If items are marked with a Yes on this page, it means that I have passed the bug along to our QA team. Please keep in mind that I do not fix bugs, so I cannot give any time frame or specific information about fixes. If you have additional issues with a bug I've archived, please mention it on my talk page again.

Yes Ooze Pit problems

Today I entered the Ooze Pit and noticed that the collector marker for Thecos Bellyshaker doesn't show up on the 'u' map and the Ooze Pits dungeon doesn't receive a marker on the world map. I suppose both of these should be visible. -- Gem (gem / talk) 17:53, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

The marker appears on the world map once you obtain the related quest I think. At least it showed up on the map of Grothmar Wardowns --Thervold 17:57, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Ok, Ooze Pits shows up after getting Watch it Jiggle. -- Gem (gem / talk) 18:08, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes Norn Fighting Tournament bug

I'm not sure who to contact about this, but someone found a small bug in the tournament. If both you and the enemy are killed at the same time the enemy gets resurrected and you get the 'You are not worthy' message but you still get to the next round. Something should be done, but it's up to you guys to decide which one wins in this situation. :)

Oh, if possible, can you also give us a hint about the timer/damage counter thing that he is asking about. ;) -- Gem (gem / talk) 22:33, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Gem...I'll pass this along. I was not personally involved with the tournament, but I'll make sure the bug gets moved on to QA and the designers that worked on it. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 16:26, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes Red Armor

Any particular reason for the red coloring on the new armor uploads? -- Counciler 07:50, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

For the records, I like the new red coloring - it allows us to see very clearly which areas may be dyed, given how no armor has such vibrant red in its dyeless areas. What I really want to know, though, is what dye combination is that - it looks really pretty : D Erasculio 12:47, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
I think it's an eyesore. But it does help you see what the dyeable areas are. Sometimes, though, a bad dye job can dissuade someone from liking an armor. I used to hate female Asuran paragon armor because the picture on this site was dyed ugly black. When I saw it in gold, I fell in love. --128.195.73.172 18:31, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
The red is the default GW:EN armor dye color in my model viewer, so that is the color that I need to cap the shot in. I'm not certain if this is something that I can alter, but I am guessing no. I'll do some checking, and if I can I'll try to make the renders match the colors found other campaign's armor pieces for each profession. If I can't, we'll just have to live with the red for these renders. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 18:44, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
Thank you Emily for putting up official renders! Though I'm grateful to all those who have contributed by adding their own armor pics to the site, I'm happy we now have higher quality armor renders available for a couple of the sets. A side question though, why was there a change of default color w/ GW:EN armors from their original default color? On some sets you can really notice the red on the armor especially while zooming out, not sure if this was an intentional bug or not. Xitoahc 21:15, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
You're welcome! I wish I had more time to get more up. With GW2 rolling along, I'm finding my time really strained. I'm not sure what caused the default to switch to red, although I am guessing that it has something to do with our new dye system. If there are any armors that are incorrectly displaying colors in-game, feel free to screencap the issue and point it out to me so I can pass it along as a bug. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 21:50, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Male Monument Elementalist Armor. I dyed my Black + Silver. Took 5 Screen shots just to be sure. I'm also unsure if the hand armor is darker or the rest of the armor should be dyed the same. Renin 13:58, 7 October 2007 (UTC) 001 here 002 here 003 here 004 here 005 here

Great! Thanks a bunch for these. I will submit some art bugs so the team can look at them. I don't know what the resolution would be or any details about that, but I can still pass them along. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 02:33, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks a bunch! I really like that armor that's the only reason why I want it to change. Anyway I'm just hoping that the dev team resolves this issue soon but I know you all are swamped. Just that I don't want it left lingering up until GW2 comes. So any update between here and uuuum GW2 would be greatly appreciated by any or all Male Eles wearing the same armor. hahahaha [User:Renin|Renin]] 03:43, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes Fur-Lined mask

