- Hiya guys...just got some answers back about this stuff. Nope, Charr is not a Starcraft reference in any way. Also, the Wizard's Tower is not linked to the Asura. I'm going to have to double check about Vehtendi for you. I don't know if you're referencing me for the deleting posts comment, but I didn't delete anything. I'm innocent on that one! :) --

- i know it wasnt you by looking at the history log. anywhoo i think i worded the question about the wizards tower wrong, i wanted more background on it, the part about the asura was purely speculative. thanks for the answers, thus far!75.165.117.200 07:02, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- The comment's been re-added. I'm guessing it was reverted because the timestamps were wrong, and that the comment was removed by accident. And I think that "for variety" is a legitimate reason, Guild Wars has had day, night and dawn / dusk zones since Prophecies, I wasn't trying to insult you, just suggesting that it may be a purely aesthetic choice. -- Gordon Ecker 07:47, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- thanks, but in prophecies its not so drastic...i am trying to think of zones like that in the other two chapters and am comeing up with a blank.75.165.117.200 08:57, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Missing High Res Armour renders.
Hi Emily, I know your busy but just a heads up that we're still missing the high res armour overview renders for a few sets. (You might have already have done them but if you have i can't locate them) It's just for uniformity sake it would be nice to have them. Like in some cases we have user images to fill those gaps however it just doesn't look the same as throughout most the pages theirs a nice theme of big spankey anet renders for the overview without a background and the charecter in a pose we dont have an emote for, an example of which can be seen here. Please find below a list of all the armours which are missing high res armour overview renders from yourself (It should be noted that some of these galleries do have user images on them but I think most people would prefer those replaced with the images that only you can provide us with):-
- All GW:EN Armour sets
- Male Monk Standard Luxon Armour
- Male Monk Istani Armour
I know it's ALOT of work, but if you get some spare time it would be REALLY appreciated! -- Salome

- i kind of feel like havening the high res renders makes n00bs and players who just haven't seen the armor before feel like they look better then they actually do. unless a screen shot takes a lesser quality image then what is seen in game. but i know that when i was looking at the Paragon Monument armor just the one image that they have up looks better in that then in the game, but also that armor along with a lot of the gwen armors have red bleading on them, when dyed any color other then red. that alone annoys the hell out of me but that is for mike to fix.75.165.117.200 06:53, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thats a different issue and honestly if the armours look much worse than the high res renders on your computer, then thats a graphics problem your end. Alot of high spec computers handle the computer graphics fine. For example all of my armours look more or less exactly like the high def renders. As for the red bleeding, I agree its VERY annoying, but this isnt an issue for Emily, thats one for Mike as you said. -- Salome
10:26, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads-up, Salome! I am going to try to set some render time aside some night at the end of the week/next week to bang out some of these missing sets. I always mean to get to them, but the process is pretty time consuming and I get interrupted when I try to do them (especially if it's during the day) :) Sorry for the delay, and I'll add these sets to my queue. --

- Hiya guys! I got back some information for you about these two pieces. The first shield was part of an old ATI promotion. If John's memory is correct, purchasing one of the ATI cards got you this "Ominous Aegis". He mentioned that they were really rare and that he doesn't really remember the details of it. The second shield is Hog's Gluttony. It was a Japanese pre-order item, and all of those names were named after the Japanese versions of the seven deadly sins. When I get a few moments, I'll try to grab some renders for you of the items. I'll also ask around to see if anyone remembers more details on the ATI shield :) --

[edit] Pet AI
Hello, this is Donny Rangers You, im not well known, i haven't been playing long. I am just keen to state my opinion on the Pet's AI, right now i find that the pet is lacking as the AI in my opinion is terrible. I also believe that the pet damage should be increased with the attribute of beast mastery as the attack speed is too slow. Thank you for hearing out my opinion, i hope something will be done on this :). --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:124.169.255.100 (talk).

[edit] The Spearmen
I've "pecked around" in your archives (using the Search Funtion ;) ) to find an answer to the trivia regarding Ruricu and other Spearmen. Is it true they are named after the officers of The Spearmen guild? Vipermagi 18:55, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ruricu the weapons crafter is indeed named after Ruricu, an officer in The Spearmen. I'm not sure what the "other Spearmen" are that you are talking about but odds are they were named after long time members/officers of the Spearmen as there are a number of NPCs named after them. 치 -

[edit] Just wondering...
if Elona was a little bit inspired by the Kingdom of Dorne from George R.R. Martins A Song of Ice and Fire series. There is a particular section in the third book that describes three distinct types of people living there, the first being "Salty" Dornishmen who are said to live on the coast; Istan is an island and has quite a bit of coast to it. The second type being "Sandy" Dornishmen who make their homes in the desert and river valleys; Kourna ,along with the rest of Elona, has a lot of desert to it not to mention the Elon River running through it. The third and final type are the "stony" Dornishmen who tend to stick the the mountain; Vabbi does have a river and desert but looks to be the most mountainous of the three provinces. Another similarity is that short throwing spears are one of the preferred weapons in Dorne. Lastly, the ruling house of Dorne has its seat in a stronghold called "Sunspear".
I know that some of this is a bit of a stretch and the Order of the Sunspears is completely autonomous from any government, but when I read that chapter it just sounded so familiar to Elona I had to ask if there is any correlation between the two. -- Broodling 02:35, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- You may not be as far off as you think :) There are a lot of us here that are huge Grr Martin fans, so there are definitely references to his work slipped into the game. I know that Sunspears are one of them. I'm not sure about your other parallels, but I'll check on Monday. --

Hi Emily, first of all sry if I'm addressing this to the wrong person. Second I have encountered a little problem while filling the EU sweepstake form. On the last question, the one that asks 'Which products would you like to see more of in the merchandising store?' I chose Statues/Figures. However when I clicked on the submit button, the form didn't accept it, reset the answer of that question, and told me to choose an answer. After trying for 7 times I gave up and chose Gadgets, where finally the form was submitted. I wanted to bring it to your attention. --Mage Montu

- Should we maybe ask Linsey Murdock for that? The textures seemingly exist, possibly it's only a bug that prevented the armorers from offering it since the release?
- Additionally, may i ask how you make the pictures of all these models? You seem to use a special program for that, as the mask is included in the armor image, yet not visible ingame. —Zerpha

Hello Emily, not 100% you're the right person to ask but..
Is the logo used on http://www.pvxwiki.com a modified version of an Arenanet image? If it was modified, would Anet still own the copyright? Thanks, --

- IANAL but in the way its use it clearly fall over fair use. Beside it probaly a derivated work base of the fansite kit that explicitly allow redistribution if some rules are followed. --Bob 19:28, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- This is more about if we are allowed to use that image here, as GWW doesn't allow images under Fair use, Bob. poke | talk 19:32, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

- Fair use is not somthing that need to be allowed by the copyright owner. --Bob 20:00, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- You misunderstand, we don't allow Fair use images to be used here. poke | talk 20:05, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) Actually, apparently someone else is claiming copyright on the image here while stating they made it by modifying ArenaNet material. -- Inspired to ____ 20:07, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- I say we wait until Emily replys to decide on whether to keep it or not --Shadowphoenix
