Colours, Codes, Names

Hey Gaile, I used the colours of your pawn-notice for my bow & ANet userboxes, I hope you like them even though they are quite predictable ;) Also, I replaced the three <br>'s you used in the coding for a {{clear}}. I was wondering, would you like people to sign their userboxes, so you can more easily see who made them? -Why 14:40, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

First, I think signing the user box contributions is a good idea. I know a lot of you, and like getting to know new folks, so it's nice to see who did what. (Aside from reading the History page, which is sorta dull. :) )

Second, thanks for fixing my code. I was going to go back and do that (after I figured out how later that night) but I really like how folks offer help to do tidy-ups and I'm glad you took care of it, because I forgot.

As far as colours, I'm sort of into the whole lavender thing pretty heavily. I think most have figured that out by now. ;) I just bought a set of baby gifts for a friend, and of the five things I bought -- three outfits, a set of bibs, and a blanket -- well, five have lavender in them. Thank goodness the little tyke is a girl. :D

That is positively not to say that all my user boxes must use lavender, lilac, purple, etc. Whatever looks good works for me! -- Gaile 06:57, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Uniform Size?

Do we have a uniform size request/practice/policy on the GWW? I was thinking that all the boxes that appeared here would be the same dimensions, so I was surprised to see variances in that. I'm wondering what to do about using boxes of different sizes. Might it start looking a bit scattered with different sizes, or is that the way to go? (I think I honestly am leaning towards a "set size" so that they align prettily both horizontally and vertically, but I wonder if that's just a little to organized. -- Gaile 07:00, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, the {{Userbox}} template allways results in a box with a width of 238px. The height of the box has a minimum of, if I'm correct, 45px, but is expanded if there is more content in the box. Indeed, with all different sizes, userboxes tend to scatter themselves around a page, leaving large gaps between eachother on the vertical side. What you could do though, if boxes vary as much in height as they do, is to put all of them in three or four vertical tables. This way, the boxes will still fit nicely together without changing their size. For an example, once again see User:Why Are We Fighting/Sandbox. ;) -Why 11:58, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Lots of Boxes

Size

It can be quite hard to keep them the same size though. I think placing them in tables or organising them as Eloc did is easier. -Why 13:00, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