I think he means the mask. -- Counciler 20:17, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes, this mask was an item that somehow never made it into the game. I mentioned it to several team members, so it should hopefully appear in-game in a subsequent update. I don't have any time frame for this, however. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 02:23, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, the Gladiator's Helm was also shown in the "art of guild wars"-book (page 12) of the "Special Edition", and now its finally available ingame. :D New Prophecies Headgears ftw :> —ZerphatalkThe Improver 12:59, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes Ritualist Male Norn Armor Bug

See for yourself: http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f185/Counciler132/wirearmor.jpg

This is not just on my end, many others in my guild reported seeing the same thing on this guy. -- Counciler 00:27, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Counciler. I submitted this over to the artists for them to check out. Let me know if any other sets seem to do this. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 01:39, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes there is another as well. Its an Elementalist, female set. Another Eye of the North set. I cannot seem to make out which one it is, but I can give you the link to the images:

Thats all that I know of. -- Counciler 06:42, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Not sure it is really an armor-related bug. On guildwiki they have a picture of the same bug with Ediehl Shockhunter's texture. Chriskang 09:19, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Some people have reported it happening with only Post Processing effects enabled. Haven't had the time to test that theory. -- Counciler 18:21, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
The boss's texture issue should have been fixed in the last major update. The artists are aware of what is causing the other issues, so I'm imagining that a fix is in the works, but I don't really know anything beyond that. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 18:30, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes Bug with a lot of enemies dying at the same time?

Emily, there appears to be a somewhat complex bug in the game. For a couple months now, some players have been saying that if you kill a group of enemies with some sort of Area of Effect damage (so all die at the same time), the enemies drop less items than if you kill a group of enemies with skills that kill them one by one. Many didn't believe that (I didn't, for example), but slowly players tested it. These tests were done killing the same enemies, with the same party sizes (comparing killing all enemies at the same time in a full party versus killing all enemies one by one in a full party, and comparing killing all enemies at the same time when soloing versus killing all enemies one by one when soloing), repeatedly...And right now the impression given by the collected data from some users (one of them made a nice table here, but even then that's only the data from a single player) is that yes, killing all enemies at the same time do give less drops.

Players made all kinds of theories about that. Some say it could be thanks to the same mechanism that prevents all drops to go to the same player, when a lot of enemies are killed by a full party; some say it does not exist at all, and that the testers were just unlucky. Would it be possible for you to ask around (I have no idea who would know about this kind of thing) and see if there really is something like this in the game? It would really help us : ) Erasculio 23:41, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

It's been discussed in Gaile's Chat/Talk unfortunately when she moved it, we never saw her pay attention to that. We're never given an explanation or an excuse as to why it does. In NM or HM, as an Ele I found that using Sliver Armor generates more loot (white, blues, purples, golds etc) than using AoE based attacks. Would really just to have a heads up on this issue or even some love-attention. Renin 00:28, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Truth be said, I think the discussion on Gaile's page was about loot scalling. The bug I'm talking about has nothing to do with loot scalling - it happens no matter the size of the party. Erasculio 01:29, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
This sounds pretty interesting. If i happen to get time on weekend i would like to make a more professional-like test. One thing, where are they testing this? nm/hm? does the full party attacks or just 1? how far is the rest of the party? melee attackers or range or casters? how precise "at the same time" is it? well not precisely one thing. xD Coran Ironclaw 03:08, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Same time = exactly the same time due to a single skill. -- Gem (gem / talk) 07:48, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
I don't personally know all of the details behind how loot scaling works, but I'll bring this point up as a discussion point. Thanks guys! --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 22:13, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, Emily : ) For the records, this problem does not appear to have anything to do with loot scalling - the size of the party (if one player, four players or a full party) doesn't make a difference. Erasculio 01:02, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Darn

I thought I knew what the issue was.., Frosty had sent in the frame issue after we showed it to him before we GvGed today. So, it looks like I was wrong. However, wireframes are still an issue, no? :P UserDrago-sig.gif Drago 04:08, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

I believe so. I know that no fixes were pushed through to live. The art team is aware of the problem, so I'd imagine that we'll be pushing a fix for the issue in a subsequent build. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 04:09, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Let us know which art bugs are going to be fixed :) I want to know if my armor will be spiffy since I really love that armor Renin 14:19, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes Hero panel closing

