Foci, Shields and Equipment Bags (oh my!)[edit]

I took the liberty of posting your advice on the relevant articles, as Ive found it very useful; and Im sure there are many others who are frustrated by this and/or didnt know about "that trick". Thank You! ^_^ --Falconeye 22:54, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

You're welcome. I'm glad it was of use to you. However, both the bug and the trick have nothing specific to do with Equipment Bags — I encounter the issue and use the kludge even when starting a new mule in pre-searing. It's a general issue with the inventory screens: some people never see it unless they use kit bags, but anyone who cycles through the various inventory items in the display will see it.
So the bug and kludge ought to be listed under Inventory (maybe Inventory#Weapon swapping). (And it would be reasonable to point people there from the kit bag articles, Bug: blah blah problem *sometimes* when swapping; see etc for a work-around. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:49, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

henchie bars[edit]

I believe the citations you need are listed under external links, martin's guru post. but I cant get on guru at work. its also on the talk, but... 24.130.140.36 19:48, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. I was pretty sure I remembered the links being somewhere, but they really need to be inline, too (given the level of controversy). (Since you happen to have stopped by, I would appreciate it if you would double check that I didn't leave something important out. It also seems to me that there was a fourth type of criticism that wasn't in the article.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:51, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
You know, I thought it was pretty neutral the second time I rewrote that section... Guess not. (Or maybe I'm just being bitchy.)
Because I refuse to be less than perfect, I also will take a look at it when I have some time. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 21:44, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
Honestly, at the time, I thought your rewrite was pretty good. It's only looking at it now that I have the impression of a critic's point of view rather than a neutral one. Also, at the time, I suspect that any further rewriting would have generated more drama (and little positive discussion).
I still have trouble understanding how ANet took an easy public-relations win and turned it into a near-disaster. Well, scratch that. I have my suspicions. But, even before the contest winners were announced, it seemed obvious to me that they needed to define originality and viability better. In particular, they needed to explicitly state whether they were going to allow PvX-posted or obvious meta builds or not.
In any case, I think it probably needs another edit or two to cover the issues. My main goal in this edit was to separate background from criticism and response/defense...and to make it more about the facts (and less about ANet's failure to communicate). Someone who wasn't around then should be able to read it and go, I see why people got upset that ANet allowed a PvX build after asking for "originality". – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:57, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
looking over it, and wondering what "ibid" means? 24.130.140.36 21:12, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
ibid. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:17, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

This is me imposing![edit]

A broken wrist makes it hard for me to make my rating templates into one modular template. Inspiration strikes at odd times, or I'd have done it a while ago...

I'd really appreciate your help here.

-- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 14:55, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Sure. Lemme take a look. (And apologies for the slow reply... I have less time atm, so limiting my attention to GWiki.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:28, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
OK, there's something that should work for you. You can use I or 1 or Useless, depending on what makes sense. I don't think you'll have any trouble adjusting the colors as needed...and, if I did my job well, you also should be able to figure out how to drop a rating or add another.
Please don't hesitate to ping me again if I can help. (Although I hope that your wrist is well enough soon enough that it will be a mere favor.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:59, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks a ton, you've made my day :D -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 16:20, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
My pleasure. (PS Let us know if you and Daeddicus conquer WoC together.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:22, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
It occurs to me that the following might be useful for your bullets: {{User:TEF/Templates/Custom_bullet}}. Obviously, you can copy it to your user space and can adapt it to your customized rating system. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:33, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
I will look into that. On a related note, I have moved the guide to hard mode; please update your links. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 06:01, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Links are updated :-) (I know I'm a PITA about people's changing text in my user space, but maintenance edits are always ok; you shouldn't need my permission to update links, but you have it.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 06:55, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Editor of Purity[edit]

Cleansing the afflicted trivia and notes eh? What's next, removing the vandals and ips while claiming the admins are not what they used to be? :p Konig/talk 18:34, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

I figured that you would be the only one to get it... (I'm in favor of removing vandals, but I am happy with the work of our admins.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:38, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm actually surprised how well the relating went... Konig/talk 21:36, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

You never know, he may accept. Konig/talk 20:10, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
Each time I'm nominated, I carefully consider whether to accept or not. I'll post a decision before the deadline this weekend. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:09, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

I see your hint[edit]

And I get the origin, but I no get still. Konig/talk 19:37, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

You updated Nulfastu to remove a bullet you considered redundant. To be consistent, I also removed the parallel bullet from each of the other Notorious foe articles (and made the links in the quote-source consistent). So the edit summary was a silly way to let you know that I was following in your footsteps. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:53, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I thought you were trying to tell me to do something. :| Konig/talk 19:54, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Oh, no. I would have left you a note someplace. Normally, your follow-through is excellent, so there's rarely an opportunity to tease you about something like this. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:57, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Hmm that Your Suggestion Was.. template[edit]

a) you should mainspace it, it is a useful tool for IP's suggestions.
b) I added the {{subst: prefix to the usage section so if anyone does use it then it doesn't link to the template and cause server pains if you chose to update the template later. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 17:55, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Cool. You should feel free to mainspace anything in my user space(s) that you think might be generally useful to the community (which would also allow others to edit/update it as appropriate). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:59, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
