Your characters??

What are the characters you play with Izzy? Your fav's? Only PvP Characters? --Silverleaf User Silverleaf sig.pngDon't assume, ask! 18:13, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

I have 13 character on my main account 3 PvE characters that I've done everything with, Warrior(Rose Blueflower), Ranger(Rose Blackflower) and Ele(Rose Purpleflower). Then I have 10 PvP Characters one for each class. I Honestly don't remeber all their names normally having to do something with Izzy and Rose depending if I like the female or Male version of the character.

Then on my other accounts I have Isaiah Cartwright, Admin Isaiah, Admin Izzy, And a million other names, I have too many character I lose track of them all honestly 8 accounts with 12 characters each on live, + 4 accounts on dev with 12+ characters there, and 4 accounts on stage with 12+ characters they all are just Rose/Izzy + some garble of flower and letters. Derv Request.

If you can find the time, is it possible to make the dervish profession usefull in Elite (Team) area's like the Deep, HA & Vlox Excavations? these area's are hard to acces with a Dervish. Team's are disregarding Dervish easier than other professions. --Silverleaf User Silverleaf sig.pngDon't assume, ask! 11:03, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Fellow GWWikian, please bring (or read) the discussion that is taking place on this request >>here<< --Silverleaf User Silverleaf sig.pngDon't assume, ask! 13:38, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah we plan on doing another Elite pass at some point and Dervish needs some more love for sure. Izzy @-'---- 01:42, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Suggestions per month

Assuming we do establish some sort of poll or committee, how many suggestions do you think you would be able to handle per month? 10? 20? More? Less? I want to establish some sort of ballpark figure so I know what we're dealing with better if and when we form a committee or set up a poll. calor (talk) 01:46, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Also, when during the month would it be most convenient to release the lists? -- Gordon Ecker 03:45, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Well I sorta expected to do them per week, and not per month, but we could talk through both options. Probably 10 per week would be my starting number. Izzy @-'---- 20:15, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

First of all, let me take a step back to thank you for well, doing a much better job in handling skill balance. (Sorry for sounding a bit critical, but the truth is that you my friend are selling us a product). With that said...What do you plan on doing about lets say...spam suggestions, ignorant GuildWars Players, and bad ideas. Will there be any way to "bump" a good idea higher on the list by say...a vote system? I do hope so. DarkTiaga

That subject is currently being discussed at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Community portal#Skill Feedback. -- Gordon Ecker 02:28, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Yeah sorry I totally got busy and dropped out of that conversation GW2 has been pickin up lately and I just haven't been checking back here, BAD IZZY BAD!!!! I'll stop slackin and check back more :)

One of the reasons I wanted to do something like this is to force me to check back every week to keep in touch it's so easy for me to get caught up in something and get distracted I'm always doing a million things at once : )

Where did it end up after I dropped out of the conversation? Izzy @-'---- 01:44, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Hello Izzy! I'm a player with a particular interest in this topic, and I'm trying to advocate a site called the Guild Wars Feedback Community as the solution to all your feedback/suggestion woes. Based on several of your posts on the discussion page, it sounds like it's exactly what you're after. I realize you're very busy, but if you could take a look at the site and skim through what has been discussed with the other GWW members, it would really appreciate your input. Thank you! --Brokunn 23:26, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Hey Izzy, I assume you don't mind us archiving old and answered topics from your talk page; if I'm incorrect in saying that, just say. "WTS Champ points #2"

Just updating the question, do you know if there's any approximation when something might be done for this Izzy or if asking from wrong person who should I ask? At the moment I can only see MaeH and other guilds' which they use wins/losses moving so it looks like nothing's done yet and it's over week since you replied on the question that you're aware of it... 91.152.189.58 12:54, 2 October 2008 (UTC)'

Not 100% sure, I ping some people about it though, we are aware of it and are looking into it. Izzy @-'---- 18:13, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Skill Descriptions

Hello again Izzy. There's some skill descriptions in the game that for the "untrained" eye one can misinterpreted it's functions. For example the skill Awe. The Concise Description clearly states what it does while it's other description states:"Skill. If this Skill hits a knocked-down foe,...". I don't know how to ask an exact question to this without leaving any doubts... What's your opinion about the skills descriptions that are like this one?--ShadowFog 15:48, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

English is evil, tricky, and burns us... Sounds like a bug in the text I would go post it up in the bug section and they will get the text fixed up. Izzy @-'---- 18:14, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Where would one post skill description issues? Could the wiki community help ArenaNet with the creation of consistent skill descriptions (such that if 2 skills have the same effect, that that effect is described the same way? ex. knock-down is written in several different forms). 87.210.150.58 18:38, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Don't forget to balance Costume Brawl!

I posted a thread on Guild Wars Guru here saying that since skills have changed since last October some of the builds have become much more overpowered or underpowered. Just to name a few,

-Rangers and Necromancers received all buffs,
-Dervishes have 0 Wind Prayers, which is a big hit to Chilling Victory,
-Assassins have an aftercast on AoD and a nerf to Horns of the Ox,
-SoJ has been put to half-range.

