There isn't much to tell. I an't be at PaX. So... the logical thing to ask is to bring the mountain to Mahoma, logical yet a bit impossible, though. So just trick a naive employee into spending all hi time recording everything to post in Anet's Youtube channel. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 21:39, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Oh, you guys. :-P Mith, we probably couldn't record every single thing we do, but I can suggest recording some highlights or fun stuff. :-) --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 01:03, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
That would make a great addition to the ArenaNet youtube video link! Pkohler01 01:41, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
Not to mention if would be cool for an updated facebook page. --Smithy-Star User Smithyben sig icon.png 09:20, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Sharing PAX with community

You mentioned brainstorming ideas on how to share your PAX activities with those who cant attend. Have you considered a WebEx? There are countless providers who could provide streaming services for you for this as well as community resources, such as Blade Radio, who you could partner with to provide extended coverage. Something that might be cool is having a couple of NPC's in some outpost providing additional commentary. Using existing NPC models (Cynn, Eve, Mhenlo, the frog, etc) would be a novel way of enhancing it. 24.188.207.20 23:04, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

She Could do that but please no blade radio, I was scammed by them once, and if it wasn't a scam it sure was a childish trick.74.173.107.209 10:46, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
What did they do to you? (You can reply on my talkpage, I'm just curious, unless you wish to share it here.) User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 22:53, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Using in-game featuires to convey PAX information... It sounds like it would be too labor and time intensive for the devs to prepare ahead of time, so I don't think we could do this. WebEx seems a little too corporate for what we're looking for, if I am looking at the correct product. Having said that, in the past week I think we've got a better handle of possible methods, and it will probably include some visual elements like we did last year with the Flickr stream. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 00:59, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Possibly throw the dust off this NPC (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Imperial_Herald)? --Ravious 13:20, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Just had a chat about the team, and it sounds like they aren't keen on using NPCs too much in ways that would break the 4th wall (e.g. talking about PAX via NPCs). But I've brought it up so it's at least on their minds. It looks like we'll mostly be using web-based channels. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 18:32, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Cool. Hope that flickr account gets some updates too. :) --Ravious 20:55, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Regina, WebEx was a tool that was designed for corporate web conferences, you're right there. But, Wolfram used a similar tool for the live broadcast of the launch of their WolframAlpha resource that featured a "host" or "moderator". The video feed was presented through several online services (free of charge) and included chat so that viewers could discuss what they were seeing. It was very cool and not corporate at all. It was really more of a social media event. But it probably also took a lot of leg work to get set up. Anywho, thought I'd throw that out there (I'm the OP). Whatever aNet decides to do with PAX, I'm sure it's going to be cool! Pkohler01 01:40, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Looking forward to how you will share the GW PAX experience

Looking forward to see what happens at PAX and what is discussed. All I can say is have fun, Regina and the rest of anet. I wish I could come with and meet the very people behind my favorite computer game ever :(

Are you going to be bringing with Boxing Gloves again to counter-argument any QQers, something like you once mentioned on GuildWarsGuru? XD Or will you be "accidentally" "leaking" "update plans" during a Q&A session?

I have a request for you guys to do while there, albeit, a silly one, but if you guys ever get the chance, I want to see the hilarious effect it'd have with the community if somehow you guys ever referenced the infamous "mending Whammo" or "Frenzy Healing Signet" jokes whenever it is in the proper context :P

Anyways, kick some ass and represent the Guildwars community!

~ Kain Fy

Thanks, Kain. :-) I'm not a violent person (unless I am trying to kick butt in a fighting game), so I won't be bringing any boxing gloves, but I will definitely be there with the other ArenaNet staffers to hang out and chat to our fans. The designers may have some opportunity to make those jokes, though it depends on how many really hardcore fans show up. :-) --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 01:02, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

The Guild Wars Live Krewe

Hey Regina, I've been wondering about this Krewe for some time now since I first saw it mentioned. I realise that you're probably still working on this, but I was wondering if there was some new information on it anyway. I'm one of the many people who'll probably end up applying so I guess I'd like to know if you have any idea how much longer the development process for this will be. :) -- User Elveh sig.png Elv 10:57, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Elv: I don't have new information beyond the fact that we're continuing to work on the back end technical side to support this. I don't have a timeframe that I can disclose to you. We're working on it diligently, and believe me, we want to get it up sooner rather than later. However wanting something doesn't necessarily mean that there aren't logistical things to keep in mind, like scheduling, workload, and time commitments of the people involved, who are working on multiple projects. --63.126.183.110 19:13, 23 July 2009 (UTC) --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png (This was Regina. Didn't realize I was logged out. O_o)
All right, I'll just go hide in my little corner of patience then until you have some more info. Thanks! :) -- User Elveh sig.png Elv 21:05, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Henchman Skillbars - Legal Issues?

