On Mursaat

There are so many questions remaining from Prophecies, and the good fan base has eeked out some pretty good hypotheses for many questions. However, I fear that the Mursaat will never re-appear. In my mind, the more I see the complete picture the more I believe that the Mursaat were the most interesting of non-player races. They were advanced (coming from different worlds like the Seers). They were powerful ("not imbued? oh you die then.")

They also probably have the highest potential for backstory. Did they know they were stopping Abaddon in a way? Did they have any connection with Glint? Were they really a good, albeit pragmatic race, that just was in the wrong place at the wrong time? Are they really all dead (at least from the current GW world)?

So my question is will we hear more about this enigmatic, yet significant race in GW:EN or beyond? Or were they basically a plot device, and done is done? --Ravious 12:48, 2 April 2007 (EDT)

I did not realize this was such a heavy topic on the Lore forums at GWO. I am glad that others are interested/concerned with the Mursaat's "current" state of things, and I also agree that giving Asurans too much credit in Tyrian development or whatever might cause a disconnect. Oh well...hope we get thrown a bone in GW:EN. Thanks for reading this anyway. --Ravious 12:04, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
I think these are very interesting comments. If we have a page on the Mursaat, I would encourage you to place this as a point of conversation on the Discussion page, because I'm sure there are others who feel as you do, or may have other insights to share. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 16:27, 4 April 2007 (EDT)

The new skill updates

From what i can tell this may be one of the greatest skill updates yet. It balances avatars, it increses the assasins ability to spread conditions(yay for the sharpen daggers thing) rangers will be even more usefull to use in the trapper UW and FOW runs. The monks 2 huge builds are being killed by the moving of the glyph of lesser energy. Only one thing you should add to that.... NERF BURST OF AGGRESSION ARGGGGG. These sins are THE BEST spikers in the entire game. unless you know what your doing, or have a very fast working monk with condition removal. Also the change to mesmers will hugely help me in my treks across the salt flats and other storm kin affected regions of the desert(dam that clumsiness). i think it would be fair to move BOA as a core skill maybe even out the sin playing feild? these are some sugesstions to this great update. tell the development team there doing great and to make GW:EN and GW2 the best they can.... maybe make the infinite level things just for show and each level after say 20 only give skill points, that would be awsome. Also add more elites to the desert bosses?66.225.141.109

Why!!! *crys* why would you attack lesser energy? being a pve monk that has to be the saddest thing i've heard since the great mm nerf of 2k6...oh well I hope my little thought can help keep it in the free range )': for me pleaaase.*thinks* Anet should think about employing some players from GW to talk about skills and what should be changed not to be offencive but having some people who logged 2,000+ and dont get paid to know about the game might have a good effect on what could be improved and disimproved. Zerosmileyguy 15:54, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Gailes talk page is not a good place for complaints and ideas. He has nothing to do with skill balancing. I would suggest using the talk page for the Gaile News where the balances were explained. -- Gem (gem / talk) 15:58, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
Okay i will i thought he was lik cheif in development so i was bassicly given him kudos(although are you sure he isent she? what ever. Thank you for the knowaladge thoug.142.161.88.161 16:15, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Also, Izzy is the one in charge of skill balances =P User:Isaiah Cartwright - of course, any skill balance suggestion should not appear in the wiki at all - the fansite forums are much better for that =P MisterPepe talk 16:53, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
Sould'nt a page be added for this in the wiki? since must people are knowing only this site and so that gaile's talk page will no be spammed anymore. --Ttibot 17:02, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
Too true! The best place to discuss these -- and we will see your thoughts! -- is in the fan forums.