I want to make sure that Costume Brawl doesn't go live this year without being touched, and the professions become misrepresented in the arena. If something is planned to be changed or this is now something you'd consider looking at, I'd like to know that the arena won't just be a total imbalance in a month. Shayne Hawke 01:37, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Had totally forgotten about Costume Brawl! Yes, the skill bars should probably be re-worked a bit to be as fair as possible. AoD aftercast isn't too bad (people complained about it being overpowered last year anyway), but the rest should be looked at. --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 04:48, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, for example, dervishes should not be allowed to have scythes. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 06:21, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Costume Brawl actually uses different skills than the PvE/PvP mode ones. This is apparent when it first launched the Priest of Balthazar was bugged and let you buy the copies in the Costume Brawl. These copies of the skills would be "frozen in time" in essence, exactly like they were last year. DarkNecrid 07:55, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

No balance discussions here. If you've posted a thread on Guru, there's no need to post a message here saying you've posted a message there. It may also help if you read the above notice. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 15:57, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

skill balance?

Hiya Izzy, would you happen to know when the next big / major skills / elite skills update will be happening? And if you do, would you also happen to know if the developer updates will post those major updates like a day prior to release? 125.60.243.54 07:34, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Looking at the last few months, the big skill balances have always come out on the Thursday around the 5th to the 12th of each month so wait until October the 9th and you may be in luck.- TheRave User TheRave sig.jpg (talk) 09:46, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
I know that, but what I want to know if he personally knows when the really big skill updates comes. Cuz what I was thinking was that they were planned months ahead before they actually release it. 125.60.243.54 09:52, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing it. There's nothing wrong in waiting a few days to upload a fix along with the rest of a (planned) update. I hope that everyone who has been complaining loudly (and offensively) will post their apologies here too. If they're man enough to say you do something wrong, then they should also be man enough to say you did something right. 145.94.74.23 11:36, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, Izzy and the whole development team, for buckling down and putting in the effort to correct a silly mistake. I apologise for doubting you would do the right thing and repair the sloppy implementation of Amulet of Protection instead of something half-assed and sloppy like removing Cyclone Axe off the Guild Lord. Mr J 11:47, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Thank you, Izzy and the rest of the balance team, for fixing this issue. I'm glad such a pressing issue was fixed in a timely manner before it was abused by top-level players, and I apologize for thinking this would affect the guild ladder. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png{{Bacon}} 14:03, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Ah, removing Cyclonic Axe was a bit of a kludge, but it did it's job and all in all it's better to have a quick fix than a better one which comes late in situations like this, since by then it would have been abused to hell (not that it hasn't been abused, but it would have been even worse).

Well it was a good start Lilondra User Lilondra Eviscerate.jpg|*Tourny* 16:59, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Cleanup

Since Nuklear has been let loose, a large number of pointless suggestion pages (and maybe one or two with points...) have been got rid of, but there are still a lot of "messy" pages, with or without "Clean up" tags on them. I just wanted to know what the protocol was for these (i.e. are we allowed to change other people's posts if we leave all the content and make only minor changes to the formatting?).

Yes. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 09:57, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Maybe it's a bug (I think it is supposed to).
Thanks a ton! It has been fixed.--ShadowFog 01:26, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Kudos

Izzy, I'd just like to congratulate you on the last update. Sure, some things I don't agree with ("FGJ!" might have needed a tweak but shouldn't have been killed like that, and I'm a bit said about IA even if it did need it) but most things were IMO dead on. Just feel I should give you some positive feedback :-).

P.S. @ Brains: Don't move this just because it mentions the update or whatever. We're allowed to praise Izzy on his own talk page. :-).

Out of curiosity

What are your balance issue priorities? The small nerf to IA was a good start, but then to follow it up with a double nerf to backbreaker? The "Assassin" build you mention suffers the same down sides as any other melee class and is hardly considered a balance issue(Being that It was the only assassin build that wasn't simply just 1 2 3 4 5 6) Even if it was powerful, what made you put that over say blood spike? or kappa spike? or fixing the life stealing damage system? Hell wounding strike has been screaming for a nerf since you buffed it, That was an even greater balance issue than Incendiary arrows for god sake. Honestly, It seems like you base what you fix based off what you fight in RA. --99.153.226.11 18:00, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Hero battles love?

Izzy, your work user page says: Hero battles love, where you describe that youre working on some hero battles fixes and tweaks. You said that about month ago. Can we know, when can we expect those updates? And what will they contain? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:83.23.148.51 (talk).