I noticed on your journal that you mentioned the Henchman Skillbar issues and the lawyers were working overtime on this. Um...why? Do the henchies have restraining orders? ;) Saldonus Darkholme 10:52AM 28 July 2009

So, if you're familiar with the wiki discussion about licensing terms and accepting suggestions and ideas from the community, you will kind of get an idea of why there needs to be legal framework around getting community input in terms of ideas for new Henchman Skill bars. :-) --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 19:47, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I didn't know about a Henchman skillbar project regarding community input. I thought you were saying you were in the process of possibly changing the henchie's skills but you had to talk to the lawyers to d it. That's why I was questioning it. Saldonus Darkholme
Tbh, if I were a henchmen, I'd be getting onto my lawyers to find out why I haven't got an overpowered meta skill bar like the rest of the playerbase :-). 81.105.65.18 09:29, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Soccer team?

So you guys play soccer at Anet? That is awesome! Since I'm from South America, and soccer is like the national game on each country I'm thrilled to read that. Those Mirosoft guys had it coming, serves them well for giving us Windows ME. I don't mind you guys losing to Monolith, but please, please, please kick those pompous Blizzard geeks' asses! --talk Large 04:32, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

I wonder if they employ a zerg rush tactic, or shout "For Aiur!" when on the offense. Maybe they have their very own Leeroy Jenkins? -UnderatedTalk 19:06, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the support, all. :-) As far as I know, Blizzard is located in Irvine, California. Our team plays in a local league for videogame developers in the Seattle/Bellevue/Redmond, Washington area. So I don't think our team will be playing against Blizzard anytime soon. :-) --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 21:20, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Drunkard Title Improvements

I am currently trying to add to my drunkard title. I find it a little hard to know what level of drunkeness I am currently on. Yes I know that I can use the hero panel to see the drunk minutes accumulate but having the hero panel open while playing can clutter the screen. It is also a pain opening and closing the hero panel to check the minutes and sometimes I forget which minute I started. I dont like having post-process effects turned on as it can make your eyes go abit funny after a while. It would be nice to have icon in the effects monitor just like the sweet tooth items. After I thought of this I then realized there is a icon similar to what I had in mind. The Spear of Archemorus and the Urn of Saint Viktor both display 5 different levels just like being drunk. I think this would be a great idea because players can quickly find out what level of drunkeness they currently are on quickly. Also this would help when using skills that are affected by being drunk.--Dragon SoulEater 14:26, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

There is already an icon for the Grog. It's already done. Now... the thing is the rest of the beverages. They don't have it. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 14:41, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
In the meantime, use this [1]. --Arduin talk 14:44, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
That link got a "Database Error." O_o Anyway, Dragon speaks for everyone, and I do have some as of yet unofficial good news. Linsey has mentioned recently that she has a sticky note for the Drunkard title, and she has been involved in the "drunk status icon" discussions, so we are all expecting one in the next content update. Until then, I use some simple math to try keeping track of my minutes. I drink a Firewater to "prime" and then look at my title points and the size of my booze stash. Let's say I have 2,485 minutes in my title and 76 eggnogs. Add the last 2 digits of each, so 5+6=11. When the number is greater than 10, only the last digit matters, so either 11 or 1 is your "sum" to remember. This number needs to stay constant. Once my title ticks to 2,486, 6+6=12, no good, drink a nog to decrement my stash to 75, 6+5=11, we're good again. You can allow for a difference of up to 3 minutes this way until you have to "prime" again. Once you're 3 off from your "sum," prime again or you will be wasting booze. Needless to say, I always have one stash of strong and one stash of weak booze. Strong is always for priming until I run out of weak, then it doesn't matter. buggy updates

Has anet actually tested these updates lately in the last few updates thiers always a buggy skill or new bugs come about I undertand that its a hard process and all but somethings gotta give regina make QA team get on the ball here theyre either lazy, not attentive or just oblivious to these bugs and its makeing the pl doing these updates look bad sorry f it seems like a rant ts not my intenton its just something thats been an issue for quite sometime this year

Obviously a lot of these things are hard to forsee, but the previous poster does have something of a point in that atm we are getting quite a few bugs per update. OK, they have mostly been fixed fairly quickly afterwards, but if this just down to a lack of testing or what (and will this "Live Test Krewe" help solve that?). 81.105.65.18 09:24, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

GW2 Trailer

Excellent job! :O Missed the trailer at Gamecom, saw the NCSOFT stand though, but it was flooded with Aion... Took a quick look, didn't find any GW-stuff, so I went on.. Just viewed the trailer on the internet, and I have high expectations of GW2 now! Good luck, I'll be there when it's done!!! Joetjah 01:10, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
