Formatting Talk

I know you are the one who originally contacted me on this issue, would you be the deciding factor on whether it is implemented, or no? I'm just wondering because I've have negative and positive feedback in this thread, however I don't know who can give the go-ahead for me to continue to update the missions with the new format. As for the colors, which was brought up in discussion, I believe that the gold and red goes well with the Normal Mode/ Hard Mode theme, whether it matches the blue or not. Blue is just a color that someone decided one day we were going to use for mission info templates. And, in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with having them both there. The old way we displayed Rewards worked because it did not need to be two separate sections (NM/HM). But now it does. Don't you agree? (Edit conflict) I'll answer your first question here, seeing as it would seem a little out of place on the other page - no, I don't decide on if it is implemented. Wait a few more days (a week at the least, maybe) for more people to eventually join in. If that doesn't work, try making a request for comment. It will be decided when everyone has come to some sort of agreement whether if it'll be put in - you'll know for sure when it's put into the formatting guideline template. Don't worry though, this will most probably be implemented.

I don't like getting into formatting discussions, so I'll agree on whatever everyone else agrees on. What do you mean? Do you mean changing the "User talk:Ash-ton" link to sppear as Ash-ton's talk? If so, use [[User talk:Ash-ton|Ash-ton's talk]], where the words after the | is what appears on the link. Redirects, et al

Neh, first I forgot the slash in the page move (failure #1)(in order to make it a subpage), then I went to delete-tag the original and I guess the tag got misplaced (failure #2). The original page becomes automatically a redirect page when you move it, so that's always what I've done. You beat me to fixing my fails, many thanks, the wiki's being really slow and I like to patrol recent changes as I make my weapon & boss additions. Thanks for fixing the fails! Hi, i have an alliance template here my problem is that is only link to two of the guilds. Back when i created it, it linked to them all. but after a while, when there where no pages created for the other guilds, the link was removed. Yep, you can. Use class="collapsible" in your table code to have the hide option, and class="expandable" for the show option. MediaWiki talk:CollapsibleTables.js has more detail. For example,

To align text to the left add text-align: left; into the style element of that header cell, or simply change the header cell (!) to a normal cell (|) but then you have to reapply the bold format.

1. I don't think I would accept any bureaucrat nomination unless I could retain the abilities of the sysop - I feel I'm much more suited to that role, rather than just that of a bureaucrat. (That's nothing about me wearing the sysop role as a "badge" - I think I can do better in that role rather than as a bureaucrat.)

Rawr prize images

Hey, can you explain to me (mainly I'm looking for a quote of some sort) that clarifies how the images are violating copyright? I've scoured the page and I can't find any information. I don't have any complaints of taking them off wiki. The images are used with permission from GuildCafe in order to promote the RAWR Cup. Thanks, Ekelon 01:23, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

It's because the images are the property of Logitech and Killer and have not been released under the GFDL license. If ArenaNet received permission directly from both companies to use the images on it's website/wiki then there would be no problem but since they haven't they are considered copyright violations and cannot be used on the wiki. --Kakarot 01:46, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Indeed; the GFDL (which you can find linked on Guild Wars Wiki:Copyrights) requires credit and permission from the original author in cases such as this, where the document is not under the same license. But only because ANet is allowed to use the image on their website, we are not automatically allowed to do so as well. The GuildWars website does not require to release all content under GFDL (and nothing there is GFDL btw..) and so they can use images under Fair Use (for example) or other GFDL-incompatible licenses. Well, once you've registered an account, your userspace is your username - so, User:Lacky. The IP user you used is generally regarded as not yours once you register the account, so you're restricted to basically editing your own userspace. Wiki Editing Question

I have a question regarding editing wikipedia. over time, I've been using this symbol "|" quite often. but I'm not entirely sure how to actually create it, and its annoying to have to back up to a page that has one I can copy/paste. is there a keyboard shortcut I can use to create that symbol? it sounds like a dumb question, but....I can't seem to find an answer to that anywhere >.< -- Wandering Traveler 03:39, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey hey brains, is their anyway to actually get someone to stop spamming recent changes. Skelorian Dread has swamped recent changes with an extra letter here a letter removed there type changes for the past 2 hours and its getting REALLY annoying! Marking an edit as minor or showing a preview is nothing more than a common courtesy -- if someone doesn't do it, it's likely they don't know about it and a message explaining how the two features work is the most you should do. I didn't particularly call you a hypocrite -- I was on your side and agreed that Ryudo wasn't helping things -- but I think when it comes to that kind of situation, ignoring is the best thing you can do. Bugger, that's a shame! Do you think theirs anything we can do to get them to come back? Like I dont agree with Tanaric alot but he is an excellent Admin and a very positive force in the wiki. As for SP, although she's a bit over zealous at times, she gives some life to the wiki aswell and Ryudo, although he can be a wee flame baiter, he's a good laugh and adds some humour to things when we all get too serious. It's just a new user who is either confused or hasn't had any experience with wikis. Admin intervention isn't necessary, and to be honest, "warnings" aren't either. Sure, notify, but not warn. If they're tagged, an admin is likely to reupload them for him and explain why, so he should understand through an example of his own images when that's done.

I Redid the Image on Sig But as for the Text I still think its ok as my Sig is clickable and if they want to see my actual name they have to click on the link. Its really my opinion and i am not attacking you but User Can custom their space on how they want. Image searching trouble

Hi, I don't know if i'm asking this at the right place but... maybe you can help me. I have been editing my Userpage and I have been trying to look for certain images and I wasn't able to find what I was looking for, is there any way to show a list or preview of the images that have already been uploaded (sorting them somehow) I tryed the search engine but it keeps me showing a very short list, and I can't even find images I know they must exist (for instance I was looking for a "hero" icon or something, and i have to search for "koss miniature" to find a useful one) Thank you very much. Using an Archive

Sorry to bother you, but I followed the instructions you left me for creating an archive page for my user talk page but it doesn't accept my changes. I copied and pasted everything I wanted to archive into the archive page and saved it. I made a link from my user page to the archive page. I then deleted the sections I had archived (only the things I had archived and nothing more) and yet someone keeps undoing the changes I make to my talk page and putting all the content back again. Everything is now in both places, which looks a bit silly. Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought the point of an archive was to have things in one place, not two. You did everything right, don't worry. I think someone misunderstood your removal, so they undid it. I took the archived comments off your page, so it's how it should be. Well, if it is of help, we have User:Lemming and User:Lemming64 already, and both live peacefully. As was said above, something simmilar was discussed when liche/lushh/eloc began, and since then (followed by grinch and some other unicode account) it has been implied that anything is allowed as sign as long as the respective account is registered by the same user (and we have several users with accounts and signatures totally unrelated now). Wiki issues

A few minutes ago, I had a template of my creation (can be found at Template:Guild hall expansion) purged of its contents by IP 75.152.237.162. The vandal's change was quickly reverted. Upon looking at his contributions and log, I quickly realized that this was neither a mistake nor a first-time offense. This particular IP user has deleted all data from several pages, and the user was banned for 3 days for just that. The ban, I assume, has expired, as this same user is again clearing all data from seemingly random pages of the Wiki. Since you have personal experience with this user, could you possibly do something about him? It is evident that the original 3-day ban was not enough to stop this vandal. My apologies, I didn't know the IP was actually Sinsiter Fantasy and thus why I thought it was just a vandal making incorrect changes to the page, if I had of known it was Mel, i wouldn't have brought it to the admin noticeboard and would have instead sought to work it out with her and reach some sort of compromise. Honestly just thought it was some random person who was messing about, in light of the spree of anti-lazy vandalism we've had in the last month.
