Archiving

General rule for archiving comments is wait one week after the last comment. Archiving active discussions is really counterproductive. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 03:56, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Noted. As I identified in my comment for archive, which was my first, all discussions happend before or on 22.08 were archived. There was no open discussions at this point of time and all issues were resolved. Were necessary new entries were created on the discussion page of originator and all answers recieved on these pages. So, from my prospective they all were closed conversations. All conversations were archived intact and link to the archive provided. --HH LEADER 23:31, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
People need a while so they can read those discussions, so archiving them straightaway (even if ended) means they have to look through the archive. Also, people generally expect that discussions stay on one talk page -- if User A asks something on User B's talk page, the discussion should continue on User B's talk page (unless asked otherwise). People make use of their watchlists to keep an eye on pages, so it's not necessary to move things to other talk pages. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 23:42, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Is this a general suggestion for me going forward or a there is a particular conversation you would like to continue on my talk page?
Just a general suggestion. :D--Wyn's Talk page Wyn 23:56, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Certainly, but I probably will archive once a month or so depending on volume. I kind of feel sorry for what I did to your talk page with my "Question" topic. Long conversations are not easy to read.--User HH LEADER Aries symbol.svg.png HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 13:20, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
I was archiving once a month until I became a sysop, now I do it twice a month, so don't worry about it at all :D --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 16:54, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Sig

You shouldn't be using more than one image in your signature; Guild Wars Wiki:Sign your comments has more information. Also, wouldn't your titles image be better suited to your user page rather than your talk? It's taking up quite a lot of room here. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 16:52, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Complied --HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 17:12, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 17:15, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Userpage

Ok.. I know we are obnoxious aren't we? But your userpage is almost twice as big as the User page policy allows. Most of this is from the very large images you have used. I might suggest you split your character specific information to subpages, or reduce the size of your images. Again, this isn't personal, just trying to help you learn.--Wyn's Talk page Wyn 17:15, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

I should be in compliance now. Tell me if anything else needs correction. --HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 18:00, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, it looks fine now :D --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 19:02, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Guild page translations

Thanks for helping with the guild page translations. Rather than putting the information on the talk page however, please just add it to the main page. Thanks!--Wyn's Talk page Wyn 19:00, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

I was unsure of that, because it is their creation, not mine. The Guild may want to provide their own more accurate from their point of view translation or even present it completely different in English. It seems that page has been created not so long ago if I am not mistaken, so they still may have a chance to do it themselves. I would also be worrying about placing English translation in front of actual French text because it may be a sensitive issue for them. Thanks. --HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 19:10, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes, as I thought: Sparkster is actively working on the page and removed English text from the Guild page. Maybe it is best to contact Sparkster directly and let him know what is required of him. Thanks.--HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 19:59, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Wyn, if you watching this page: I have been thinking that some people may simply do not know English enough not only to make a translation, but actually understand it even if it is provided to them, not to mention reading the polices. To help in resolving this issue they need first to be communicated in their native language. What I can do is to talk to few people in my guild that are really fluent in few languages (not like me) and much better communicators than myself to see if they want to join wiki and help with communications to the Guilds that have hard times understanding English written polices. To one of them I could talk early next week if you think this is a good idea.--HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 13:20, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Update: Translation for Russian guilds is completed.--HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 22:29, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Hello