1175 AE

so according to the timeline, GW2 will be set in 1175 AE, and will be set in tyria which is awesome. (Sneaky Take a Bow 03:46, 6 April 2007 (EDT))

What's your source on GW2 being set in 1175? --77.98.24.142 08:52, 6 April 2007 (EDT)
Per the timeline (based on the Mouvelian Calendar - which is the ones used in the kingdoms of Tyria), the first three campaigns take place in 1072 (Prophecies and Factions) and 1075 (Nightfall); and the magazine articles on Guild Wars 2 says that it will take place about 100 years after the events of the original series ... so, 1175 is likely close if not correct. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 10:44, 6 April 2007 (EDT)
Remember that Eye of the North takes place sometime after Nightfall and also, iirc, the PCG article says GW2 takes place hundreds of years after the original. --Santax 10:48, 6 April 2007 (EDT)
If it's hundreds rather than hundred, then our Guild Wars 2 article is wrong. Based on what the article states and what is known thus far, 1175 seems a reasonable estimate - it may not be exact, but should be close. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 10:55, 6 April 2007 (EDT)

Eye of the North Collectors

Hi Gaile! I'm sure if I asked you to reveal anything about the collector's edition of camp 4 then I'd be welcomed with the reply of "sorry can't tell" lol! But is there anything at all you can slip to us, Gaile, about the collector's edition (assuming that there is one) :D ? Thinking about it, I'm still keeping my eyes out for the Prophecies CE, as sadly I missed the pre-order date and started playing GW very soon after, still no luck (grr) ! --Zoidberg 11:20, 6 April 2007 (EDT)

All I can say in response to this question is that I did ask if we were considering the notion of a Collector's Edition for Guild Wars: Eye of the North and the answer was "Yes, we are considering it." Don't worry, I have relayed players' thoughts on the matter, for sure. I think it's a good idea, and I'll be a sound advocate for the whole concept of a CE. :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 17:57, 10 April 2007 (EDT)
Brilliant, cheers Gaile :) --Zoidberg 03:55, 11 April 2007 (EDT)

GW:EN Release Date

i've been searching through the website and have conficting reports on when GW:EN will be released, some say Summer '07 [[1]]and some say Oct-Dec '07 [[2]], care to clarify? thank you (Sneaky Take a Bow 22:06, 6 April 2007 (EDT))

No official date has been released so Gaile can't tell you. (Gaile, I think you need some sort of notice box to prevent all the stuff that gets posted on your talk page) -- Gem (gem / talk) 22:15, 6 April 2007 (EDT)
I knew it ^^ --Jamie (Talk Page) 04:53, 7 April 2007 (EDT)
You may have noticed elsewhere on the GWW -- we've updated or better defined the release window for Guild Wars: Eye of the North to be "Third Quarter 2007." Now, folks ask what "third quarter" may be, and generally that means the months of July, August, and September of a year. Just thought you'd want to know. :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 21:40, 17 April 2007 (EDT)

While i was visiting my local EB Games, I was looking through the Upcoming Releases book and saw that GW:EN was listed for a release on August 27, 2007. Has the date of release been finalized or is there still a few wrinkles left to iron out about the date? B.N 05:08, 28 April 2007 (EDT)

If you didn't hear it from anet it isn't true. -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 05:12, 28 April 2007 (EDT)
From what I've seen, a lot of times retailers and such will put a release date on an item even when nothing has been released. For instance, Best Buy's web site had a release date for Metroid Prime 3, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Super Mario Galaxy for release in March for awhile, then changed it to Dec 31, 2007 sometime in February. Like Firefox said, if you didn't get the information from the company producing the game, it probably isn't true Avatarian86 18:38, 28 April 2007 (EDT)

LOL Am I the only person who caught that? GW:EN/Gwen/cute little girl in ascalon? 72.79.96.30 18:51, 11 May 2007 (EDT)

As a matter of fact, you are NOT the first person to catch it. Its been posted many times on the forums and mentioned on several discussion pages on this wiki. ;) --User Rohar icon.jpg Rohar (talk|contribs) 18:53, 11 May 2007 (EDT)

Hard mode effects on other titles?

