I was watching your archives 3, 1 and 4, but not 2. I just thought you might want to know that. Misery 12:40, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
Have I told you how much I love you, lately?
I think you should go add all 31 of my archives to your watchlist on GuildWiki. That way, even if you never lurk the RC, you can still watch and be amused as I leave non-descriptive lighthearted edit summaries while going on a mad dating frenzy. Though of course they can't compare to yours. Vili User talk:Vili 14:06, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
I found out poke doesn't even read my deletion reasons, philistine. I don't really lurk GWiki RC, infact being in the lab has sort of prevented me from lurking any RC at the moment, but with the heads up I was able to find and appreciate the spam. Misery 14:59, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

The point was that unless 72.90.35.213 is Pika Fan, that's impersonation, which even if not explicitly against any policy is editing in bad faith by trying to get him blocked for things he did not say (that is what I assume the motivation was). Vili User talk:Vili 07:19, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

When I asked Vili, we were running our balanced build with our guild, but one of our guildies had to go leaving us short 1 person. When I asked you I was guesting for not so good players. I would have asked you as well, but you weren't on.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 16:36, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
OMG I have to tell you guys this story...because I just remembered. So, the peeps I mentioned above with the "SF joke way lolz I was bored and Shard wasn't on" above deal? Its my friend's guild, and he's a great player, but the rest of his guild is either too new to the game, or just don't listen to improve. Anyway, I normally just pve with them because that's all I can tolerate...last night I raged on them in the Deep because the necro kept bipping in Chaos Storm...apperently 10/12 people thought it was ok to stand in Chaos Storm and cast spells. I was too angry to even screenshot it, but man I regret it now. Anyway...thats who runs SF, and I go because Shard and I think its hilarious and its something to amuse us until the guild team is on.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 16:46, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
See, the three main problems are...
  1. Don't have a mouse atm, targeting anything is difficult (laptop touchpad faaaails)
  2. Even in PvE, I can't monk; I just go Jesusway, and I avoid any skills that require me to click on party members to use, anyway. No Smiter's Boon for me. Part of the problem is that I don't have the keys to spare so I could bind, say, the numpad 1-8 to target party members. Again, laptop is fail for PvP.
  3. Even if PvE isn't srs bsns at all, I hate to stop in the middle of hour-long or more expeditions to go do uncertain PvP. So random invites are kinda iffy. If I know they might be coming at certain times, like with Misery's BYOB, that is useful...
On the plus side, I finally got Vent and TS. Lol. Though no mic yet... Vili User talk:Vili 21:09, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
I'm not random, I'm pretty. PvE is srs bsns...especially when you bip spam in chaos storm.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 22:11, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Chaos Storm spike is epic. We had a perma gather all thirtysomething Nightmares. Then we tried to micro Deep Freeze, Meteor Shower, and SH nukes to kill them off. But, we didn't change to melee weapons and so they all cast Chaos Storm instead of Spirit Shackles and we almost wiped. The next time, after he gathered the Nightmares he also pulled the Kanaxai aspect. And then the Necro threw on Reckless Haste and SS to the Aspect. The Nightmares died in a matter of seconds, and there were no deaths...
What do you have a BiP for in The Deep, anyway? Vili User talk:Vili 22:17, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
I have no idea...bad monks maybe? I wasn't monking like I do 95% of the time and as you know, I'm pro with emanagement and big prots so I never need a bip. Anyway, I logged on and got my usual barrage of "Yas wanna..." and I heard a buddy was doing the Deep. I like the Deep, I used to go with ZoS and it was a lot of fun and I needed something to do until we set up for our usual 7-8pm HA run start time.
But my god...last night I wanted to rip my hair out. Purge and Shard were yelling at me "rage! lets ha, gogogogogo" and laughing at me. The people in that guild group are nice as can be, but I guess I'm not loud enough or something...which is odd because Purge and I are very loud. I hate...especially when I monk...but more so when I ele, that people don't listen. We were in there almost 3 hours!!! I actually got mad, srs mad, which rarely happens except between Adrin and I...we get into it all the time, but thats what happens when you're married, you bicker during GvG.
I asked nicely, "everyone with a caster weapon unequip it please for this part". Did they do it? Nope. I pinged on each person still with a wand or staff. Did they do anything? Nope. I have a feeling that a.) they were deaf, or b.) they don't know what the words "caster weapon", "wand" or "staff" means. Pehaps me saying it that way and pinging on who had them wasn't explicit enough? Then I realised none of them knew what chaos storm did, especially after the Rit in the party said "omg its Life that heals us for 120!!"...so I explained because if you don't read your skill bar, I doubt you read what anything else does either. Then I hear "my energy is gone". Me: "Yes, thats chaos storm they cast it because...." I actually yelled "ok, if you want to have that cast on you, fine, but please so not stand by me" (I was on my ele). I watched the necro bip himself to death through the whole 3 hours...even before chaos storm. But actually watching him bip to death in like 20 purple swirls was one of the funniest gw moments I can think of. --*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 23:03, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

