Also, please don't put the name of the region as the value. Putting "Cantha" or "Vabbi" will put NPCs inside the regional categories of Category:Cantha and Category:Vabbi. I suggested "Canthans" rather than "Cantha", and "Vabbians" rather than "Vabbi" since because I noticed that it's always plural and it's those that I noticed Eloc using. Image Upload

I don't know who to ask about this, so I'll ask you. I'm trying to upload an image, but every time I try it comes up saying the file is corrupted or whatever. I tried redoing the image in other programs, but it still didn't work. Any advice? --Lustre Of Havoc 05:47, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, maybe try uploading another image as a test image to see if your other things work. If not, try making a new copy of that image by just cropping out the image from paint program or something like that and putting it into a new file. — ク Eloc 貢 15:13, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

I did, and the second picture was too big. I found that saving the picture in Paint works, but the size is too large. It's confusing because I see a lot of pics larger than this one. --Lustre Of Havoc 19:50, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

What format is the image you are trying to upload? Also, there's no specific limit to how big the files can be (I think). It just recommends that it not be higher than a certain size. — ク Eloc 貢 00:27, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure neither of those are valid file extensions. For the Paint Shop Pro, there should be an option to export it as a .jpg. As for the .bmp, it might be acceptable, but the only problem with them are they have huge file sizes, hence why it probably wouldn't take it. In Paint, click save as and save it as a .jpg file and it should be fine. Other extension which are accepted by the server here would be .gif and .png incase you wanna use those formats. — ク Eloc 貢 01:35, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Is there any particular reason you decided yet again to claim ownership of an IP address? I thought it had already been decided that no one can claim ownership of an IP. While you may not be redirecting it as you did last time, if for any reason your IP address changed and a vandal got hold of it you could end up getting blocked since you have posted that it belongs to you (you have taken full responsibility for anything that IP address does). ArenaNet are technically the highest rank, as they have control of the servers and aren't regulated directly by the community -- the rest of us (users, sysops and bureaucrats) are all decided within the community. However, ArenaNet don't really play a part in administrative issues or wiki-side stuff (like policy, user issues or content), so that's left to us normals. Yep, I’m serious. To start with, Firefox is licensed under the GPL, which is compatible with the GFDL - so that's fine on the wiki. Opera is Proprietary software, so I doubt that its screenshots could be licensed under the GFDL. IE - that's MS, so no. Basically, any free software that it compatible with the GFDL can be uploaded here. Same with Safari is LGPL, so that should be OK. So – it depends on what is in the image if it can be uploaded here. The image update tag is just there to remind other editors that a better version of the image can still be obtained (ie. without interface) if they want to give it a try, but has no real effect over the actual image. It is clearly a violation of copyright. The offending image contains screenshots of World of Warcraft, which is copyrighted by Blizzard. Even if they don't care, even if they see it, and do nothing, it is still a problem. Guild Wars Wiki:Copyrighted content clearly states how non-GFDL content is not allowed. As long as the policies prevent non-GFDL content, I will continue to seek and remove said content.

I heard that there is a price guide to weapons here on wiki. Is this true? Can you please give me a link in my discussion page or in a private message so that I remember to go there? As far as I know, there isn't a price guide for weapons here on Guild Wars Wiki as it is mostly discouraged here. However, you could try Guild Wars Guru's Forums. They have price guides and you can post in the Price Check forum for price checking. — ク Eloc 貢 22:29, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

no, all three are japanese. kanji are symbols that stand for verbs, nouns and adjectives. the hiragana alphabet is used for word endings, suffixes and for anything by children who don't know the kanji. every hiragana also has a coutnerpart katakana, which are used for foreign words like "talk". if you change your game setting to japanese for a moment and look at your skill panel, all skill names and attribute names are actually exactly the english names written in katakana. yup, they were too lazy to think of japanese names, but that's usual in mmos. the funny thing is, most japanese kanji also exist in chinese with different pronounciation but usually the same meaning, so part of the two languages actually look the same. however, chinese consists of only kanji (which are the most complicated of those three symbols, which is why children in japan learn hiragana first) while in japanese there's always hiragana showing up inbetween as suffixes and prepositions etc. korean looks no similar to either of them, it's easily distinguishable since it's the only of the three languages that has circles. - Y0_ich_halt 16:42, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Ah, kewl. I had a friend from Germany once. He was fluent in 4 languages (excluding German) by the time he made it out of college. Well, part of that comes from the fact that English is required to learn in schools there and a 3rd language is optional, and part of that came from the fact that his mom was from spain. He started English in 5th grade and french in 7th, Chinese in college and learned spanish from his mother. I don;t rightfuly know where he went to college, it could have been in Germany, as when I met him, he had already graduated. Oh yeah, his room-mate in college was Chinese, so that pretty much put him on the fast track for leanring it. I think he went to college here in US then, I'm not usre as to the number of Chinese moving to germany for college, but a good deal do come here. There where 6 Chinese foriegn exchange students that came to my highschool when I was in 9th grade. So, I'm surious, what made you interested in latin? first, we had to choose french or latin. when you asked ppl about them, they said 'latin's like 50 rules, one exception, french is 1 rule, 50 exceptions' (i know now that's actually correct). latin just sounded more like what i wanted. second, english is derived from latin in many points. also it sounds very good if you know latin words for everything. i could exchange most words in this paragraph (except auxiliaries :P) with latin if i wanted to impress wth my phenomenal knowledge xD - Y0_ich_halt 14:28, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