Hello. Misery 16:59, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Hello, why do you think I am deleted? I am clearly not. Misery 17:17, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
I can support that.. I tried it, but it didn't work xD poke | talk 17:45, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Hello yourself! First TerraXin edits my User page where he should not. Now the user without User page that has been deleted few times and calls me retard contacts me on my talk page. Very entertaining! It is most interesting that Poke who last deleted this user User's page leaves a last comment on the GW2 suggestions' discussion page and seem to be watching my talk page where this user with the deleted page was calling me retard! Very, very interesting! And why would want a Misery say Hello to me right now I wonder? The preceding unsigned comment was added by HH LEADER (talk • contribs) at 18:09, 16 March 2009 (UTC).
As I am a very active user, I watch the recent changes on this wiki, and that is how I got here. And actually Misery's page was created multiple times by other users and it was deleted simply because it was vandalism and Misery doesn't want a user page. It is not a requirement to have a user page and such a page is not related to the existance of the user account. poke | talk 18:15, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
I am not implying that user Poke has a second account under Misery name or a dual personality. What was strange that the user who is using an inappropriate language in discussion with me on the discussion page would leave simple 'Hello' message for me here like if s/he looking for attention or playing a game or something. The rest must be a coincidence. HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 18:48, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
I assume the "hello" is portraying "I'm a real user. Here's a comment on your talk page to prove it." I don't think there's an ulterior motive. And I don't think anyone inferred you were saying Poke was socking. Although your comment about not implying that now makes me think that you actually might have been... Never mind. --User Brains12 circle sig.png Brains12 \ talk 18:52, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Errr....what? I think misery was trying to prove the point that he has not been deleted. As for poke he's just a very active sysop. Anything beyond that isn't even coincidence, it's just hysteria. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 18:54, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
How come you gents are so protective about the Misery who didn't use the proper language like you were? Wasn't it a user policy violation what he said? Are you seconding his opinion that people who put their but may be not perfect suggestins are all retards? Well, he has the talk page on which he can be supported. And one of the archives of it has a discussion about fun of socking. Can't you take a look at what you are collectively doing: driving me from this Wiki for a second time? HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 19:21, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Please reread my post very carefully, I never called you a retard, that was never my intention. I apologise if that is how I came across. I suggested that this change would be beneficial for people with lesser mental capacity and poor suggestions, it will have little effect on good, well thought out suggestions, although there may be a positive swing as stupid people will not be able to edit the body of the suggestion. I don't see how that could be negative in any way shape or form. People will be able to control their own suggestions without interference from outsiders. Misery 21:05, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
That's it, I guess. Problem solved. But not by this change. Way ago. Wyn says hundreds of suggestion pages have been already deleted. No doubt that they all were made by 'people with lesser mental capacity'. They were deemed worthless or 'poor' by someone using the same idea that you now pushing.
When you say that this 'change would be beneficial for people with lesser mental capacity' and then say that 'all win' I am not sure who exactly you are mocking. Everybody? By giving yourself a right to talk like this you attribute yourself as a person with higher mental capacity to potentially everyone else. OK. I've read you message correct. HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 22:29, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
I do consider that to be accurate. Most people make absolutely terrible suggestions with no thought for reality, economics or whether the suggestion would benefit anyone other than themselves. That is why I prefer people to keep such suggestions in their user space where I have no collective responsibility for them, then I don't have to check them, improve or correct them. They are happy that I am not involved and I am happy that I am not involved. How is that not win-win? Retards win, arrogant bastards win. Misery 22:39, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
You seem to have one more win: continue to call others retards. How about some profanity next time you visit my talk page? I am really looking forward to it. Wiki really would be a dull place without you Misery! Much Love. HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 01:52, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
I'm unlikely to rise to such an obvious bait. Have a wonderful day. Misery 07:16, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
That's too bad you are walking away on me. I really wanted to hear some profanity now. It relaxes me. To be honest, I just have lost my job at big A.. company where I slaved for last 11 years and helped to make millions to those arrogant bastards. For the last half year I was workinfg on the Enterprise Confluence based Wiki documenting architecture of applications I have created that continue helping making millions annually. After ~2000 pages have been created that described them to the level undersood by the retards, they fired me for retards cost less by the dozen. And here I am, looking for a job and sitting on this Wiki, and wanting to forget about my misery.
You are the only man who is not afriad to call crap for it is. May be we can meet at some chat room or something to free ourselves of anger and frustration, use more strong language that this stupid Wiki allows? How about that? But I understand if you would not want to or afraid of a bait or something, and simply ccontinue ridicule me. But whatever you do or not do, please do not shrink me after I opened to you like that for I must have deserved my misery. HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 17:08, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Sucks to be you right now I guess. I'm pretty happy today. Misery 17:16, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Happy for you. Be well. HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 17:28, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Regarding your suggestion

If you would like your original suggestion to be undeleted, and moved to your userspace, that can be done. You could then present your idea however you wish, and it would be linked on the list of suggestions. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 18:13, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

