I wonder if anyone has an image of the in-game gnomes I seem to remember from BWE, to make a GuildWarsWikiGnome. Vlad 13:52, 1 March 2007 (EST)

[edit] Ranger template
Is it broken?
if so, is it anything to do with the "noincludes" on the template's page (put there for the category stuff, I presume?) And why am I asking myself? Think I wiki a little too much --Snograt
17:18, 6 March 2007 (EST)
- You need to use lowercase, like so

[edit] Skills 0..12..15
Hi Snograt, I noticed that you've been putting (at least some) of the skills with a 0..12..16 format (see Burning Arrow). Aren't we using 0..12..15? -Spot 13:21, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- Oh crap - 0..12..15? That's not good - I wouldn't know WHERE to source those figures. I was nabbing the figures from gwBBcode, which I'd assumed were the same as the in-game ranges. I better stop entering them until I am at home and can correlate one with the other. Damn, I entered every single Elite skill that way :( Thanks for the heads-up, Spot (won't stop me altering all the font tags to span style tags though^^) --'Snograt
13:37, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- Aha - I see what I did there. That was one of the skills already in place that I edited the skill ranges. There was a scaling table already in place, and I stupidly took the shortcut of copying the (wrong) figures from there. Now I'm a little more educated, I won't make that mistake again :) Also, I just checked the discussion at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Formatting/Skills#Attribute levels in skill descriptions and it would seem that the gwBBcode ranges are in the 0..12..15 range, so I can continue using them. --'Snograt
14:13, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- Not sure what this gwBBcode is, but I checked the progression of a few skills like Quicksand, and noticed that the green numbers still seem to be using 0..12..16. -Spot 17:24, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- Oh dear. That's certainly not good. gwBBcode is a Guild Wars skill display system designed for forums which enables easy build formatting with mouseover description popups. It's widely used - similar to the system they use on guildwarsguru. See the originator's site - [3]. Problem is, if that is definitely the 0..12..16 format, then I'm likely not the only one making this mistake. I'd better leave a note on the skills formatting page. __'Snograt
21:16, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- Geez, I seen the latest update and its using the 0..15 so I'm going to start using the ".." over the "..." seen in the game when unlocking skills. I'm one of those who been using the 0...12...16 so it's going to change to 0..12..15 so it'll be less work for you,Snograt. btw Snograt, green is wonderful for the skill numbers just like how it's done ingame.:)--Bane of Worlds 21:54, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- Wow - thanks for the vote of confidence, Bane. I was beginning to think the green idea was just a one-man crusade :) As to the 0..12..15 thing; I'm thoroughly confused. I'm not going to create any more skill pages until I work out what's going on. I just put a note on the Formatting/Skills page - maybe those-who-know-everything will knock some facts into this old head ^^ --'Snograt

Hey, you might copy the infobox code onto your userpage instead of using the template, and you can make it look exactly as you want :) (regarding the wikignome thingy, which I think is very fun ^^ ) - Anja Astor 15:51, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

- There is some parameters left, but they don't pose a problem as I see it. If you want to, I can clean it up alittle and explain what I do, if you want to learn ;) Not necessary though, it looks nice already ^^ - Anja Astor 06:09, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
- Actually Anja, if you wouldn't mind doing that, it would be great. I edited the code with zero understanding, but used a bit of logic as to what did what. I really should read up on this stuff. Problem is, I don't even know what this stuff is :D I mean I don't know what is wiki code, what's css or whatever. And I think css is a subset of HTML, but that's just guesswork. Any pointers would be much appreciated :) --'Snograt

- Now I did some cleaning, just minor stuff in the code. I replaced all {{pipe}} with |, those are used in templates with ParserFunctions since |'s mess upp parser coding. I also removed all old parameters, those are recognised by "{{{" and "}}}" and only used in templates. I removed the noinclude tag, since I guess your userpage isn't included somewhere so it needs that, correct me if I'm wrong ;) And lastly I just have one thing I didn't remove, and that is the {{clear}} tag, since I don't know if you actually want the text to start below the infobox, or if you want it beside the infobox. Just remove that yourself if you want the text to be beside it, like in the NPC articles :) - Anja Astor 10:30, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
- Hehe - I wondered what the clear did ^^. Thanks for that, Anja :) --'Snograt

[edit] user skin
Would you be opposed to having your User:Snograt/monobook.css updated to the latest User:Smurf/GuildWars.com skin.css? The reason for this is that the hotlinked external images in the old skin version causes a security issue (see Guild Wars Wiki talk:User page#Custom skin remote links). Also, note that image policy has been updated to include "All images used on the Official Guild Wars Wiki should be uploaded here. Do not hotlink to images on other websites (including the Official site." --Rezyk 16:02, 31 March 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Image help?
Couple of problems with my sig image (
). Firstly, as I set it to redirect to my user contributions, I can no longer view the image page (as there's no "redirected from..." link on special pages :/). Secondly, would anyone with some image editing skills care to tidy it up? It's a rip from AC
DC's logo, but I'd like a nice black border around it - at the moment, the top of the image is un-bordered. Only image ed software I have is Fireworks - not much success using that :( --'Snograt

[edit] Restrictive internet filter?
Heh, I know the feeling. Sometimes I really need to access something outside of my corporate firewall, so I made one of these: [4]. It's quite useful - enter the link you're trying to get to, and it'll take you there, past the filter - much joy. Enjoy! =) MisterPepe talk 18:47, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

- Thanks for trying MisterPepe - this damn company and their stupid rules. I can understand a degree of filtering being necessary, but this system is over-the-top. I can't access anything tagged as "Games", so even guildwiki is out. God forbid they ever tag this site. I won't mention my company's name - let's just say they run a subterranean transportation system in the capital city of a major English-speaking European nation ;). We have about 500-odd locations using a variety of PCs running everything from Windows NT (which I'm stuck with), 2000pro and XP. The software is diabolical and the individual user profiles are totally screwed. I just count myself lucky that I can still wiki edit while I'm on nights. --Snograt

[edit] about my sig
Hi Snograt, you said that if i need extra help with my sig to come to you so.... anyway i tried doing this code: <spanstyle="color:navyblue"> The Forsaken</span><spanstyle="color:navyblue"> One</span but it just said " Invalid raw signature, check HTML code " (or sumthing like that) so idk what 2 do, all i want is my name do be dark blue and bolded... if u can help id much apreciate it. errrm on the preview my name was messed up so: The Forsaken One21:13, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Just a space missing between span and style, and the bold tags were in the wrong place (the three apostrophes), so '''[[User: The Forsaken One|<span style="color:navyblue"> The Forsaken</span>]][[User talk: The Forsaken One|<span style="color:navyblue"> One</span>]]''' gives The Forsaken One - is that what you wanted? --Snograt

[edit] What the hell?
Sheesh, can't a guy have a little wiki-break without having to come back and find the place has been taken over by the illiterati? Sysops, now is the time to stop the cicular discussions and policy puffery and DO something. This is the Official Wiki and, even though we're autonomous, I can imagine ANet being not particularly impressed with what they see going on in here.
