community visits

In the good old days it was fun to watch the friendslist in a corner of the eye. There she was again, back from hard work and spending time with the community...to have a chitchat, a little deserved pizza and a cat growning on her laps. It was an old cat but still enjoying watching her reacting on a large responsive community. Nowdays it´s quiet...the new community manager does not announce her coming. We dont see when see comes and goes. A shame...because with the silence the people go away. The feeling of having a serious part in the fantasy world is fading. Only a name, only a whisper from future occasions would bring more joy to live and participate in the life of reincarnation. A message into the community that a watcher is among us...told to everyone who wants to hear her responsive and eagerly wanted insights of what happens on the other side of the lore. Please make more noise of a present of a CM...gw2 birth is taking long, give us a sign some light some unwritten to be written transcripts manuscripts or other news from the future of gw2...thank you. On what charactername do you visit and at what times...please know that when one continent is asleep the other continent is keeping the economic alife and visa versa. Use world chat to tell the world you are there. Didis

Pet info

1 thing that has been severely lacking since the start of this wiki is the absence of official pet evolution information. Now this has been asked before to Gaile back when she was still Community Manager (as evidenced by the pet talk page talk item #9 "Pet Evolution"). I had also asked even earlier then that but with no official results. I am wondering if we could finally get some official info on pet evolution. This would be very appreciated Mashav 14:05, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

RE: Journal 16 July 2008

Hey Regina, how do your Star Craft and Halo skills stack up? Are there and other games we could try our hand at playing you in? I'm sure my dismal DDR and Takken skills would make you appear to be as a God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals. --Wolf User Great Darkwolf UserImage.jpg 17:20, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

On a more pressing note, who do you play in Tekken. DarkNecrid 19:27, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
I was never that good at RTSs or FPSs, so I would be no match for anyone at Starcraft or Halo, sadly. I can play decently at Guitar Hero and Rock Band (drums). I used to be all right at Street Fighter (Blanka) and Marvel vs. Capcom (Morrigan, Jin). In Tekken, I typically play Nina, but I also play Asuka. The two new characters in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection are pretty cool, too. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 00:58, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
What difficulty for Guitar Hero and Rock Band? --Wolf User Great Darkwolf UserImage.jpg 01:14, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Blanka is hella awesome. You should enjoy him in Street Fighter IV when it comes out in America, he is pretty good in it. DarkNecrid 10:27, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Guitar Hero and Rock Band both on Medium. I haven't played GH in ages and ages, so my skills are a bit weak right now. In Rock Band, I'm stuck on "Run to the Hills" on Medium (drums). Dear gods, why is this song so freaking hard?! --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 15:36, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Lol, b/c its freakin Iron Maiden XD. HAve you played Number of the Beast? That's even worse! But then agian. Green Grass High Tides expert guitar line is just uncool. I've passed it twice, but could any time except for ONE part in the solo, now if I had soemone backing me up...... Would be fun to do some Rock Band. I'm sure I would be no match for you on drums, or even vocals for that matter, but if we got a band going =D. --Wolf User Great Darkwolf UserImage.jpg 15:47, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Iron Maiden, not that difficult imo. Compare that to cheeseforce on GH3 on expert. RSI moar plz. If you don't know what I mean by cheese, then learn your metal =D Napalm Flame 17:24, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Hey, they're pretty good. TtFaF may be insanely over-rated and ruined by everyone that has ever play GH3, but Operation Ground and Pound, Revolution Deathsquad and Cry for Eternity are all awsome, and so is the rest of their stuff. "Cheeseforce"? Hardly. Before I take another topic far off onto a tangent that detracks from the original conversation, if you wan to continue this conversation Napalm, head over to my talk page and we can continue there, thanks. --Wolf User Great Darkwolf UserImage.jpg 17:33, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Oh shoot, I meant "Green Grass and High Tides" was the song I was stuck on. I got the titles mixed up. O_o Yeah. So "Green Grass and High Tides" on Medium, drums. Stuck. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 23:58, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Also a rather hard drums song :P Over all, I'd say rock band has much harder drum content than Guitar. I personaly don't possess the skills to drum effectively. I cannot coordinate my foot and both hands/arms correctly, can't keep them all doing something different at the same time on rythme. Well, plus my internal metranome ticks off beat XD. don't even ask about my throwing/catching skills XD --Wolf User Great Darkwolf UserImage.jpg 01:05, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

I love DDR; I wish I was going to PAX. I'm a Standard junkie, too... what's your favorite DDR song to play, Regina? Antialias02 17:22, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Many of my fave songs are the older ones, circa 3rd Mix: "Dan Dariram", "Do It All Night", "Dub-I-Dub", "Stomp to My Beat", etc. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 23:58, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Special Party for those that cannot visit PAX?

