Signature image

Hey Calor :) Could you please upload an individual image for your signature? According to GWW:SIGN signature images must be unique to a user and be of the format Image:User Example sig.png or something similar :) Thanks! LordBiro 21:54, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Ok, I had read it before and missed that I guess. I'll just take it away for now, and figure it out later. Ranger-faded-large.pngCalor| talk 22:24, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Ok, I reset it for now, I'll think up something later this week in my free time. Calor 22:30, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm probably going to stick with this unless there's some flaw in it....A little wiki-worn out from making those pages and edits. Calor - talk 00:15, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

hai, don't force edits through :p

The warning that popped up when you tried to save the first time said that the page had been deleted. Please heed those warnings in the future instead before clicking "Submit" again. -Auron 00:16, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

GWWT does not listen to warnings, Auron :P poke | talk 00:18, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Lol, edit conflict with Poke there. I was using GWWT, and whenever I press back with it, the page gets double-tagged if that's my last action. I should've clicked link instead of back. Next time I'll be extra careful. My fault. Calor - talk 00:20, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
The brilliance of technology... -Auron 00:21, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Bah, rving vandalism, just to get bright orange "new messages" tag instead. Anyways, everything has flaws. GWWT makes tagging SOOO much easier, but has the tiny flaw there. Thanks anyways for it, Poke. Calor - talk 00:23, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Access Key

you answerd one of my qeustoins earler the headline was help!! umm i dont seem to have that card you mentoined what shude i do?

Did you buy the game online? Or in an actual store? Calor - talk 00:44, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
i got it at the store wall mart
Ok, so you physically have a box. If the black square card isn't in there, then it either a) fell out, be it in your house/car/whatever or b) For some reason or another, it didn't come with the access key code card. Look around a bit, because it easily could've fallen out if the packaging was opened before yo uwere at your computer. If you can't find the access card, my only remaining suggestion would be to go and file a support ticket on the GuildWars website. Search around the site a bit, especially in FAQs, to see if somebody had a similar problem, and how that was resolved. Calor - talk 01:39, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

My Images

Hi Calor, I know what I need to fix now, but I don't know how to change the images description. Can you tell me how to do that? Pushbiscuit 04:48, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

The images you've already uploaded will soon be deleted. Forget about those. Go to upload file, and select the file you want to upload (In this case, character pictures). Under the second box called "Destination Filename", change the name to "User Pushbiscuit HalcyonBiscuit.jpg" or "User Pushbiscuit Votel.jpg" or "User Pushbiscuit Pushbiscuit.jpg". From there, you know how to link ti your userpage, as you did with the other photos. I hope that answers your question. Calor - talk 05:00, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Wait...that's not what your asking. You uploaded the files fine. OK. SO what "Image description" are you talking about? Calor - talk 05:02, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

image rules

hi, as u said, i was wrong about the image title. i fixed it and now u can delete the old one. thank you very much for your comment. i just forgot to read the rules for images. (Padre / talk)

No problem. I, personally, can not delete images because I'm not an administrator. Only administrators have the power to delete images and pages, but I can tag them for deletion. Anyways, enjoy editing on the wiki and the community! Calor - talk 18:53, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Uncategorized Images

I have this sudden... respect and... sympathy for Fall, going through 3000+ images and categorizing them. And thirty a day feels bad, plus informing the users who uploaded the images about violating image naming policy. Calor - talk 19:10, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

I would like to thank you for adding the guild image tag to my cape image. I'm a newbie to this and while I'm trying hard to get up to speed on all the policies, that was one I missed. It was a nice change to have you just add it, without throwing a policy violation in my face, which has happened way too often in the past few days. Cheers!--Wynthyst 11:23, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
No problem. There are far more people on the wiki than me that do far more work than me. They deserve the credit. And adding user/guild image tags is simple, and forgetting to tag them upon uploading isn't a crime, we just ask that people tag images they upload so the Uncategorized Images List isn't flooded. Thanks for joining the wiki. Calor - talk 18:54, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

hey thx for ur help ill change image's name later =P atm im a little busy =P hehe btw can can u help me making my user profile better? xD heh well, have fun ^^(///)symb(\\\) 23:47, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

No problem on the images, and I saw that, sneaky, changing from "steal some of your userboxes" to "get help with my userpage". Anyways, use what you want, just some small note at the bottom of your page, or the last userbox, or something, saying something along the lines of "Certain aspects of this user's page are inspired by Calor's page". Word it how you want. 23:54, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

gwwt

Could you please try to not press back after tagging with gwwt? You always double-tag it.. poke | talk 18:31, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

I noticed...natural habit is to click back, because I have the buttons on the mouse. I'll just make sure to be more deliberate in what I do after tagging. And, out of curiosity, what mechanic is it that causes the double-tagging in GWWT? Calor - talk 18:34, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
The parameters are given through the url, so when you press back, gwwt will perform the same actions again. This will be changed in the next revision though (coming soon!!! :D) poke | talk 18:35, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Ahhh...now it makes sense. New revision soon?!?! *gets excited* Calor - talk 18:36, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Account names