Well, it could very easily be argued that the Backbreaker change was in favour of Hero Battles, since that's where it'd probably had the most affect. That said, Izzy has hinted at bigger things (BB was just one problem of many, really) which I would also like to know more about, if possible.82.3.255.222 18:21, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure if I'm ever going to get around to this :( GW2 has been eating all of my time lately but well see. Izzy @-'---- 01:46, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Would it be at all possible to remove The Crossing from the map rotation altogether until it is fixed? The map is still as broken as it ever was and serves no purpose except for frustrating teams. I see no point in even having the map if its not going to be on tournament rotations, it should just be removed. Questions about skill mechanics

Hello, I have two questions about how skills work in GW:

  1. Would it be possible to have a skill scaling under one attribute, but also having a "50% failure with x of 4 or less" clause linked to other attribute? For example, having Flare going from 20 to 65 damage based on Fire Magic, but with a "50% failure with Energy Storage of 8 or less" clause?
  2. Would it be possible to have the energy cost of a skill to be based on its attribute? For example, to have Flare costing normally 25 energy, but costing only 10 energy if the caster has Fire Magic of 9 or higher?

Thank you if you eventually manage to find time to answer those questions : ) Erasculio 20:26, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

  1. No the way those skills work is just a flag that says it fails based on the attribute any "dual" attrib skills need to be coded into the skill so you would have to say it does 0 damage with 4 or less or something like that. Izzy @-'---- 01:50, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
  2. It would be possible but really messy and clunky, and they would scream at me a lot so you would have it give back +15 energy or something like that, also it could never update the UI or anything like that so messing with costs is really hard. But Glyph of Lesser Energy reduces costs so I'm sure we could do. Izzy @-'---- 01:50, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

How do we know you are telling the truth

From here and I quote: "We can't scale KD durations they all have to be hardcoded. Izzy @-'---- 18:35, 27 March 2008 (UTC)"

Please explain what you did to Backbreaker sir Izzy. 90.212.161.78 06:33, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

He also said ranged 3 second kds were too powerful, and needed to nerf them. Yet WoD he says is a 4 second ranged kd, and is just fine. Go figure. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:138.87.164.42 (talk).

It's not. It doesn't snare, and you could theoretically remove it before it ends. It may be equally powerful, but it is not a 4 second ranged knock-down. 145.94.74.23 08:48, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Simply someone kind of heart

I have been looking around recently and just about every time I see the term "izzy" it is in one of three contexts; a signature, a demand, or an angered statement either insulting or degrading you. I just want to say that I have looked onto the abyss that is the internet and seen what you have to suffer through. Therefore, Isaiah, I just wanted to say that even with all that you have to had put up with, i realize that you are trying to do what many would consider an insurmountable task, also please extend this message to all other personnel who work on the issues that you address. Thank you. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Weaponmaster (talk).

Agree and sign to support this statement. --Silverleaf User Silverleaf sig.pngDon't assume, ask! 09:56, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
I agree with this as well, but I am not sure I am allowed to post this. I'll take my chances though. 145.94.74.23 12:24, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
Too bad it's also because of the fact that balancing has gone awry during current skill-balance-team. 91.154.9.27 06:14, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
The thing is, you can never please anyone. Even if you're doing a brilliant overall job, there will still be plenty of people angry at you. So I too would like to take the opportunity to say that you're doing fine, at least recently (OK, there are lots of things I would still like to see improved and could have a go at, but it looks like you're on what's imo the right track at least and anyway that's not the point of this post).
So is this the place where we come to kiss Izzy's backside? (I'm prolly banned now...) 217.234.241.212 00:20, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I'm not banned after all... The previous post from me was still uncalled for, and shouldn't have been posted. I was just feeling particularly frustrated and failed to show restraint. My sincere apologies to everyone. I mean that. Having said that, I must also say that most of the opinions I see posted on this website do not really reflect the general opinions I hear ingame. I think that a few individuals, who spend more time here than ingame, have entirely too much to say. They argue for things that most players don't want, and generally win those arguments solely because of their continuous presence here. Any who would deem to argue with them can't be bothered to spend half an eternity on this website, and so eventually lose those arguments by default. When not busy pushing their own agenda, they're here paying general lip service to Anet. The whole Anet portal in particular, and the wiki in general, has devolved into a bizarre form of corporate politics. It is not representative of the general ingame population. I wish I had an easy solution to offer at this point, but I don't. Flame away if you want now, I'm going back now to that "other" wiki, which has avoided the politics and remained objective. 217.234.241.212 13:31, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh yeah, some of use definately spend waaaaay to much time here (probably me included). However, I don't think everyone is "pushing their own agenda" (some people maybe), as you put it, but people will inevitably be biased to whatever they prefer. Also, the more recent balance changes do seem to have been better than earlier ones, so I don't think it's wrong to give some positive feedback, even if there are still a lot of unsatisfactory things.
I spend too much time on both. Anyway, I'll admit I am biased to favor casters over physicals. As far as balance goes, I'd rather have 1 decent fix than none at all. And there are some suggestions that I defenitely DON'T agree with. I still fail to understand the usefulness of Deep Wound for example in anything other than a spike. 145.94.74.23 22:09, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, the 20% less healing is pretty powerful if it doesn't get removed. Generally, though, it's use *is* only in a spike - however, when you do perform a spike, Deep Wound is very powerful. I suppose you could say that since it's sorta useful some of the time and very powerful a bit of the time, it's overall power is still fairly high.
Let's stop with the balance discussion. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 20:52, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