I reported this problem earlier on Liseys talk page, but as far as I know it wasn't possible to pintpoint the reason due to not much info given on the problem. The problem is that one of the hero panels keeps closing when I change zones. This problem appears randomly and is very irritating. I've now written down some notes when this happens. What I've noticed:

  • If I have 3 heroes it's always panel #2
  • If I have 2 heroes it's always panel #1
  • It's always the panel of Master of Whispers

The problem can be either a) with MoW b) with the second last hero slot c) with MoW when in the second last hero slot d) something else. :P I can't be sure since I most of the time have MoW in that spot. The problem stays with me until I kick MoW from the party and take him again. (in a different slot, not sure what happens if I retake him to the same hero slot) -- Gem (gem / talk) 10:37, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Interesting, I have the reverse problem - the damn things keep opening when I rezone, even though I want them shut. Yesterday in Frostmaw's I was running with Margrid the Sly, Acolyte Sousuke and Olias (in that order). Sousuke had a new build so I was monitoring his performance with the other two panels shut, but every time we went through a gate his panel would shut and the other two would open. --NieA7 10:48, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
I notice that my hero panels will reverse. I'll usually have my monk(s) panels open to monitor energy/usage and often when I zone, the other hero panels are open instead, and my monk's panel is closed. For me, it doesn't just happen with my Dunkoro (who i use the most) but with just about any open hero pane will cause them to reverse which are open and closed. Yukiko User Yukiko Sig.png 11:19, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Hi guys. I passed this along to QA for them to check out. Thanks for pointing it out...I haven't had the issue happen to me personally, but I know that that would be really annoying. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 21:44, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. :) It's probably the single most irritating bug for me in the whole game. -- Gem (gem / talk) 22:01, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
This happens to me a lot also. I had always the idea of this being because those hero panels have a very long "save", so if you zone fast it doesn't matter if you open or close panels its revert to the last saved status. But i have not really tested that hypothesys. Coran Ironclaw 22:35, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Can't be a sort of 'long save' thing as I've done whole misions and still had this problem after the mission if I had it before the mission. -- Gem (gem / talk) 07:21, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

User Kalomeli sig.png Game updates User Kalomeli sig.png -- Gem (gem / talk) 22:52, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for being so clear with your reproduction steps, guys. I pretty much just copied the descriptions into my bug report, which made it simple for QA to track down a repro to pass along to the programmers. It turns out that it was a simple fix for a bug that just wasn't realized because it was so obscure. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 22:55, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
As only one of millions of buyers, actually helping fix a bug in a game as big as Guild Wars feel pretty good ^.^ Thanks Emily! --NieA7 09:56, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes Dervish Norn Armor Dye Anomaly?

When I dye an armour, or preview, normally if I place two dyes of the same type in th preview screen, with no other dyes added, the colour will not change. This is not the case with the Dervish Norn Armor. If I put two red Dye in the preview screen, one makes it red, the second one makes it a darker, richer shade of red, however I am unable to dye it that colour, and I am unable to recreate that shade of red using any other dye combinations. This appears to be the case with every dye, I only had one blue so I couldn't test it but it was the same with every other colour.Dancing Gnome 12:58, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

I have seen this with alot of the armor sets I own, it's nothing unique to Dervish Norn armor. - anja talk 14:58, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
I've had this too. It doesn't matter really since you can't add multiple dyes of one color without other dye colors. -- Gem (gem / talk) 16:57, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure what this could be related to, but I'll mention this observation to the artists. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 22:11, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
I think stacking two of the same dye gives you a diluted effect, even though you can't apply it. Dervish Norn Armor is dark by "default", I think, so it comes out darker; I've had other armor sets show up pale and faded when I put two of the same dye in the window. Two dyes plus one of another color works differently of course, with the doubled color being more prominent, which I can only assume is the correct way for it to show... --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 22:19, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes Talk:Dishonorable#Like, wtf

