that's simple. just make the template on a page like User:Nalana Darkling/template. then include the template with {{User:Nalana Darkling/template}}. if you want to make stuff variable, put parameters in the template instead of text or code. {{{parameter}}} would be one. then include it with {{User:Nalana Darkling/template|parameter=lol}} and the code "{{{parameter}}}" will be replaced with "lol". if you put {{{parameter|default stuff}}} in the template code, that part will be replaced by "default stuff" if you don't add "|parameter=" in the inclusion. here's more info - Y0_ich_halt 09:50, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

So i am wondering more about what to put INTO the templates? =D As in, after i set up the various templates im going to be using for navigation on my userpage..what do i type in them to make headers and nav bars with functioning links, images, etc? navigation templates are usually a table with boxes containing the links. then they are included with {{User:Someone/nav}} and done. often the layout will change depending on which page it is; that's done with parameters as i mentioned above. for example, my main navigation (User:Y0 ich halt/PageNav) is included with {{User:Y0 ich halt/PageNav|1, 2 or 3}}. the template contains this code: {{#ifeq:{{{1|}}} | 1 | #fff | #e6e6fa}}; in a sentence this would mean "if parameter number 1 is equal to "1" (default value is empty: {{{1|}}}, i.e. per default the parameter is undefined), put "#fff" here, otherwise put "#e6e6fa" here." #fff is the color code for white, while #e6e6fa is a blueish color. this piece of code is put where the background color for the first box ("Home") comes. so if i include the template like this: {{User:Y0 ich halt/PageNav|1}}, the box "Home" will have white background, while the others will have normal background, resulting in a highlight effect on "Home". i put that inclusion on my main page and tada - there's my nav showing what page you're on. - Y0_ich_halt 15:52, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Well, Cyan Light was the awesome dude who initially setup the info-box thingies. Im still trying to figure out how to use templates to upgrade my userpage, but you can always just copy+past things from my or other's pages and just edit what you want (like the colors and ur info) ПALANA 22:08, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
