Looking good!

Hey Neithan! :) I see you are well on your way to finishing your title sections! :) They are looking great but I see they seem to have messed with your page a little, making your toolbar smaller and removing your side bar. To fix this I suggest that you replace the three </span> markers underneath each title section on your page instead for two </div> markers for each one so it would look like this </div></div>, because you have opened two <div>'s in each section and need to close them. Also after your first section which appears as if it is going to be your account titles section, you have two |} markers. simply remove one of them not both of them. If you have done all of the above correctly I think that should of just about fixed your page! :) If you have any more questions or concerns feel free to ask me on my talkpage! Happy editing and welcome to the wiki! =] --Alien User Alien Sig.png 18:06, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Also please note that your images do not follow our image policy because of their naming. The images are tagged for deletion but feel free to upload them again with the correct naming. Thanks! poke | talk 19:10, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi again I see you have taken my advice! :) but I realised some of what I said was infact incorrect. I am sorry about that. :( I have had another look and I think I have realised what needs to be corrected. when I told you to put two </div> markers in instead of the </span> I was correct but I was wrong about taking the </span> out aswell! Next time you edit your page put the </span> markers back in but dont replace them for the </div>'s they are also supposed to be there. :) Also about fixing your page, sorry I told you to take the wrong |} marker out you need to instead take the last |} marker out at the very bottem of your page. however you may want to put the last |} marker back in if you ever make another section below it. Hopefully this should fix your userpage this time, and sorry about before! :) --Alien User Alien Sig.png 19:16, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
fixed it for you :) poke | talk 20:15, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey, those images you uploaded are almost named correctly, you just need User in front of them. For example, User Neithan Diniem Ally 1.png. --Talk br12(talk) • 20:00, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Wintersday 2009

Hello,

I noticed you are currently participating in a revert war of the article Wintersday 2009. I suggest to keep an open mind and consult what is the consensus on the talk page instead of blindly leaving possibly incorrect information on the main page.

Have a great 2010.

- 122.2.214.86 09:01, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Also remember that I am reverting IP's changes to a bug report that a Wiki Moderator requested be kept as-is. If its causing a problem Ill stop, but perhaps that page needs be temporarily locked to keep vandalism at bay.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 09:03, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Hello Neithan,
Thank you for your swift response. I hope you are not trying to make a generalisation that unregistered users are vandals.
Either way, again I suggest an open mind and ensure that the main page reflects the consensus on the talk page.
- 122.2.214.86 09:07, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Quite contrary, IP's are only wiki members that have not set a regestered name. However, after viewing many conversations on Wynthyst's page and seeing vandalism and undo-wars myself, the general amount of it was dont via IPs or un-logged registered users. Im not going to poice the page anymore, so I hope the vandalism stops and that no suppositions are made that Im naming all IPs as vandals.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 09:12, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

SB bounty

Do you even have an idea if they are cyclical? --JonTheMon 16:35, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

no, but due to the current Zaishen system, its probable that they are using the same system. Creating the templates allows us to update the main page now without constant editing of the activities page, and should they indeed prove to be cyclical then we have no worries, the templates are made and done. If they are not then we will return to the previous method or find their real pattern.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 16:45, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
Since it's in flux right now, setting up the system now just makes a lot of extra work for each update. You should probably go with a semi-static list now, then implement the index'ing later. --JonTheMon 16:48, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
The indexing allows the cycle to move to the unknown variable. and yes, I know there is an easier way, but I dont see the reason behind not making it this way. If its too big of a hassle for players to update I can do it myself.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 16:50, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

War in Kryta Flowchart

Hey, I was reading the "Wanted by the Shining Blade" talk page and I saw you had some comments about my War in Kryta flowchart. If you could post your suggestions over on the talk page for the image, that'd be great- I've been trying to find a way to redraw the image so it's easier to read and incorporates some of the missing content. Thanks for the interest in my userpage ^^!
I see your using my character template, but have you seen the character info template? Its a separate template that is set below the character template that can display titles, goals and achievements, and even a personal story should you feel you want to do so. I see your characters also collect many different weapons. You could add a hide/show section where the weapons are in order to keep that aspect from your page, and allowing you to show off your large collection! You can post several armor pictures of your character with the character template, just say that yes, you do want that, and for extra armors like chaos gauntlets you can make another section in the template for "Additional Armors:" and make it also a hide/show section similar to the weapons. I plan to do a little upgrade to the character template soon, allowing for a Pet? yes/no variable that will hide or show the pet-related sections. You may wish to also update your version to have it if you wish.
If you have more you want to ask or need help with, Please don't wait to ask.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 00:52, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
I have seen it yes, but tbh I kinda want it all in one section like my current theme, if that makes sence lol. --Find And Seek User Find And Seek sig.png 12:28, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Then a good idea would be to use those hide/show sections to keep the page from being too long. You could also start to put some of the text below the character image box to save room too.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 15:58, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

COOL

I'll just ask for formal permission, can I use this set up? and then I'll ask for help... will you help me with this set up? but I completely love this style, and I know you hear it often, but it's sweet!