You knock it off.[edit]

User:Vili.
If you want to GvG, come BYOB with Mizz sometime. They totally half-ass their BYOB (yes, I srs bsns it when I BYOB, as I do in every form of PvP =x), so they can't really say they play to win. Playing like that won't teach you how to win GvG (it'll teach you how not to, though), but it's a good way to learn the basics. I guess you could equate playing like that to the RA version of GvG. Except you're playing against TA teams, so...
No one in Vent with a mic could (or tried to) call strat at all (with the exception of the one person who at least told us where the other team was splitting), neither monk had a mic (the other one wasn't on Vent at all, in fact), the split tactics were decent at best (credits to Misery for keeping them alive), and the positioning was ZOMGHORRIBLE (rangers on low ground and completely out of prot range getting rspiked? nothx). I missed a couple of spikes, too. =( Oh, and out of our four rangers, no one could dshot or savage shot anything reliably. Then there were the rangers with Caltrops. And a whole lot of general "We could be a lot better if we could only __________". What I mean to say is, it's an easy sort of thing to just dive into at that level, if you're so inclined. There will be no resentment at all for anything you believe that you could possibly do horribly wrong, though I can't say I expect horribly wrong-ness from you.
I'd actually enjoy playing with you (I've monked with you before, and I like you as a heal <3). I've never seen you play water ele, but I (like I said before you even started playing water ele, lol) think you'd be good at it. And I've always liked your axing better than the pugstar Shockaxes I get who don't know when to use Shock and can't land Bulls' worth a damn. You're not half as baed as you think you are.
I won't be on GW today (well, maybe, maybe for an hour or so around 5:00 PST), but when I am, it'd really nice to hear from you. We can go srs bsns sometime. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 16:06, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

I only know how to call tactics in a balanced configuration, so the best I could reliably do was to call when and how people were splitting. >_>Pika Fan 17:36, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Oh, and mizzles broke his mic or something and had to fix it.Pika Fan 17:39, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Someone needed to be telling people what to dshot (there were FOUR rangers!!!), I didn't see any key skills getting shut down. Someone needs to tell people where to go to handle splits when they can't do it themselves. And someone really needed to call spikes, or at least allocate pressure properly. No one called conditions or hexes (even though everyone had mtouch, anyway >.>), no one told anyone what they dshotted (except one guy who dshotted mtouch one time)... Basically, there was a strong lack of vent rage when people needed to be vent raged on. <3 User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 17:45, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

You didn't wonder why your prot wasn't talking at all? O.o User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 18:50, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
I would be protting, my dear, if I had monked at all. Scratch that, I thought you were referring to the time when I was protting while we were playing balanced. I didn't really pay attention to the monks because I was busy 1)running flags 2)coping with splits 3)supporting the offensive split.Pika Fan 19:37, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