Special Event for those that cannot visit PAX but still party along? With the same information communicated in-game as at PAX? Is that a possibility? --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 13:23, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm gunna try and pass on as much info to the wikifolk here as I can. I'll be at PAX for all 3 days and have a laptop handy. --Wolf User Great Darkwolf UserImage.jpg 13:49, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
That's unlikely. We won't be making any announcements about Guild Wars 2 at PAX, nor will we be showing Guild Wars 2. I'm not sure what information you'd like, apart from write-ups / summaries of what happened at our panels, and an in-game chat is not the best vehicle for that by a long stretch. Perhaps someone from Massively, Joystiq, or another blog or even one of the fansites may be at PAX to cover the panels, who knows? ArenaNet staff will be appearing at some panels, but it would be logistically difficult for our team to run all our tournaments at PAX, for me to be present at the booth with the other staff speaking to con-goers, and for me to also be holding another PAX event in-game, as our panels are scheduled during or very close to times when I will be working on other events, such as the party. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 16:10, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, that cat is outa the bag, and one of my worst fears have just been confirmed. --Wolf User Great Darkwolf UserImage.jpg 16:14, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Too bad for the "no-news" bit. But what about a "special drop weekend" (party items or such?) as a "darn-too-bad-we-won't-be-able-to-see-you-long-distance-fans-at-PAX"? And thank you Regina, that was a fast answer as ever. --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 16:19, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Ouch, I felt that impact from here, ah Wolf. I know you were itching to go there and get some information on Guild Wars 2. 000.00.00.00 06:40, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Aww, ever the optimist that I am, already told folks I was hoping to hear something new at PAX. I'll still go though, just because I am a sucker for signed prints (which I hope will be available). As for the space issue, yeah I remember how crowded it was last year too and wish I had an idea for you. Hmm...how much pain for the VIP ticket? Can people who got one last year still get one this year? Or would that just be bad manners? I strangely had lots of fun talking about guns and booze with a group of devs last year! Kalidri 08:01, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
"Cat out of the bag"? We've posted about this already in the forums.
As for the VIP ticket, it'll be easy to get, but what makes it VIP is that numbers are very limited, and only VIPs are allowed into the party for the first three hours. Just introduce yourself to me, and start talking to me. I'm not going to make it hard or make you jump through too many hoops to get swag and a chance to get a VIP ticket.--Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 16:29, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
You go! Kalidri...wuuhhhuuhhh...--Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 16:39, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
@Regina, I tend to not do forums. Keeping up with things here on the wiki already consumes a lot of my time, and I fear forums would eat more. Plus, I like the wiki crowd a lot more =D. "Cat out of the bag" in the sense that it's some pretty big news, and can realy cause some trouble if the right people get ahold of that information. I'm personally with-holding that bit from my guild, as I know for a fact that atleast half of them will come to the wiki and start flame wars and vandalize everything like crazy, but I digress. As for the VIP tickets, I'll be sure to stop by and secure myself one. I also owe a friend visits to the Bungie and Rooster Teeth booths, plus I need to say Hai to the folks at the Bethesda and THQ booths, but you guys will be sure to geta visit from me. We may not have to jump through too many hoops, but who says they have to be easy to jump through? =D --User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png Wolf User Great Darkwolf UserImage.jpg 17:18, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I did see it in forums before this...but I guess it didn't have the same finality as the journal post, so truth be told it was more 'nail in coffin' than anything else. I wasn't expecting to see "real live screen capped" GW2 at this point, but I was hoping for some discussion and maybe to see some concept art. Y'know, those tempting little things that keep fans interested. There's been lots of conversation within my little alliance about not having enough novel things to do. Granted, I run in a pack of ridiculous title hunters and perhaps we should slow down, but we all have so much fun and always want more! Kalidri 18:44, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Yeah, what I was hopping for was just some new concept art, and maybe some bits and bobs and maybe something about a feature or two that could make it to the game, maybe somemore lore. -- User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png Wolf User Great Darkwolf UserImage.jpg 18:50, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

