Thanks for the help on my talk page, it's very much appreciated : ) I won't pursue it now, but she already made a mistake, she'll do one again and then hopefully she'll be blocked for a longer time (and I ph34r the dog to the right o.O). Erasculio 23:24, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

User talk:Gaile Gray#Post-Searing in Pre-Searing

Anon editors have the exact same standing on the wiki as registered editors, even registered editors that have a "rep". Please don't imply otherwise. - Tanetris 22:29, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

I didn't. Reread what I said: "Not to sound insulting, but people tend to take other people more seriously when they aren't anons" I'm not saying that his contributions are any less important than any one else's, however, how seriously do you take the opinions of someone identified only by 4 numbers and a red link? -elviondale (tahlk) 23:27, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
While people do tend to take anons less seriously, I think it's better to try not to tend that way. -- ab.er.rant sig 04:13, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Weighing in here, because the topic was on my page, after all: Dismissing anon's isn't correct and is not allowed, it's true. Their contributions must and should be viewed on a par with those of signed comments. But having had a lot of experience with forum administration (10+ years; multiple public and private forums, some with 100,000+ members) and having been heavily involved with this wiki for a while now, I confess that I greatly appreciate signed comments. I feel that it's human nature to feel more comfortable and feel better able to adequately respond to someone who signs rather than one who does not. It's rather like having a phone conversation with someone who at least identifies him- or herself -- even if completely unknown -- as opposed to an anonymous caller. There's a respect there, a form of "honesty," if you will, given though sharing one's name. Even if it's just a handle. ;) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:05, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Gaile, I think you're tarring unsigned comments and unregistered (IP) users with the same brush. Some registered users still forget to sign, and similarly, most unregistered editors sign their comments. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ Talk 20:09, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
While I can't speak on her behalf, I think she realizes this. To me, anon (signed with IP) comments are on the same par as unsigned comments. I'll reiterate that yes, they are still important, but since there is no reputation on the line with each and every comment, I don't necessarily give them a second glance. Putting a personality to a signature also helps bring perspective to each comment- whether that person is notoriously sarcastic/serious/troll-acious and how much I repect them for past insights. -elviondale (tahlk) 23:47, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

This user's userboxes actually line up correctly in all browsers!

The don't line up for me. There's a big chunk which could fill 3 boxes missing and it goes off the page. Just thought I'd let you know :P — Eloc 13:06, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Re: Curiosity killed the Charr....

Well, just try to write Aquila Noctis IV like that, and you'll see... I didn't want a character like "Aquila Noctis Iv" or "Aquila Noctis I V" ´, so I left out the four and continued with five. But - for a short while there was a sort of Aquila Noctis IV named "Sara Aquila noctis", but when I realised, that Sarah is the name of my best friend's sister I got rid of her (the character, of course), and replaced her with Alexis. Aquila Noctis didn't fit behind that anymore, so I change the Surname as well. Enough info? --Aquila Noctis 09:10, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Reconfirmation

Hey Elviondale,

Our reconfirmation policy is a little confusing, but you actually can't vote (in any direction) until a reconfirmation actually begins. Right now, people are just requesting that a reconfirmation begin. You can choose to support that request, and thus trigger a reconfirmation RfA, by adding your name to the "requests for reconfirmation" block at the bottom.

Tanaric 03:41, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, i already left you a note on your talk page about it. It clicked when I saw that Xasxas had voted. -elviondale (tahlk) 03:44, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
I struck out your vote for now. — Eloc 04:01, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Feel free to re-vote on my newly-created reconfirmation RfA. —Tanaric 04:04, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm too lazy to retype it at this point. Anyone know where the old one went to? ^_^ -elviondale (tahlk) 13:11, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Heh, sorry. I moved the old RfA to Project:Requests for adminship/Tanaric/Archive1, because that appeared to be what we did for Auron's second RfA. I'm not sure if I need to do anything else with the page. —Tanaric 17:19, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Wiki Help?

Hello. I was wondering if you could assist me; I may be missing something on wiki. I'm trying build a 55 Monk, and to do so one of the skills I must aquire is Protective Spirit by using a Capture Signet on Yerk Plopsquirt. Wiki shows him spawning very close to Beetletun in Nebo Terrace, however, I've loaded the zone five times without him spawning. Each time I've confirmed that he's not present by completely clearing the zone, being sure to include the box canyon that is close to his spawning point. This is conjecture on my part, but perhaps this Boss was removed? In any case, I was wondering if there is a procedure to go through to mark on his page recent difficulties getting him to spawn, or do we just edit the page with a statement to reflect this?(minor proofreading edit by initial poster)CashmyrWindrunner 20:43, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Just so you know, the boss you mentioned shares his spawn with another boss, so ideally, he should spawn 50% of the time. I know from past experience, this isn't the case- as the results are random (methinks).
My suggestion would be to try it a few more times -or- do the quest Blood And Smoke if you can get to the Maguuma Jungle, purchase it from the skill trainer in Amnoon Oasis, or unlock it with one of your characters and use a tome to get it for your monk. -elviondale (tahlk) 21:03, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for answering so quickly! Less than half an hour. I'm a new user to Wiki, as I'm sure you could tell, but I hope to eventually be a helpful member of this community. The tome you speak of using can be aqcuired at merchants past a certain point in the game, I'd presume? CashmyrWindrunner 21:22, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Actually its a drop from monsters, usually in Hard Mode. Add me to your friends list (Elviondale Anwarnya) and I can help you when I get home from work. -elviondale (tahlk) 21:24, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Much obliged. I've not yet unlocked Hard Mode, but I've made it as far as Bloodstone Fen. I've been going back and exploring zones and finishing quests before moving too far forward in missions.CashmyrWindrunner 22:10, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Sorry I was unable to come last night. I had an unforseen interruption in internet service. Would you still be interested in aiding me in getting this skill?CashmyrWindrunner 13:54, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Sure thing. I'll be online on and off tonight -elviondale (tahlk) 21:23, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
