Fronis Lair, HM Tips[edit]

The rewards sub-section in Fronis Irontoe's Lair lists what you get from completing the dungeon in HM, not NM; that is why it has two ales rather than one.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:07, 8 April 2011

srry thought it was NM ill fix it. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Maddox1 (talk • contribs) at 20:14, 8 April 2011 (UTC).
No harm done; the hard mode bit wasn't obvious (so I added some highlighting). (By the way, when you post on a talk page, please remember to add four tildes, ~~~~, which signs and dates your post.)  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:15, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

ok --Maddox1 20:16, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

User talk:Tennessee Ernie Ford (which is also the second link in my signature, with my abbreviation, TEF). You'll notice I've been adding indentation using colons (:), which makes talk pages easier to read.
I just realized you created your account today, so welcome to Guild Wars Wiki. If you have lots of questions, there's a whole list of people who can help you with all sorts of wiki stuff (user pages, formatting, etc) at GWW:HELPERS.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:22, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Quest reward vs reward chest[edit]

I believe User:The Orlando reverted your edit of Kilroy Stonekin's Punch-Out Extravaganza! because you added chest contents to the quest reward section.

If you look at GWW:FORMAT, you'll see a variety of policies/guidelines about how to format most types of articles. GWW:QUESTS specifies that the reward section should Capture the reward given for completing the quest, which has been long since interpreted to mean what the quest log states is the reward (not anything that you might also obtain as a result).

It's confusing because you cannot complete a dungeon without taking a quest, so you always unlock a reward chest by the end of the quest. However, while you automatically get the quest reward (or at least the chance to claim it) as soon as the final boss-like foe is killed, you can easily lose out on the reward chest (e.g. through disconnect or hasty resignations). So it makes more sense to separate quest rewards from end-dungeon chests. Generally, we note these by-product rewards in notes: reputation, reward chest, and anything else that might be relevant but not official part of the quest.

I hope that helps.

(And, as a reminder, please continue to be bold and keep updating articles...as long as you don't mind getting reverted. If you do mind, post a note on the talk page to ask why something appears to be missing and/or misleading and/or flat out wrong in your estimation. That will give people a chance to discuss the idea and it almost always leads to a better article, too.)  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:51, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

So sorry again im new so i might make a coupld mistakes now and then so thanks for tellin me though--Maddox1 17:53, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
Mistakes are how we learn :-) Getting reverted is discouraging, but it's not a big deal; you are encouraged to be bold. Plus: this is a huge wiki with thousands of articles, dozens of policies, and hundreds of editors; it takes a while to learn your way around. Feel free to pop me a note if you have questions/concerns (or to any of those folks on the helper link, above).  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:05, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