Edit
I was looking at your templates but I am wondering how you made the physical background on the page (your page, the seperate boxes, and the means of changing tabs but keeping the header the same)

Ocren 06:22, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

The header unfortunately I have not templated, but the rest is fairly simple. The physical background is not in the templates, but is instead part of my page. The first coding on the page is that blue background. I did that because people might not want a second background color on the templates. The separate boxes are made through forming a "grid" within the page, and each box of the grid is one of those boxes you see. I can change the size of the boxes by specifying how many rows or columns I want it to stretch. I can also tell it what background, border, and everything else I want by placing another box within that grid box. It sounds complicated, but just look up Help:Tables, Help:Templates, Help:WIKI, Template help, and Cheatsheet for Editing Pages on Wikipedia to find a lot of useful information, also check out Category:User templates to look at how other people use code to make their pages. My sandbox page (the link there is in my Navbar) has a section that will help more with the if/then type variables (very helpful and used a lot of the time in templates) as well as a tutorial on how to make text appear over images easier than how most people do it. If you want to use my page layout, feel free (my main page, talk page, navbar, and pvp/guild page are not in templates, just included into the main page from other pages to keep its code down), as for my navbar, you can physically copy the code over and change the code to suit your needs. Ill happily help with that if you describe what it is you want it to look like, or help you understand how you can change it yourself better.
Thanks for showing an interest in my page ^^.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 15:41, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

So, as I read some of this (and going WAY over my head, because I haven't done this in a few years, and wasn't good at it to begin with) the looks of your page is simply just 3 Individual coloums, then in those coloums you have the boxes that are static?

I'll try and get something up today and go take a look for me and give me a yeah or nah if I'm on the right track Ocren 06:45, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

It depends what page your looking at. My main page is really just two included subpages stacked over each other (Im not well known on keeping formatting the same... >_<) those pages are as you said, the top one being single row and three columns and the bottom with 2 columns. The columns I have set their max width as a % of the total page. That lets me decide how big I want a section to be. Ill look at my page formatting today and see If I cant tidy it up a bit.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 15:57, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
well, I was able to tidy up what I took off your page, just when I turned on my browser it was a little messed, which I can fix, but with this template I would be able to get it started. By the looks of it you have it so that you have made multiple pages, within the one page. I notice this because when I try to click on the user page button, it stays the same, but when i hit your main page link it goes to your main page. likewise with anything else I click. very Interesting Ocren 16:41, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Yea... something you have on your page is breaking the wiki format, I think it may be all the different <td>,<table> and the like stuff. You know the {| and <div> works for all of those, right? Also you can esily change the colors of your page if you dont like the dark blue under grey. As for my page, yea I transclude pages. Contained in my main page for example is three transclusions; my navbar is named User:Neithan Diniem/Navigation, and the page itself is made from User:Neithan Diniem/About me and User:Neithan Diniem/MGH. This lets me have pages without the clutter. If I didn't transclude my navbar Id have to have its code included in every one of my pages. Same for why I made my templates, It simplifies the code on that particular page. Anyways, I'm going to try to template my navbar, so You can perhaps use it for yourself should you want.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 16:52, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
have fun, and I fixed the problem. I had it saved before it went wonky. but Right now I'm going to slowly try adding in my character pictures, But might I ask how you got the pictures when taken, to only take the Person, not the charcter select thing too? and I saw how you put it into the box so that is an Easy thing to do Ocren 17:07, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Eh, templating my navbar isn't something I can do, so I ended that project. As for my pics I just made the game display all tabs as Largest to make the image as big as it can be, then selected my hero and took the screenshot. Quick cut out with a image program and I had my character tab. If your wanting only the character, not the box selection thing, that is something that would be difficult. You would need to go to a certain Guild Hall (one of the Nightfall ones, the black wall is inside a hut building on one of the GH forts) where there is a very black wall, take the pic, remove the black background, and then save it as a PNG to keep the transparency. That or use a Texmod mod to make some area be a greenscreen.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 17:19, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

whats the image program you had, and what program would make you be greenscreen with textmod. and I think my Alliance has a nf guildhall. or I can go there myself due to the Cantha Amassador Ocren 17:50, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Paint.net is a good program to use, though I use GIMP 2.0 now. Both are free. If you have Texmod you'll need to enter a location in Logging mode, go to your GH or whatnot and copy the texture for a box-like area (might take a while to find the textures). Then open the textures in the program your using and color them the color you want. Then you'd save the images, fix the directory, and package them into Texmod and use it. Its complicated to describe here, but there are tutorials on Youtube telling how to use Texmod with Guild Wars. The guild hall idea would be easiest, as you don't need to do all this complicated stuff for a simple pic. If your character has black on them however it may pose as a problem.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 18:00, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
that will make one of my armors a problem... can't think of which one though. but now, the fun will begin, and I should have something more then nothing next time I talk to you (hopefully tonight or tomorrow) Ocren 18:06, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, I could make the texmod mod for a greenscreen myself, really, then post it here on the Wiki. It shouldn't be too hard.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 18:09, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

When you use a template made by someone, you have to use it like they post it. That template is located here, and to use the template you must type:

