User:Vega Underdark

This guy just keeps ignoring us, ive warned him twice, the first time he Blanks out the page and ingores me then i warn him a second time and he doesnt respond at all.Ive informed Karlos about this ~ KurdKurdsig.png09:44, 2 May 2007 (EDT)

FWIW, I've translated your piece of text to Dutch, if this user doesn't understand English. He implies that he does by using a userbox stating that he can communicate on an advanced level of English, but you never know. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 10:00, 2 May 2007 (EDT)

candidates for deletion

All those armor images I just tagged for deletion were images Emily uploaded some time ago with the wrong naming convention, she has since uploaded with the correct name. If you want to save yourself checking each and every one hehe --Lemming64 08:40, 6 May 2007 (EDT)

Thanks. :) With such cases where a bunch of images are clearly marked for deletion for the same reason I only check a couple of them and then mass delete everything. -- Gem (gem / talk) 08:42, 6 May 2007 (EDT)

Copyvio

the quest A Second Profession falls under a copyright violation and I went and added the quest to the temp talk page like the warning says and I was wondering if that was right and that somebody would see it and move it to the right spot or should I just go and move it myself? --Sktbrd341 22:24, 19 May 2007 (EDT)

AFAIK it was agreed a little while back that replacing the copyvio content with non-copyvio material was sufficient in cases such as this. User Fox.jpg Fox (talk|contribs) 05:43, 20 May 2007 (EDT)
Yep, GWW:COPYRIGHT says that you should just overwrite it, and the copyright revision can be deleted at the original author's request. - BeX 05:56, 20 May 2007 (EDT)
Maybe we should change the copyvio notice then? So it just says "rewrite" not "write a new version at Talk:XX/Temp". - anja talk (contribs) 07:08, 20 May 2007 (EDT)
Close, but not quite, guys. Articles where the first revision is a copyright violation will still need to be deleted, since there is no clean revision to go back to. It's only for articles that have previous safe non-copyvio revisions that simply reverting the copyvio is OK. Relevant part in GWW:COPYRIGHT:
"If you come across an article which is entirely a strongly suspected copyright violation and there are no legitimate versions in the article history, blank it and tag it with the copyvio template."
So the {{copyvio}} tag still makes sense and should exist in its current form, even though it now needs to be used only with copyvios at the time the article is created. --Dirigible 07:25, 20 May 2007 (EDT)

'''IF YOU CAN CAN YOU GET ME ACCONT PASS FOR ME BECAUSE I CANT REMMBER SO PLEASE GET IT BACK'''

If I remember correctly, you can have the password sent to you're email. -- File:Blackgeneralstar.png (General | Talk) 21:14, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
If you haven't set an e-mail adress for your avvount you can't get the password anymore. No one has access to the passwords. -- Gem (gem / talk) 21:52, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

It hast been...

Image deletion

Hey Gem, is there any chance you could slow down on image deletion? Other deletion is fine as we can restore it easily, but deleting images when the user who uploaded it has only been given 15 mins notice is a bit fast :P LordBiro 18:10, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Ok, np. Remember that people will most likely have the images still on their desktop/other place and most of them are just cropped screenshots of the character in the login screen or other similiar easy-to-duplicate images which shouldn't pose a problem for the user to recreate. -- Gem (gem / talk) 18:46, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that's true, but I just want to err on the safe side :) LordBiro 19:12, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
I know. I wanted to keep the list of violations down and with the recent influx of new people it is pretty important to make the policies visible to avoid long term problems. But yeah, I'll slow down now to give people more time to react. -- Gem (gem / talk) 19:24, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Can you...

.. block User:Cookieman please. Vandalism of guild pages. Ale_Jrb (talk) 22:27, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Userpage

Hi gem. While i was looking through some other userpages i found this one and it kind of messed my wiki up. dunno why and not gonna change stuff unasked so i think its best if i just gave his userpage to you. greets Chasing flames 04:26, 28 May 2007 (UTC) http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User:AmericanVlad

Formatting Policy

Hi, Gem. The new wiki is shaping up nicely, congrats and thanks for all the work you're doing.
I have a question on formatting policy. I visited a guild page and noted that the author was pressed by wiki editors to change his colors. He complied and copied his original work to his user page. I did not view the formatting policy as a set of inflexible rules - the policy page says that "these guides are meant to be a help, and shall be seen as a recommendation rather than strict law restricting creativity." I therefore ask whether the user should have been required to change his page. Here is the discussion: Guild_talk:Noob_University. Thanks in advance for your clarification.—Lupo(talk) 12:54, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Deletion

I see the following in the deletion log:
19:36, 30 May 2007 Gem (Talk | contribs) deleted "Image:Kehanni Nuti.jpg" (replaced)

  1. The image wasn't replaced - that was the replacement for the previous image.
  2. The delete tag, placed there by User:Kurd in order to put the image which he claims to own back in the article, specifically states that the deletion can be discussed on the files talk page; did you check that? because there was no support for deletion. Isn't really much poinyt having a discussion page if you just amble along and delete with no reference or input to the discussion, is there? Just one more reason why you should never have been given sysop buttons. User Fox.jpg Fox (talk|contribs) 08:36, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
See User talk:Emily Diehl#Kehanni Nut?. The NPC name is Kehanni Nutu, so the image I deleted was incorrectly named. Also, the tag had the description "replaced" and the talk page didn't have a reason not to delete the image. If you don't like the quality of the correctly named image, please replace it with a new version.
What comes to your direct personal attack, "Just one more reason why you should never have been given sysop buttons.", I would like to you give more information. Why do you think that I am a poor sysop? As far as I know, I've only been useful to the wiki with no harmful contributions. Hundreds or thousands of legit deletions even within a week, a few vandal blocks now and then, reverting of vandalism with the rollback option, etc. No complaints from anyone on my talk page. If you have a problem with me being a sysop, please tell what the problem is, don't attack me without explanation. -- Gem (gem / talk) 13:45, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