It was the other person's suggestion that was deleted. His wording was merged with mine. I can recover my original suggestion from its history, but not his. As I understand now nothing prevents me from creating the summary the way I have proposed it in my own user space calling it a 'project' of my own. I could do it for all of the suggestions that out there no matter where they are located and link to them. However, for those that were deleted it is not possible. So, if as part of the moving effort you can undelete first all of the deleted suggestions, I would appreciate it. This would make your moving plan complete for this would technically allow people to claim them if they wished, for one can't claim merged and deleted suggestions. Thanks. HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 18:34, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
I don't think they'd undelete anything unless it's specifically asked for. Mostly b/c many suggestions are hit-and-run, and so it wouldn't be claimed by anyone anyway. --JonTheMon 18:39, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
I realized that after I posted, but the idea remains the same, if you wish your suggestion to be reverted back to your original, simply move it to your userspace, and undo the changes that were made thus giving you control of how your idea is presented. Your idea of doing this to all of the suggestions in archive however is really beyond the scope, since they were posted in an area that was clearly identified as being community property, to be edited by the community to present the clearest and best ideas to ArenaNet. Not every suggestion would benefit from being reverted to it's original form. Moving them to Xeeron's namespace is simply archiving them in an as-is state to prevent their deletion. There would be no further editing of them, which is the purpose of an archive.
As for the hundreds of suggestion pages that were deleted, everyone had the 3 days from the time they were tagged for deletion to object to the deletion of them, and in some cases much more. None of them will be undeleted as Jon said without the specific request from the original poster. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 18:46, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Hello again, whoever you are and thank you for you tip. I enjoyed it. You've led me to obtaining wonderfull quote from your contributions [1] QUOTE :
"You should do that, it's called being disruptive to make a point and it's highly effective. Use socks if you are worried someone will ban you. Misery 00:11, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
wow, that's a pretty high level of sarcasm. --Cursed Angel 00:18, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
It really wasn't sarcasm at all =/ Misery 00:20, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Being disruptive to make a point is the only way to get anything done on this miserable site. --75.71.67.5 00:24, 24 February 2009 (UTC)"
IP traces to Denver, Illinois via Aurora.
Anyway, there is a joy of profanity and smart man talk on this and other special contribution pages attached to the other IPs on similar discussion pages.
Thank you for showing the way! I know now where to find not so boring stuff! HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 22:46, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
HH, you might want to stop trolling now. --User Brains12 circle sig.png Brains12 \ talk 23:36, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Excuse me. How am I trolling on my own talk page answering on someone's 'Hello'? Clearly second 'Hello' was a bait. An IP that left this 'Hello' was trolling me to take a bait and I did. It just wasn't the expected outcome. I enjoyed the bait by going to this IP contributions and finding all Wiki veterans, guys and gals enjoying themrselves with less restrictive talk rules while discussing skill change and the methods of being effective in this Wiki by using identity trolling. Forgive me for leaving a note on my talk page about my discovery and provoking your answer and by thus disrupting your attentition from more important matters! Dual standards and hypocrisy shines! Hm... here is an idea: maybe I should stop being me, a disruptive pain in a back, get socks too and become welcomed addition to skills discussion forums!!!
HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 12:41, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Or maybe you could stop playing the martyr card and flying off on tangents? The IP said hello and that was it, yes it probably wasn't for friendly reasons but really you should have just ignored it. Instead you went off on a wee ramble about it. Further to that we don't even know if its a dynamic IP address and thus the past contributions could be anyone's. As for misery's comments, although ill-advised in their sock comments, they were still completly unrelated to this issue and thus moot. I hasten to point out that although I do like Misery, this isn't me, or any of the admins, playing favorites as you keep implying. To be honest Mis and I disagree on quite a few things, however in this instance Mis hasn't trolled you. You took something they said out of context and since then have been playing the wounded party. We have tried to explain to you what your error is, but you either simply don't understand or you don't wish too. You're comments however are now becoming disruptive as you keep trying to draw people into arguements with you and thus that's how you are trolling, which I am sure you are well aware of. Therefore my advice to you is to either start discussing this matter, you feel so strongly about, in a none-trolling manner or if you can't do that, just to drop the subject. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 12:58, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Not at all. I refered as trolling the second 'Hello', not a first one from Misery.
On a second 'Hello': I did not want any argument or an opinion from anyone else but from IP that posted 'Hello'. Should the IP responded I will be sure that it is the same person. Why? Because even IPs are mostly dynamic, they normally assotiated with the same physical cards by the DNS server and taken from the IP cache of DNS machine(s) to save on processing time and becase IP adress is a limited resource. To clear that assotiation one of two things needs to happen: computer forces DNS server to assign new IP by issuing specific command or DNS server clears cache itself. Even if chaged it will be in very close range and from the same provider. In this particular case the user recieves services from comcast.net, which knows what user is assotiated with particular dynamic address at particular time. But since this IP did not come forward to explain the reason for the post, currently I tend to believe that it was someone's 'sock', how you call it, and certian that it is from someone who participated in a recent discussion I have already dropped. That's trolling in all its possible meanings.
I do not feel strongly about anything and not easily annoyed. I dropped from discussions because you all explained your positions clearly and there was nothing else to say. I would have archived my talk page but now have to wait for this discussion to stop. I however, like observing and draw my own conclusions. I do believe that every society or a comunity is hypocritical and this one is no exception. The methods that Misery discussed on that page were used by himself against me. That's OK.
What was more depressing that none of you stopped Cursed Angel from cursing on that page. I do not blame him. Not at all. He probably just someone who is looking at you veterans with his 'wow' expesion on his face and who was encouraged talk profanity by the others' behavior. That's OK. There is nothing that can chage the fact that within selected community certain thnigs can be tolerated that won't be for 'outsiders'.
And for the last time I am not trolling, not wikilawyering, not complaining, just observing. Continue as you were. Stop responding to my posts on my talk page. All conversations are now closed and will be archived when no posting for a week.
But I am challenging this IP who posted second 'Hello' if s/he dares to come forward and say: "Yes, I am someone's sock" or "No, I am not and will register an account". That's all.
