- Well, you seem to understand a lot of it :). But if you want to use the assassin icon in your signature, you need to reupload it as your own image, with a name like "User Ninja Dragon sig.jpg". Thanks, Calor (t) 23:46, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Lol sorry but can you tell me how to do that I had a hell of a time just finding the image..... Minikitty
Err, Brains, can I get a little help at user talk:Minikitty? Check the edit history and/or RC also. Calor (t) 23:34, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Today's update
Monitor the talk page. Apparently you're a.. ahh, I forget the term Riven on his little proxy used. But you may want to ban that IP and protect the talk page from everyone but Sysops. Calor (t) 21:57, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- protecting that talk page won't do much and should only really be used as a last resort. --Lemming

- (Edit conflict) I've blocked the proxy, but I don't plan on protecting a talk page. --

GWW:SIGN
Always give a reason while reverting please. Speaking of which, what was the reason? — ク Eloc 貢 22:53, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- You don't change the context of a policy without proposing it first (sorry, I thought that was clear). It was left out of the draft for a reason (I'm guessing so it doesn't force anyone with a shortened/easily recognisable verion of a signature to register an account), which you can probably find on the talk page of the draft version. As for the change, it's probably not needed as a policy doesn't have to include something for it to be allowed. --
Brains12 \ Talk 22:56, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- (double edit conflict) Guild Wars Wiki:Policy#Changing existing policies - It was a draft, and it was accepted. If there is something left out, you cannot simply readd it again. poke | talk 23:00, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

- And the draft was still without that section and accepted. poke | talk 23:07, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) Something passing previously doesn't indicate it being necessary to be passed now. As I said, it was probably omitted on purpose for a reason, which I'm sure is written on the talk page of the draft version. If you want that clause to be there, just post something on GWWT:SIGN asking it to be put back. --

Stress-o-meter
Just to let you know, your stress-o-meter on your main page as well as this talk page seems to be centering itself putting the bar and text outside the box. At the moment the only solution I have found is to add <div style="text-align:left"> and </div> on either side of the Status inclusion. While this does fix the problem it might not be the most effective solution since you'd have to do it to each page you want it on. However another solution I just thought of would be to add the above code onto the actual Status page but I can't be sure it would work since I'd have to save it to check. --Kakarot

- Yeah I saw there were a few problems with it when I put it up yesterday, but it was getting late and I was tired so I left it thinking I would fix it today. To be honest, I'd rather remove it, it's nothing critical. Thanks for letting me know btw --

GW2W How To Help
Hey Brains I was wondering if I would go in violation of the Copyright policy if I copied the How To Help Section into GW2W. I wasn't sure, and on that note would it be relvent because the game isn't out yet? I am just trying to put in some links for my new welcome thing for GW2W but we don have any :P lol. - As GWW and GW2W follow the same copyright license, you could theoretically copy things between the two wikis. Just make sure you put a link to the original article in the edit summary. Btw, there is a how to help already on GW2W - gw2:Guild Wars 2 Wiki:How to help. --

(Reset indent) To keep the suggestions and opinions going, I just have to say that (IMHO) that blue is too... dunno, too blue? Also, looking at the code on top of this talk page it seems that it was intentional of you to have your "box" on the right side of the TOC, but I would suggest moving it above the TOC instead (still centered though). If you don't have a big enough browser window it doesn't look too good as it is (not that I don't have high enough resolution, I just don't see the point of full screen browser windows in 1600x1200). :P — Galil
18:42, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think I'll change that colour, I'm not really liking it either. And how about limiting the width of the TOC, would that look ok? I didn't really want it below the box because the page gets too lengthy. --

I myself have a larger window (about 100 pixels less width than Guild Wars Wiki:User page/1280x1024), though. But yeah, limiting the width would work. :) — Galil

is this just a temp bug or is that image on your userpage really no image here on gww? it doesn't link anywhere for me, i.e. i don't even get the typical link cursor. how'd you do it? - Y0_ich_halt
17:00, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- It's part of the coding - I don't really understand how it works, but the
div style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 520px; height:375px;"is what makes that happen. Took the code from Galil, so you're better off asking him. Btw, that doesn't work for IE (pfft) --

