[edit] Character bios

I really like your character bios, especially the pictures. How do you do the bordering around the pictures?--§ Eloc § 01:58, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Done in Photoshop; I make the Wiki layout first, then I just copy the colors and add it in from there. Photoshop supports hex codes, so matching the color exactly is easy. I just use multiple layers to get the border just right; Layer one is the background, Layer two would be the character, and Layer three is the border. (There's generally a few more layers of shadows and effects, but that depends on the picture.)

I generally do the shape of the border using the select tool, but you can do that freehand or whatever, no particular method to that. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:06, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Ah, Painter? I've got a (crappy) version of the program, it's a lot of fun. Came with my WACOM tablet. Horay freeware. I'm more suited to Photoshop, though... Talking about this one, right? That's good old Photoshop right there (Photoshop Elements, as a matter of fact). The dirty, "grunge" look for the background (the black and green) was done with a special Grunge Brush set I downloaded right off of deviantART as well, it's a lot of fun to play with. Yeh, I was just updating the notes to mention that you can salvage mods off... then I noticed "hey, that's different then the others, I'll fix it!". Halfway through that, I found another thing that was different from the rest, and so on. I think they're all about set to the S&F now though, I copied off of a few of the Tormented weapon pages for the tricky parts.

I actually only just saw that build today. :P Just finished leaving a lengthy comment on it as well. • "Verflucht noch mal!" (German)
• "Shimatta!" (Japanese)
• "¡demonio!" (Spanish)

Yeh, "Verdamnit!" is in my dictionary too, but the other way sounds cooler. Hey Jioruji. Just thought of asking you this question, perhaps you know: is there an ability to change the colors of default-styled links on Wiki? It's usually done with <style>, but for some reason it's not working here. Dmitri Fatkin 16:43, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

But yeah, [[link|<font color=green>'''Link Title'''</font>]] lets you put whatever formatting you like on the link, and depending on the formatting, it can be placed outside of the link too (I believe '''bold''' and ''italic'' work through the link as well). You need to use a Piped Link; for a template/switch/variable like that, it should work like this:

[[{{{1|Blank}}}|<font color="#00DBA0">{{{1|Blank}}}</font>]]

Blank

You're talking to a guy that built his userpage almost entirely using Tables instead of <font> tags, hehe. Until it's officially forbidden to use it, I'll keep using it. The coding's a little easier for me to type. :P But I have no problem teaching other people the "correct" way in that case.
