr051-lrg.jpg doesn't tell people anything. Thanks.  :) --Rainith 12:04, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

Also, please tag each image with {{arenanet image}} as you upload them. Thanks. --Dirigible 15:23, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

Your Eye Of The North edits[edit]

Hi - I have reverted your edits to the above named article; the previous article was formatted as per our style and format guidelines, but your edits turned it into more of an advertizing feature. Although we are the "official wiki", we are still aiming to maintain an "encyclopaedic" stance :) Fox 07:13, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Regarding your recent image uploades[edit]

Hi,

Recently, you uploaded three images; File:User_Bobit_Mary's_Apple_Orchard.jpg, File:User_Bobit_Nicholas_and_Mary.jpg, and File:User Bobit Nicholas the Traveler and Professor Yakkington.jpg.

The method you used to upload these images did not comply with image policy, which basically states: "any image uploaded for personal use must be prefixed with the word "User", followed by the appropriate user name."

I made the proper naming corrections for you, but in the future please take note of this policy and ensure you appropriately name your images prior to uploading them. (This can be done via the uploading screen itself, you don't have to change the file name.)

Additionally, you did not correctly tag any of those images with the {{user image}} tag. When you upload an image, there is a check box you can select to make an image as a user image, which will automatically give it the appropriate tag.

If for some reason you forget to do this, you can always go to the file page and press the "edit" button and manually type in {{user image|Bobit}}. The suffix is a parser function which allows the wiki to properly categorize, and keep track of image uploads.

Thanks for co-operation, have a great day!

File:Spot-postsearing_traveler.png also did not comply with policy, and lacked the proper tagging. I assume this is because you did not view your talk page prior to uploading the file. I'll make the appropriate changes now. Again, thank you for your understanding regarding the importance of this procedure. User Ryuu R.jpgRyuu  *bite* 19:04, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
In case you were, in fact, uploading this file for the mainspace on the Nicholas the Traveler page, there is already a rendered image uploaded for that purpose, so we don't need another one. I hope this clears up any possible confusion. User Ryuu R.jpgRyuu  *bite* 19:06, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Nicholas the Traveler/Collector[edit]

What are you trying to do on that page? --JonTheMon 19:53, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm just reworking the Nicholas the Traveler page at the moment, the formatting guidelines say that Nicholas the Traveler/Collector should be transcluded onto the main page. The first time I did it I hadn't realised it was also transcluded with variables onto item pages, so I broke all of those. My second attempt doesn't break anything, though. --Bobit 19:55, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
What formatting guideline? --JonTheMon 19:59, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
The one for NPCs; "Add a section called Collector items to list the items offered. A table listing the name, requirement and rewards of the particular NPC. This information is placed on a separate page for inclusion in the article and collectible item articles. These subsections can also be indexed in pages such as Collector." --Bobit 20:00, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
I don't see how that relates to what you wanted to change. That sub-page was used as a template to be placed on the items that he collects. That's it. --JonTheMon 20:06, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
The sub-page also needs to be placed on the page for the NPC, but the problem you get is that the sub-page needs to be dynamic on Nicholas' page and static on item pages. The solution is to make it dynamic when listed without specifying any variables, and static when variables are specified. --Bobit 20:08, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
The sub-page isn't used on Nick's main page b/c he's slightly different from other NPCs; it's already listed under the heading "As a collector". --JonTheMon 20:12, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Yes but I'm revamping the page to make it consistent (within reason) with other collector pages, which necessitates the change. --Bobit 20:17, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Then you need to bring it up on Talk:Nicholas_the_Traveler. Personally, I don't think it needs a change. --JonTheMon 20:19, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Ok, but I'll need to change the sub-page anyway for the mock-up to work properly. That's not a problem as long as the change doesn't affect any other articles, right? --Bobit 20:22, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
If consensus is for change, then yes it'll need to be changed. but not before then. --JonTheMon 20:26, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