I suggest you read this please as I think the Dishonorable system is hugely flawed.--§ Eloc § 21:29, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you want me to look at, as this comment just seems to be a swear word filled rant about you getting a dishonorable penalty with no other context behind it. I'm not really involved in the development of this system, but I know that Gaile's been gathering feedback for those that are on threads like this. If you have some constructive feedback about the system, I'd recommend gathering it up and posting it there. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 21:43, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Eloc I think you need a small reminder that Emily and Gaile are not your personal support team, questions like this should be sent to the support email address in the first instance. You are welcome to discuss such issues on the appropriate pages, but yelling for a fix at members of the dev team when something bad happens is not very good form. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 21:45, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Not really yelling for a fix, but I more think it's a bug that you get Dishonorable points for not doing anything wrong and I've seen people post their bugs here before.--§ Eloc § 21:58, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
There is no context in that screenshot, so it's possible that you could have been reported by teammates, which is how you'd get the dishonorable. As far as I remember, you get the status either from leaving a match early or by having at least 2/3 of your team report you. I know you need to match at least one of the dishonorable criteria to receive the buff, as the team tested the system extensively to ensure that players would not get the penalty for no reason. If you feel something is truly a bug (and not something that you just don't like), be sure to take detailed screenshots and describe what happened to support and they can pass it along to the team for evaluation. Yes, staff that post on the wiki will pass bug reports along too, but keep in mind that we can't pass something along that has no information beyond "I got this status wtf". If you'd like a good example of a bug report that I can easily pass along, see some of the armor issues above and look at Gem's post about the hero windows. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 22:10, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Also, was it really necessary to put this on multiple pages? Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 22:54, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Put it on 2 pages only. Also, it's gotta be a bug because I didn't do anything wrong & still got 15mins of dishonorable.--§ Eloc § 23:28, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Did you read Emily's response? Also, realize that there's no set definition of "doing something wrong" that the system uses, it's just whether someone reports you or not. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 23:36, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
But 15mins worth of it which isn't even supposed to be possible unless EVERYONE reported me for leeching which is impossible as only 7 could have and 2 were leechers so I should have only gotta 5 at max if I was leaching, which I wasn't.--§ Eloc § 23:41, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
To be fair, you do not know for a fact that they did not all report you. Anyhow this discussion does not belong on this page, perhaps it should be moved to the dishonrable talk page. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 00:19, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

The first option for /report is Botting. Dancing Gnome 16:55, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure Eloc would know how to report. His team most probably didn't notice that, that person is actually a bot. Remember the /report rules, if no one reports except for you, you get the penalty or something like that. That's why he mentioned it here and I suggested a vid-capture of it to give him more of a viable proof Renin 17:01, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
I am not sure why you posted it here, this is not at all part of Emily's job, this should really be on Gaile's page if you want a reply on it. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 19:54, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Bot reports don't punish you if less than 1/3 of your party doesn't report. To my knowledge this punishment is ONLY for leeching reports, I think "spamming" is also different from this again, not having any effect unless 1/3 of your party reports them, but it punished neither person if a report less than 1/3 of the team is made. My understanding is that if you report a bot, the team is notified that person x is a suspected botter and they investigate it further, but no "dishonour" is applied (botting is more serious and leads to bans should it be confirmed). While botting itself is a general theme I think this topic is fairly specific to the report system and Andrew Patrick is the person you perhaps want to bring this attention to. I would move it myself but I don't think that's my place so I guess we will wait, but Andrew deals with the PvP issues and specifically the /report command so I say talk to him. Dancing Gnome 05:03, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
I don't really want to take this to Gaile as I believe she has little-no power ingame as she is Community Relations. Emily was just the first person who works ingame on GuildWars, that's all.--§ Eloc § 04:16, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
I can mention this to the team tomorrow morning, but I wanted to say that your statement about Gaile is really inaccurate, Eloc. While I am able to pass on information to the QA team like any other dev, Gaile is also able to do the same (and does quite often...more than I do since she sees bug reports all day on the forums). In general, I don't mind mentioning bugs and other things when they are pointed out on my talk page, but please don't feel like you shouldn't post on Gaile's page because you think I can do more for you because I assure you that that isn't true at all. If anything, it's likely that Gaile will see things on her page long before I do because I am often away from my desk and not on the wiki during the prime hours of the day. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 03:39, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