I was also hoping for GW2 news, but they didn't have any last year and their booth was still fun, so I imagine this year will be fun also! Now, I know Regina is not Gaile, but last year Gaile was crazy busy the entire time I saw her at pax. Basically you look away in a conversation with her and look back and someone else was right there asking her something. I imagine Regina will be in a similiar situation, so I can't imagine her having any time to throw an in-game party as well. IIRC there was an event on during PAX last year, and I wouldn't be surprised if they threw an automated one in. For information though, I'd be looking at the forums. User Purple llama sig.png purple llama 22:51, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Yep, and I'm looking forward to speaking to all the players. There will be fun tournaments running throughout the time we're at PAX. Mike Z has tried to make the format accessible, so you don't have to be a super hardcore PvPer to play and do well. However, there are no plans to have a wider event beyond the tournaments running during PAX. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 19:43, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
I attended GenCon when ArenaNet was there. The Sealed Deck play was a blast, and I remember the winning team had a member of [BOAT] on it, a group that was pretty much exclusively PvE. There were also some really dandy top guild players on that team, too. It was a lot of fun just to watch the tournament. Sealed Decks do help level the playing field somewhat between very good PvP players and more average players. My guild's run a few Sealed Deck tournaments, too, and we'll get people playing PvP at that point who never usually play PvP. I miss the AN presence at GenCon. Yes, I know that PAX is huge and local, and that ComicCon is likewise large--but they're all West Coast. It'd be nice to get some presence east of the Mississippi!ceolstan 12:32, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
I know how you feel man. Although, I am flyign out there for PAX, but the main reason that is working is becuase it corresponds with other engagements that require me to be in the seattle area, or I would not be missing a good friends wedding for a game convention. --Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 16:25, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
Are there any details yet as to what Anet is going to be doing/presenting at PAX? --Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 20:48, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
The web team is working on building the event pages, so you'll have details in the next couple of weeks. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 19:10, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
KK, thanks, keep us posted :) --Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 19:12, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
It makes sense that no GW2 info will be released at PAX, I was bracing myself for that. I'm sure NCSoft doesn't want anything to distract from their promotion of Aion. I just hope NCSoft doesn't decided they're so well off with Aion that they don't need Arenanet and their unique subscription model any more. --User mrsmiles tinysmile.png MrSmiles 05:18, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, it makes sense that Aion would be the focus this year, I just had no idea how far along it had come and such, as I was not followign it at all, and it had pretty much slipped out of my mind. --Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 18:05, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
I can understand NCSoft's interest in promoting Aion. However, the absence of GW2 information does have an impact on our playerbase. My guild is PvX, so as players tire of PvE, we can try to get them into PvP--though with the PvP learning curve being what it is, PvP is not nearly as newbie-friendly as it was about 2 years ago! Still, the lack of new information about GW2 and GW2 testing (of prime importance to my guild, which was active in testing up to the very end) hasn't helped insofar as retaining player interest. However, I'm quite intrigued about the project that the devs have been saying they're working on! ceolstan 14:53, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

RE: Journal 5 August 2008

So, you said: " International travel is not as easy for citizens of my country than for countries such as the United States." I'm curious, are you not a US citizen yet? If so, (should you be inclined to answer) what country are you from or formerly/currently a citizen of? Or am I just reading that wrong? --Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 19:08, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

'Feel free to speculate according to that list: http://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/diplo/en/WillkommeninD/EinreiseUndAufenthalt/StaatenlisteVisumpflicht.html It's the same for all "Schengen Countries", not just Germany. Special rules only apply to British Nationals from the (former) Commonwhealth who are basically treated as Europeans. But if Seattle has an office of ANY Schengen Country it can't hurt ask them if they can give Regina a valid Schengen Visa. After all, she is not travelling to Germany, but into the EU. AFAIK it does not matter which country issued the Schengen Visa for Regina, she can travel freely within the Schengen treaty Zone (15 Countries) with it.--4thvariety 21:11, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I would have been applying for a Schengen Visa. This was already discussed internally and with consultation of the company we use for visa services, so the decision on it is final. Plus, my reservations have already been cancelled. :-)
I am not a US citizen; but I am a Permanent Resident of the US. I'm a citizen of the Republic of the Philippines. It's a long and boring story for why I'm not a US citizen yet, but I'm planning on applying this year if I have enough money. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 21:51, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Ah, kk. So, about this big update. Would you say it's big as in sheer amount of content/changes, ro big in impact? --Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 21:55, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