When you put your name there instead of mine, the template was linking to a page that did not exist, thus the red link. If you want to make your own version of this, then you need to make a page for the template (make the template with your name in it, follow the link, and put it there) and copy all the code from my template's page (the link up there ^ ). Change the username to your own and presto, you have your own version of it that you can edit at will.
As for the border, border type, and the like, border is the color you want the border to be (my warriors page for example uses dark). The border type is the style of the line, solid, dotted, dashed, all those I believe work. As for the "Among others," just tell me what they are and Ill help you with them too. Also... I am prone to 'updating' my templates, so If I make any changes (like i recently did with the pet yes/no thing) They will be neutralchanges, meaning they will not effect the pages that currently use the template. You would need to add a new variable to the template code to see the change.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 23:39, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Okay most of it works now, thanks to your explaining. One last problem: I cant figure out how to get the picture to function. Call me an idiot but the wiki help page doesnt really.. "help". Can you explain that to me in dummy-language? DemonicFahrir 17:29, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Well if you have just a single image, ignore the multiple images variable. If you have more than one, put "yes" there. That will insert a scrollable section in the armor preview, as well as put an 's' after armor. As for the image(s), you just put the image link there. For more than one, separate the images by pressing <enter>, typing ---- (four minus signs), <enter>, then the next image. This places a little bar between the images, and makes for a more appealing appearance. The proper way to use images that are yours is to name them like so: . Put your user name in there to define the image as being within your userspace. The image name will define what that image is of (like a character, or screenshot). File type determines what type of file you are uploading. Lastly the image variable is used to determine the width of the image (height is proportionally set with the width) and/or the image's orientation on the page (left makes it align to the left, center is center, right is right).
User Neithan Diniem Neithan Diniem.jpg
Here is one of my images for example, using all the variables
So lets say your making some character images of your Assassin. You could name the first image similar to this:

As for the second, it might be like this:

This defines the images as yours, of whatever thing the image is about, what number it is of the images of the thing, the file type, the width, and the orientation.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 18:00, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks ^^. Its got some really heavy div stuff in it now. I just finalized the design, and its ready for use. I may add more things to it to allow for more customization, such as border types and the like, but for now I think Ill keep it as-is. If I make any changes to it, the changes will be neutral (as I try to do with all my updates) and not break the template. Hope you enjoy using it. sorry for anyone watching recent changes... Updating a template and checking if it really works isnt something "Show preview" can do...--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 21:31, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Set the template to "large" for you, it makes the skill names not be so smashed (darn that kurz/lux skill... breakin the look... XD). The firefox setting can only be seen if you are using Mozilla Firefox. It makes the border edges curved instead of boxed off. Its completely optional and may be left out of the template entirely if not wanted.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 21:38, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

So where are you wanting it to be at? It seems to be working on your sandbox fine. If the size is off for you, that needs to be in the div sections, not the {| area before it. Also the valign= top part should not be included in the style=... area, put the valign part separate.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 19:22, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

The part that is confusing you is probably the divs I have in there. I have several in there that permit me to set an absolute location within a box, which can be moved and the absolute will still be correctly placed within the box. That you can ignore, as it only is there to have the "Featured Armors" box thing. As for the scrollable section, that is really easy.
<div style="(optional stuff here) height: (height)px; width: (width)px; overflow: auto; padding:
(optional, sets a nice padding border around the image from the box you put it in) 1px 1px 1px 1px;" >
(image link(s) go here, separate by an [enter] space or a [----] dividing line. <br> is too much)
</div>
You can also set the background, boarder, and other options within that div, just put em at the optional place. On my page, there is the div controlling the float position, boarder, and background of the whole box, then the absolutes and the featured armors divs, then the actual scroll div for the images. Mine has a variable in it where the box is made to be scrollable only if there are multiple images. If there are, the template sets the box to scroll and makes it wider to accommodate the scroll bar to the right of the images. Also the "Featured Armor" is made plural. I know most of my coding seems odd, and it probably is overly complicated in places. Its cause I learned by experimenting and mashing together what I wanted till it worked. I hope I helped to clear it up for you.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 17:03, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
Yup, and I got it down. Thanks. *looks into the coding for text scrolling* -- Konig/talk 10:20, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Hmmm, do you, by any chance, know how to put the scrolling bar to the left side instead of the right? Because this looks silly imo. -- Konig/talk 10:33, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Nah, Im afraid I dont. I wish I did know of a way to do that, as Id Probably use it. There is a way however to hide the scroll bar entirely in IE, but in FF it will show up anyhow, as well as different screen resolutions. You'd need to use px widths to get it to still look right with that.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 20:55, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Want to help me here?

You can vote either way but I'm voting for yes.

Theres a couple people that think the voice actor should remain under trivia but I disagree, I think it should be in the infobox. I noticed that some trivia with voice actors have info about the actor instead of character, why not seperate that and make it clearer. Besides, the code may be in all npc pages but they have to add
voiceactor = Bob
in order to be effected by the change. Can you please vote? here Lucian Shadowborn User Lucian Shadowborn.jpg 00:32, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
