[edit] Render request
Hi Emily, could I request a render for the most popular NPC page on the site, currently being Nicholas the Traveler with nearly 1.4 million views to date :) he would certainly get a lot of attention! --Lemming

- Maybe a render of Professor Yakkington and Nicholas Sandford too?. Simzy

- Hiya guys! I am still having issues with Yak's model, so I'm unable to cap him right now. I will send an email over to the artists and see if we can figure out what's going on with him. I'll make a post it note to follow up on this :) --
Emily Diehl (talk) 18:40, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hiya again Lemming! Sorry for the delay on this one. I capped two shots of Nick (pre and post searing), but Yakk's model is still doing weird stuff. I'm going to archive this request and make a sticky to walk over and talk to them about seeing whether re-exporting his model will fix what I'm seeing. Hopefully that works :) --

[edit] GW:EN armor renders - full views
Heya, I'm just wondering, are the armor renders for front/back/sides for GW:EN armors in the pipeline anytime soon? Just that the ones for all the rest of the campaigns have been finished and GW:EN has been around a while now... Jennalee 10:48, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- I came here to ask the same thing. ^_^
Rose Of Kali 15:05, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, I thought I finished all of the armor. Oops...sorry! Yeah, I will try to block out a bit of time to get those done. I've been swamped lately, so I haven't had a chance to look at renders for a while :( Thanks for the heads up! --

[edit] Follow Up
Hey Emily, I just wanted to ask you if you ever got a chance to talk to the team(s) about the possibility of a page in the feedback space where ANet staff/team(s) could ask specific questions for which they wanted community feedback. I realize things got a little crazy right after I made the suggestion, so no worries if it fell through the cracks, but I just thought I would ask. (Satanael | talk) 21:22, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Heya Satanael! Yep, I brought this up a while back and folks agreed that it could be useful. Let me re-open the discussion to figure out details like how much use it would get and how it could be used. I'll let you know what I learn. --
Emily Diehl (talk) 23:59, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- Great, thanks Emily! In the mean time, I'll see if I can't start a little dicussion about how best to organize it. I don't think it will be very complicated to do, but I suppose it will also depend a little bit about how you guys want to handle it, so let me know how the discussion goes. (Satanael | talk) 04:23, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- If the team is concerned with having to slog through pages of responses, does the wiki system have a voting function like forums do so that there could be a general vote on topics, then a separate page for the discussion? Terryn Deathward 16:32, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Non-English Guild Wars 2 Wikis
Hi Emily. I sent you an e-mail one and a half month ago and would really like to see it answered. The German GuildWiki team needs a clear statement from ArenaNet, because we want one German Guild Wars 2 Wiki soon — neither two nor zero wikis in some months. --numma_cway 21:40, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, it would have been really great to get at least something as a response here :) --Tera 23:40, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- No more input needed here - we started our own wiki :) --Tera 23:59, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
[edit] French Wiki
Hello, Emily, I'm Boungawa, one of the administrators of the main French Wiki, I would have liked to know if, now that almost all articles exist on our wiki, it could become the French official Wiki with the IG links (F1) which clock on, for the France, this one. Thanks for your answer. - Boungawa 14:14, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hey, this is not an official answer, but I'll try to answer it to give you an idea about it.
- The primary reason why GWW was created from scratch was because the previous wiki, GuildWiki, had an incompatible license that would make it impossible to use the content in-game. To make that possible, ArenaNet had to start with a new license that would allow them to use the content in-game. The french GuildWiki, similar to the original english GuildWiki, uses CC-BY-NC-SA. While that makes both wikis compatible with each other (so that you could use content from GuildWiki and translate it for example), it is incompatible to this wiki's GFDL and as such incompatible with the in-game linking.
- Originally, the official Guild Wars Wiki was created with the option to have multiple different languages; those wikis in other languages actually even were accessible, however all were shut down after some months. As such it is unlikely that ArenaNet will open those official wikis in other languages again, especially as everybody would need to begin from scratch again (because of the license); and it would require a very long time to actually get to a level of information similar to GWW now, or to the "unofficial" wikis in other languages that already exist now. And with GW2 coming, people will probably lose interest in maintaining an official but very incomplete wiki when there are unofficial but complete wikis about the same old game already. poke | talk 10:52, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Guild hall image request
Hi Em! Is it possible to get a high res bird's eye view of the guild hall maps? I would like to do NPC placement images to identify where the henchmen and guild hall npc's are located now, but the only images I can find are so low res they just look bad. Thanks in advance! -- Wyn
talk 10:00, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
- i don't know if Linsey is still doing it but it might want to wait because of her project to make the npc placement in guild halls better. seen here as you i am sure already know.-
Zesbeer 10:38, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
- Pretty sure the current placement is where they're going to stay, otherwise why would they have put them there in the first place? That project was to fix the old static, all in a row placement, and make it more like it is now. -- FreedomBound
12:10, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
- my understanding of that project is that she was going to change the locations of the npcs like the merchant because in some of the halls they are really out of the way and not convent.-

[edit] Website
Hey there, the screenshots link under the "hot links" of the players page is broken. Also, on the fansite page, Crossing Tyria is dead and "Guild Wars @ GameAmp" seems now irrelevant. — PmaN 03:37, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- There's also a link in several locations here that no longer works. Note, this only occurs if you use the secure https, and not http (if you use http you get the "down for extended maintenance" page). -- FreedomBound

