Guardian Guardian[edit]

Raine's Proposal[edit]

Just a little buff to help out against caster pressure. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 19:16, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Don't you think that would make a bit too generic? Maybe add a few points of recharge, or lower the duration a bit to compensate? Because the alternatives should still remain alternatives, not unwanted because this is so good. How about changing Shield Guardian into this. but at 10 energy? You could either get cheap protection against melee, or a bit more expensive protection against everything that way (and SG asks for a change). 145.94.74.23 14:26, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
I kinda like your idea, but that would make Guardian perhaps a little too cheap multi-purpose prot. The whole point of GW as a mmorpg is that you can't have all your skills with you at the same time. Those 8 skills are the only ones you can take with you, and that's why multi-purpose skills usually have the upper hand in whatever you're doing. Also, block skills don't need to be buffed in general. Melee/attackers already have enough counter measures... like kiting, blind, snare, you know that stuff. If you want anti-spike prots, there's Reversal of Fortune and Spirit Bond for y'all. 62.197.173.242 09:11, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Raine's Proposal[edit]

It might be a little too h4x. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 19:16, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Channeling or Divine Spirit don't care about being disabled. Unrelated to balance matters, I don't like having skills that do the same thing; this is the child of Xinrae's Weapon and Spirit Bond. Vili User talk:Vili 19:18, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
PS + SB + PD, tbh. An elite PS + SB was always something I thought would be neat since PRage, and the disable was necessary to (1) keep it from being lolWTFimba and (2) keep it in the spirit of the original. But I understand liking skills that do different things (I think skills should be cool and fun to use), I just went with this idea for this particular skill because it was basically a clean slate (by which I mean, skills that are already viable could just need a tweak; this skill gave me a lot more room for change).
Divine spirit would make your whole team lol immune to spikes for 10 seconds. But... it kinda already does that. And Channeling is already h4x; that's an issue with Channeling. I mean, being able to spam RoF and gain energy is... pretty damn strong. I think it would be fine with Divine Spirit, because the duration is so short. But Channeling needed a nerf in any case, IMO. Boro's Proposal[edit]

Nice concept, but I think it's a little weak (though that may just be me). I'd make it a solid +40 against elemental damage (Half damage -> half chance to block) and 50% off hex durations. Alternatively, "Hostile spells against target ally have a 50% chance to fail". User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 22:03, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

That's pretty fucking strong for 5 energy and fairly spammable. +40 armor is not at all equivalent to half chance to block, either, for one big reason: blocking still stacks. You also have to consider that if someone's using an elemental weapon mod, that screws them over way more than Guardian ever could, because even their unblockable attacks do ~half damage. And it protects against most spellcasters; Guardian could never do that. +40 armor also happens to be the same as with Shield of Regeneration, yet that is elite and costs three times as much energy. Vili User talk:Vili 22:29, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
A 50% chance to block actually negates a lot more than half the damage that a person would take because it slows adrenaline flow, breaks assassin chains, and negates 50% of condition application through attack skills. Contrarily, someone with an elemental weapon mod would be doing more than half damage overall because it would only halve their base damage (not their additional damage from attack skills) and they could still, say, Dismember you or land Bull's Strike without having to worry about it being blocked. Unrelatedly, weapon swapping is good (yes, it screws over Conjure dervishes. They lose 12 damage from Conjure, then gain 5 back when they switch to their vamp scythe). As far as blocking still stacking, this proposal doesn't offer a chance to block (it's just the +armor and hex duration); if anything, it's actually weaker because the armor bonus doesn't stack, while Guardian's block does. Shield of Regeneration also grants a significant amount of health regeneration, which costs 10e in similar amount. It also casts twice as fast as a similar regeneration spell and this combined would. It also doesn't require a dual spec. The only thing this would offer in combination would be the 50% hex duration reduction, which is, agreeably, pretty potent.
I think granting a 50% chance to cause spells to fail would be the single most in-line change. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 00:19, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
I tweaked the numbers. I don't want to make it such a drastic hex counter, because if we make many hex counters, eventually hexes will be buffed. I would rather nerf some hexes. Boro 10px‎ 12:40, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