Will the other campaign-specific titles be given a way to get to high levels? You mentioned making the Holy Lightbringer level of lightbringer within reach of the players, but as it is Legendary Defender of Ascalon and the Savior of <faction> titles actually take longer then Holy Lightbringer. The absolute fastest you can get faction for the Savior title is about 200 faction per minute doing endless faction farming runs, at say 6 hours a day straight it would take 10 months of endless farming, or about 1650 hours. Legendary Defender of Ascalon I'm not sure on the time but AFAIK it's in the thousands, though much of it is AFK. For comparison if you get a good group together spamming Lightbringer's Gaze the Holy Lightbringer level is maxable in around 500 hours. If it is the belief that 500 hours is considered "essentially unreachable" and needs to be made easier, then what about LDOA and Savior? Implementing a Hard Mode area for Pre-Searing would make the LDOA much quicker, with say lvl 15-20s. Not to mention that the title would actually be a reward for defending Ascalon and not dieing a billion times to birds lol. For Savior you could just increase the rewarded faction a bit, which would seem appropriate since there are far harder enemies to get through.

When I share with players in the game, I'm usually providing all the information that I have on hand. That was the case today, in chatting about the titles. As you could tell, I did not have a great deal of info to share, and for that I apologize. A lot of us on the dev team read fan forums and discussion pages on the wiki involving areas in which we might be able to make a further contribution of information. With that in mind, I invite you to post your thoughts on a fan forum or on a page here on the wiki relating to the titles in question. If there is no page for this particular topic, perhaps you could start one -- we welcome all contributions to the wiki! But you see, this is my personal user page, and as such, isn't really the place for extensive questions or suggestions about the game. Thank you for understanding. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 22:10, 14 April 2007 (EDT)

Soul Reaping rebalancing

Since you said the developers are looking for a 'better way to accomplish the same energy-related "reality check"' I gave it some thought. Very tough problem. Most of my thinking is rather convoluted on the issue. But I do have one very simple suggestion that, on the face of it, looks pretty clean: a creature killed by the necromancer him/herself directly should soul reap completely without regard to the 5 second limitation (i.e. the necro themself directly taking action with a skill/attack/lifesteal that kills the creature). This means that the necromancer could, for example, reliably use (and build with) an expensive energy killing skill, like vampiric touch. Obviously it also rewards the necromancer for being on top of their game, watching vulturously for nearly dead enemies and polishing them off--this seems both thematically and pragmatically appropriate to me. Thanks for great game -- Crystalion. (p.s. my best guess is that you could also allow soul reaping sans 5sec cap whenever what just died had a necromancer class hex or enchantment active on them)

This would make a great addition or start to a discussion page about Soul Reaping. It's not really a good fit for my personal user page. Thanks for understanding. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:08, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

This was my first post (indeed I failed to properly sign it--just learning) so I'm a bit at a loss how to proceed. I've read the "how to help" page, but without a "list of wanted pages" link or other guidance I'm clueless where to move this to. My apologies; feel free to remove it from your user talk as I was mistakenly targetting your personal page from your looking "for a better way" comment. Crystalion 20:22, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

Hey, I'm very new to wikiland, myself! I think I have a good idea, since we can work on this together. Head to the page here: Talk:Soul_Reaping. You'll see others have made articles, so just copy the comment that you made here into that discussion page at the bottom, as the newest comment, and then sign it. You can give it a heading, like you did here. Once you've done that, I will delete it from this page, since it has been moved. And that saves a "This article was moved" flag on this page which... well... I still have to look up to remember how I do those. :) Does that sound like a plan? (And welcome to the GWW!) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:30, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

Done. Thanks. :) Crystalion 20:42, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

Perfecto! I'll move this to the archives shortly. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:43, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