[edit] Shing Jea Sherman
Is "Shing Jea Sherman" (NPC inside and outside of Tarnished Haven a reference to "The Scribe" on the GuildWars.com website? "The Scribe is a weekly periodical that will share a few stories from within the game. Written by a traveling monastery scribe..." & "You'll probably see a few kudos to individual players, as well." He's both a traveling scribe from Shing Jea in Cantha and within the town he boasts about players achievements. Both support this theory. Magic
Talk 20:40, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hiya Magic! No, Shing Jea Sherman is actually a reference to the animated series The Critic. From the conversation I had with one of our writers, he was initially intended to be a sarcastic character, but we decided to give him a more positive spin instead :) --

[edit] GW2Wiki and moving images
Hi Emily, just a small reminder, as this is a small thing that is likely going to be forgotten on the huge sea of things you have to do: when you have time, could you ask someone to unlock the "move images" feature of GW2 to everyone (as it is in this wiki), as opposed to it being available only to sysops (as it's in the GW2W right now)? With all the cool pieces of GW2 art we have been given recently, being able to rename images there is important now. Thanks! Erasculio 23:02, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- Oh shucks...I totally missed this request with a flood of other things. I will put in the request tonight. I'm so sorry for the oversight! I'll let ya know when it's set to go (although you guys will probably see it in place right away anyways because you're ninjas like that ;)) --
Emily Diehl (talk) 02:52, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Shiro's Daggers lore
Hi, Emily! A question popped up on Linsey's Journal talk that's not likely to be answered there, so I figured I'd ask you instead. Can anyone confirm why Shiro's Daggers have a requirement of 13, making it possible only for primary assassins to wield them in full effect? (Candy Corn/etc. aside ^_^) Thanks.
Rose Of Kali 17:01, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- Isn't that rather obvious (short of the lore)? They wanted only primary sins to use them....I think that's it. Karate
Jesus 17:14, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- We already realize THAT. The question is why they wanted only primary sins using them...
Rose Of Kali 18:22, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- Because they're so POWERFUL.
elix Omni 18:29, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- Because Shiro is 'da man', and they're the largest daggers in the game. I really don't think it's very complicated. -- FreedomBound
18:34, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- That's the conclusion that I came to. Power is not an issue, this set can easily be replicated at a requirement of 9 instead. I quite like the idea of "legendary" lore weapons, maybe other classes should get some... In fact I'm off to go make my first ever suggestion page. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә

- Hiya Killer! I'm a little confused about your question. Are you asking whether you can add a link to the GW2 Ebonhawke page from the Ebon Hawk page? If so, I'm not sure that would be an applicable link, since the one is a location and the other is a skill. If there's confusion between the two, maybe you guys should set up a disambiguation page (for Ebonhawke) that asks whether you mean Ebon Hawk or Ebonhawke? If that's not what you meant, I'm sorry for misunderstanding. I hope this helps :) --

[edit] Nicholas Pre image
Hi, Emily. :) You had just uploaded a nice image of Nick - File:Nicholas Sandford (pre-Searing).jpg - but he's missing his favorite staff.
Rose Of Kali 14:54, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and the image name probably doesn't need the pre-searing tag, does it?
Rose Of Kali 14:55, 21 January 2010 (UTC)- She also uploaded a new version of File:Nicholas Sandford.jpg that does have his staff, I am the one that changed it on the page since I think the one without the staff is a better image of him. -- Wyn
talk 15:13, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Better or not (I think they're about the same), it's not accurate, as you will never see him like that in-game. And shouldn't the tag be (pre-Searing), or better none at all?
Rose Of Kali 15:48, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Nor will you ever see him floating on a white background without a yakk nearby. As for the staff, The problem with the model is that his hand is attached to high on the staff. If it was lower it would look better. -- Salome
15:51, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) Very few if any of the renders are "in game" accurate since they provide no context what so ever, and I don't see it as being necessary, I prefer the better image, you of course can change it if you feel so strongly about it, and yes, it should be (pre-Searing) or some other designator, since File:Nicholas Sandford.jpg is already taken. -- Wyn
talk 15:52, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- The name change is a simple click of a move tag, no need to bring it to Emily. -- Wyn
talk 15:54, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- As you can see from the first post, my question was about the missing staff, the file name was just a side note. But since it appears that in-game accuracy is not important, then scratch the topic.

(Reset indent) Hi guys! Our FTP is still active, and I'm able to access files hosted on it from here. Can you provide me with some examples of broken links so I can check out individual cases? It's possible it may be a different issue. Thanks :) --
Emily Diehl (talk) 00:07, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- First couldn't access the ftp server, got the "server not found" page when I used Dutch as language setting in Firefox, changed the language setting to English and now it works. Weird thing is when I changed it back to Dutch it still worked and i'm 100% sure that that was the only thing I changed.
- I still couldn't access the ftp with IE8. Saved the settings by changing my homepage in IE8 to and it worked.
- Numma cway try saving the settings and connect to the ftp when you have done that, you might have to disable and enable something to be able to save the settings. It worked for me, I have no idea why, it just did.
- I always try things like this incase an update for IE8 and/or Firefox "messed" things up, saving the settings just replaces the old settings with the new ones. Sometimes it's just a conflict with the old settings not beeing "compatible" with the newer version of the explorer.
- I hope this helped. --