On the how to help page you've actually made a couple of wrong answers, since the account name isn't always an e-mail adress. If a user first creates a PlayNC account and buys the game through PlayNC then the account name is their PlayNC account name. :) -- Gem (gem / talk) 22:10, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Bear Spirit

Why mesmer? Have you seen it use skills? Backsword 08:09, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

I screenied it. During Flames of the Bear Spirit (I did it during the preview weekend), I saw the Bear Spirit, and took a bunch of screens of level, prfession, character, dialogue, location, quests, etc. to add to the wiki later. Going back through the screens, on the health bar, it said "Me 20 Bear Spirit". Sadly, I had no more need for the screens, so I deleted them. Maybe I'll go through the Norn arc on one of my other chars, and upload a screen of it. Calortalk 19:20, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
weird. the only npcs where i could see their class so far were Moss Spiders and Wintersday Moas. But these always show their class, i wonder how this Me got in this screenie. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 11:43, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Ya, the functionality of the profession in the enemy bar is on sometimes, off others, and it becomes slightly annoying, especially when documenting with screens for the wiki. Calortalk 14:10, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

I had about 6 but I saw (on the first day) someone saying "Selling Miniature Pigs (26 left)" :P poke | talk 19:53, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
I almost spent 20k on one, and I saw something similar in Drok's Forge. "WTS Mini Pigs 15 left 10k each" iirc. Calortalk 19:54, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
XD, I got them all from just being AFK in Shing Jea. But ya Calor, I increased the limit as the people who placed ahead of you didn't take all of their items they could have. — Eloc 01:49, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Why are you changing subst's templates with unsubst'd ones? — Skakid HoHoHo 02:29, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Huh? The merchant dialogue was without a template, and Tedium had begun inserting one for the dialogue, as it is the same for all merchants, AFAIK. I decided to speed things up for him and do it for other merchants, starting in Prophecies. If I missed something somewhere, show me and I'll fix any mistakes I made. Calortalk 02:34, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
It's generally a bad idea to use templates on a lot of pages, because if they're vandalized it may lag the wiki because it has to change every page witht hat template on it. instead, use {{subst:TemplateName}} — Skakid HoHoHo 02:42, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Ahh, kk. I'll go back and fix it in a few minutes. Calortalk 02:48, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Since this is partially about me, I thought I would comment. From what I understand of using subst: the contents of the template are saved rather than the template call. Essentially, the dialogue is separated from the actual template and so if the template is modified, the changes don't reflect in the dialogue section of each merchant page. The purpose of the merchant dialogue template is standardize the merchant dialogue. If there was a decision to change the styling of the dialogue, a simple change to this template would save from the work of modifying every merchant page. Tedium 03:48, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Aye, I kinda misconstrued what you were doing, I think. I just read up more on the subst: function. It takes what the template would have displayed with the parameters, etc., then just dumps the template and takes the info, and saves the page with the info. Calortalk 03:58, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Personally, I feel the benefits on not using subst: outweigh the potential for vandalism, but not sure if others agree. Guild Wars Wiki talk:Community Portal#Protection of templates had a similar discussion on a larger scale involving the infobox templates. Tedium 04:39, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
It was ugly when those templates were hit. It's worth it on minor cases such as this, but would need a bot run for every template change on things such as NPC, location, etc. infobox that are bigger. Calortalk 04:44, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Miniature Panda editor conflict

thanks for helping adding the {{Miniatures nav}} tag :) —ZerphatalkThe Improver 22:38, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

I saw you doing it, and I just put up the XMas tree (Oops, it's a crime, I said XMas :p), so I'm kinda bored. I kinda figured I EC'ed u twice, because you didn't have any contributions in the RC list past the first few minis, then saw you went to the whites. Anyways, thanks and you're welcome, Calortalk 22:40, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Anyways, you did about 35, I only did something like 15. Calortalk 22:44, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
yeah, but i also started earlier^^ and when i noticed that the panda weren't the only miniature where you wanted to add the tag - after the second EC - i supposed you continue the list from the panda on, so i started from the end upwards until we'll have met again. but what do you mean with "RC list"? —ZerphatalkThe Improver 23:29, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
I figured that out, too. RC list = Recent Changes. Calortalk 23:32, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) "recent changes list" maybe? but where? the last changes can also be seen in the user contribs. is it a(nother) special page at all? —ZerphatalkThe Improver 23:33, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
No. RC = Recent Changes = Recent Changes list = Same as button on left sidebar that you click, between Community Portal and Random Page. Calortalk 23:34, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
ok, thanks —ZerphatalkThe Improver 23:38, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Humor thing

Hey thanks for the response!

i dont mean to be annoying but i was wondering

on many of the humor pages they make like fake skills pages.

how do u set up the page to make it look like a skill type page?

Sure, np. I believe {{skill infobox}} is the way to go about it, but I may be wrong. Of course, you'd need to upload your own images for the skill icon. Enjoy, Calor (t) 21:24, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Use code from something like User:Y0 ich halt/Skills/GWWT. I'm not sure if you would be wise to use a skill infobox template, it may categorise your user skill with real skills.-- Brains12Talk 21:26, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Categorization never occurred to me. Hmm, search around Category:Humor for a bit until you find skill humor, then take a look at the coding. Calor (t)