Anti Farm

Even though you state you are not Anti-Farm, I can cleanly remember an npc claiming he earns his gold by completing missions and quests, not by defeating monsters. I cannot remember which NPC I heard this from, something in the Deslotation or Vabbi. Was this NPC created before or after you claimed not to be Anti-Farming? Solus File:SolusSig.jpg 08:39, 20 April 2007 (EDT)

What does the words of one NPC in the game tell about what ANet employees think? Not much imho. -- Gem (gem / talk) 09:40, 20 April 2007 (EDT)

... Anets got balance issues again?

i am at school so i cant use a fourm to post ideas so i'll do it here. For Mesmers to balance them out for pve even with out new skills. there is a very un used side of mesmers... there degen. if you were to maybe decrease casting time or increase duration or decrease recharge. any of these would make degen mesmers a better choise in pve basicly anything that allows them to spread around the degen a bit more. Degen spikes are good, but not in PvE for example Phantom pain is a good skill(the deep wound at the end) but it is still a difficult skill to want to use because of the low degen rate, and high recharge. It can easily be countered with say a healing breze at healing prayer like 2 heres a Mesmer necro build i used for a while Phantom Pain|Fragility|Congure Phantasm|Rotting Flesh|Congure nightmare|Acumalated Pain|Resurection Signet I hope this build helps. this is a degen hex spike, used in boss runs and to kill monks but in large groups i dont do much.66.225.141.109 10:50, 20 April 2007 (EDT) I have all the "Gwen" items except the tattered girls cape i was wonderin if u could help me locate one. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Zail .

PvE Skills

Hey Gaile! I know the PvE skills that afaik are linked to the Sunspear Title are still being tested, but I was wondering you could give a little teaser. Maybe just say what they are called or explain one of them. Maybe even make it a GWW exclusive! Thanks for consideration. :) --Ravious 16:06, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

A GWW exclusive on one or two skills might be pretty fun and non-harming, even if the skill gets changed during testing. -- Gem (gem / talk) 18:27, 24 April 2007 (EDT)
Oooh, I do love this idea, guys! Let me check with my ... er... "sources" and find out if this would be ok to do! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:03, 25 April 2007 (EDT)
As you may have read in an in-game visit log or forum post, we do plan a skill update within the next few weeks, and the Sunspear PvE-only skills will be included in that update. More than those PvE-only skills will be in that package, though, and I hope we can post a detailed list, as we did in the Early-April update. I will send an email to see if we can forecast the skill changes by a bit, to allow the community to read about what we have planned. It may not be possible, given the busy schedules of everyone involved, but we can see about it. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 23:37, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
I wanted to give an update on this: The designers are going to help put together some data for a Dev Update that will include a bit of information on the new skills that are being added to the game. I don't have a timeline, but I'm pinging them daily, and I am hopeful that, since the update is planned for "mid-June," the notes in advance of the update will be coming quite soon. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 18:12, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
That would be pretty sweet. It would be also cool to see how they came up with them. Like a little dev commentary on creation rather than just usage. Anyway thanks a bunch! I know a lot of people are very excited and interested. --Ravious 20:26, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
I nagg... *ahem* I approached the designers and asked in a patient, professional, and supportive way if we could have a design update for the upcoming build, and they promised that they would work on one. In fact I do believe that it may have been started this evening. I hope to be able to post it here on Monday or Tuesday! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 07:00, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

GW:EN and 100% Tyria

Hi there gaile, i was just reading on some stuff about GW:EN and how it describes an expansion of Tyria i was hoping you would know would the 100% tyira title be reset? Or will it be played on a differnt map in Tyria if you understand that lol :D, Cheers DazUltra 18:04, 26 April 2007 (EDT)DazUltra

As I understand it there will be the underground of Tyria, the far north shiverpeaks and the coast as teh main areas. I don't see a problem with having htat count separately. Afterall, Elona isn't too far from the crystal desert. I would think it would add another title track to it for those that purchased the expansion because it takes place in new areas, not the same ones. --File:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 07:39, 27 April 2007 (EDT)