- lol@ie. and now that you mention it, i know what you mean :) - Y0_ich_halt
17:16, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- Basically, it works by creating a div with non-specified background (thus transparent), with the size of the image (520x375 is slightly bigger, but includes positioning and stuff) and at the location of the image, but since it's created and positioned after the image is, it covers the image itself and thus it also covers the link. The reason you need a div surrounding both the image and this one with
style="position: relative;"is cause elements with absolute positioning (such as the transparent div) gets their position relative to the closest parent whose position isn't static (default go-with-the-flow positioning), and setting a div's position to relative doesn't screw up it's position one bit unless you add coordinates withleft, top, bottomorright. ;) — Galil

- Thanks. ;) I'll try to describe in (even more newbish terms). When you create a
<div>without any style-attribute specified, it automatically gets some styles set anyway (since if it didn't have a style, it wouldn't have a position, or width, or height, or .. you get the point). One of these CSS-properties (CSS = Cascading Style Sheets, that's what you use in the style-attribute) is position, which tells the browser how to position the element in question, in this case our div. The position-property takes 4 different values.static: The default. The automatic positioning the browsers do.absolute: Let's the writer of the CSS give the element absolute coordinates using theleft-,top-,bottom- orright-properties.relative: Uses the same properties as absolute, but tells the browser they contain relative coordinates instead. For example, a top of 2px would move the element 2 pixels down, and a top of -2px would move it 2 pixels up.fixed: Those coordinate-properties are relative to the window's left/top/right/bottom instead of the document's and the element remains in that position even if you scroll.
- Now, no elements that have a position of static can be considered containing blocks, as in: No element will ever have their coordinates relative to them. Any element with another position however becomes a containing block, and any element defined inside such a block with position set to absolute will have those coordinates relative to this element's coordinates instead of the document's. So what does it mean in practise? I'll take an example line by line, with the background image of my userpage.
- Thanks. ;) I'll try to describe in (even more newbish terms). When you create a

<div style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100px; height: 100px;"></div> <div style="position: relative;"> [[Image:User Galil page-background.jpg]] <div style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 900px; height: 515px;"></div> </div>
- The first line of this creates a div with it's position set to absolute, meaning absolute positions. This element's containing block is the document, since it isn't defined inside another element with a non-static position. As such, this row would create a div at the top left corner of the document, with a width and height set to 100 pixels, even if you put it at the very end of your document.
- After that, we create another div which has it's position set to relative. Seeing as elements with relative positioning always have their coordinates relative from their own position, and we haven't given the element any coordinates, it will always remain in the exact same spot it would've ended up in if it was a static element. The difference from a static element though, is that this is now a containing block and any absolutely positioned elements inside this one will have their coordinates relative to this element instead of the document.
- If you don't know what the third line does, GTFO. >:(
- The fourth line is where the magic happens. As you may see, this absolutely positioned element is defined inside the relatively positioned div. As such, the relatively positioned div is its containing block. Since we've set both its top and left coordinates to 0px (nothing, niet, nada, null, etc) this element's top left corner will end up in the top left corner of the relatively positioned div (which is also where the image happens to be), with a width and height of 900x515 pixels (the exact same size as my background-image!). Since this element is rendered after the image however (since it appears after the image in the document), it is placed on top of the image, essentially covering it and its link.
- The fifth line just ends the definition of the relatively positioned div.

Redirects?
Is it within the bounds and rule of the wiki to make a short-hand of my user name (ie: User:PoA) and make those various pages redirect to my own? I think I saw Eloc do it, but I wasn't sure if I would step on anyone's toes if I did so. Thanks! --People of Antioch talk

- The reason User:Eloc is a redirect is because the older version of GWW:SIGN said if signatures that included a shorter version of a user name (i.e. Eloc signs as Eloc, not Eloc Jcg), that name needed to be registered and redirected. I don't really think you should do it for the sole reason of an abbreviation though, so I would say it's best not to. --