I just wanted to mention that - even though you can't go into detail about the projects or the update necessarily, it's cool to be reminded that things are going on behind the scenes. Thanks for the update, Regina! (And sorry to hear you won't make it to GC). Antialias02 16:58, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Sorry that you won't be going to Leipzig. The publicity from last year looked pretty good. Again, thanks for indicating that there's something going on that we'll see sometime. There have been hints dropped here and there, but it's good to see that whatever it is will be on the table for a "Friday." :P ceolstan 03:23, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

but that was one hell of an update. I can only show you all my gratitude with mere words, Regina, and Linsey, and all the others who worked with you. Yseron - 90.28.214.36 04:30, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

More Information coming soon???

Respectfully request your (Regina) presence to a by-you-predefined-location where the wiki community can bribe you with your favourite foods, ambiance and prezzie's to tickle you silly into disclosing more information about GW2? Can you atleast tell us when the Campaign train for gw2 starts? Anything? Not yet? Soon? Now? Image? --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 12:35, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

You forgot "BBQ!". But seriously, it would be rather nice to have more information at least about the Guild Wars 2 books; they have already been officially announced at P.A.X. (and at the Twitter page), but so far people that were not in the show have had to rely on somewhat conflicting reports. Erasculio 12:46, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
One - No GW2 info will be forth-coming until Anet feels it is ready to present. They have held a firm possition on this, and I don't think bribes are gunna change any of that. Two - They hahve already told us pretty much all they know about the books. I was talking with an Anet staff member at the GAmes Works party, and they said they came close to telling more than they knew about the books. — Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 21:33, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Seriously, I wish I could talk about it. Everyone on the Community Team is dying for them to allow us to show you something, but the development and production teams just won't have it. They're not ready to show anything off to the public just yet. They want to impress everyone and make a big splash. This is the reasoning behind the decision. Also, there are also strong business reasons for it. For example, we don't want to show off stuff that our competitors might copy. The Community Team is just as impatient as you, even moreso since we have seen the game, but unfortunately, the Powers That Be have decided to keep everything hush-hush for now. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 02:07, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
"For example, we don't want to show off stuff that our competitors might copy." That I never considered, but valid point. Not saying that it won't happen but maybe a big splash idea is better :). Best of luck of the design team and keep hard at work :). Dominator Matrix 02:09, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Disconnect Inquiry?

Any news yet on the Inquiry you made concerning the Global Disconnect and Lagg issue's? --Silverleaf User_talk:Silverleaf 12:38, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I'd like to know when its safe to come back to Guild Wars, taking a breather as the lag was just making the game unplayable. Support not much help, tried to blame my ISP even after the ping program they told me to try showed an issue at their end. Please, no more of this Lag Wars version >.< 118.92.205.189 00:17, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Been safe for a long time, come back home. — Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 00:34, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
No it hasn't been, lost my survivor the other day. Stupid lag. 118.92.205.189 07:15, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Then its obviously either driver failure, or isp problem. I have very picky internet when it comes to GW and its fine currently. Plus no one said that the internet is perfect. Dominator Matrix 23:15, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
The internet is full of phail. — Wolf User Great Darkwolf User Image paw.png 23:34, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Ping testing showed issue at Plaync server end, not my ISP [which has improved greatly over the last few months] or the route to Guild Wars servers [which can be previously argued], Support has let me know they are investigating it further and will be sending findings to the Devs, and not everything can be blamed on the internet, and my loss of survivor was not driver failure as when my survivor was killed I was spike lagged that lasted over 2 minutes, I was in a party [I, being Survivor, being back] but was killed during this lag time. Hard to drive when the server won't let us >.< 118.92.205.189 05:09, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
If you where with your friends when you got the lag. It could be a routing issues as the path to the server isn't always the best and has to connect to everyone. Dominator Matrix 19:46, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

I have been talking to support and the network team for months about these reports. They ask you all to submbit tickets to our Customer Support team so they have enough data to work with so they can pinpoint the issues and see where they lie on our end, if they indeed lie on our side. I'm sorry that this isn't more helpful, but I have been pestering them, and this is what they continue to tell me to relay to you. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 02:03, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