My mic is working now >_>
The level is way low for reasons I don't understand, but apparently at +400% I am hearable. That was probably the worst BYOB we had organised. Btw Raine, you BYOB wrong <3
I know that was wrong, but I'll be less lazy and do it right eventually. I should probably write out how it works somewhere so people actually understand what they are doing before they play. Warwick knew where to be, but her mic never works ever so we were so doomed. I also don't mind running balancedish builds occasionally, I really don't care about the rating at all, call it Team Love with zero requirements except to not piss me off. Misery 20:58, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

I have every intention of playing BYOB, but ever since I signed up I haven't seen you or Misery online at all. Also see problems list in above section - playing any PvP is difficult at the moment; tbh I've been having trouble in some PvE. >.>
I'm better than the average PUG shmuck, but then again, who isn't? Everyone I know/have played with is better than typical PUG quality... it's not much of an accomplishment these days. :\ Yes, I'm a decent axe warrior, although I haven't played it again since they killed prage. You haven't seen me play water ele yet (which is strange), but I like the build a lot, and I've found it quite successful. Although I've swapped Weapon of Warding for Resilient Weapon sometimes, cause allies are dumb and wand sometimes. But tbh, that bar is weak without Glyph of Immolation and/or Steam, so I always feel like I'm relying on gimmicky skills.
It also sounds like you have atrociously bad Rangers. Even if you are throwing rupts at random, it's hard not to hit key skills now and then. Now, even though Ranger is my main, I'm not pro at it, although certainly I'm probably better than a pugstar. I can hit 1/4 second casts, when the foe is using them on recharge, and that's not bad at all. I like playing Melandru's Shot, and running off on my own to split/solo/whatever is what I do a lot in AB anyway, so... I guess I'd be alright there. :p But again, Rangers are loaded with OP broken skills, so...meh.
But anyway. Like most people here, I'm "better than average PUG". However, unlike the real players out there, I'm not willing to learn and improve upon my game. I opened obs yesterday for like...the third time ever. PvE is also a terrible place to hone your skills, in fact I would say it often worsens them. I have 60 FPS and a pretty good ping (well, compared to you, Raine), yet I can't hit 3/4 second casts reliably as a Mesmer, and I even miss 1-second casts sometimes. :( So I'm not serious about PvP at all. And I'm never going to be good or get better until that changes. Step One is to be humble, bow down, and admit that you might not be as good a player as you thought - but Step Two is to pick yourself up from there and go learn. I'm stuck there.
By the way, I refuse to play with Warwick, just so you're aware. </3 Vili User talk:Vili 21:09, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Tbh, pretty sure Warwick is going to rage the guild ^^ Misery 23:04, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Steam is pretty imba on its own; it automatically makes any build with any sort of burning like 300% better. bflash + 100 damage for 1/3 the cost? Yes plz. However, Freezing Gust is about as full of win as Gale (Gale does pwn a bit harder), minus exhaustion. And Shatterstone is lol. Plus, Glowing Ice doesn't have some wierdass conditional, and it's not a projectile. So more <3s for water eles. And I've been using Weapon of Shadow on my water ele bar (it's really not even fair) since I bought it to unlock it for my PvP flagger (Win Was Misery) a while back.
Being atrociously bad as a ranger boils down to spamming (with spammable interrupts, of course); it's as easy to avoid int spam when playing a caster as it is to hit skills used on recharge (lol Soothing Memories) when playing a ranger. I've been off the GvG scene for a while, so I don't really know how well 1k players are performing. For all I know, they weren't avoiding ints at all and it was really just a case of horrendous luck.
Rangers and water eles are supposed to be able to solo shit. I've watched one ele lolrape a war and ranger on a split, and completely destroy the enemy npcs on the same split (That was a rather exceptional ele, and there was probably a bit of luck involved. But still, water eles are srs bsns). And rangers are rangers, so... yeah. If you can't solo shit with either of those bars, urdoinitwrong. So, accordingly, your ability to solo shit is a positive indication. <3
I quarterlock in PvE when I war; there are a few things that PvE could help you improve on.
My ping has been decent all week since I've been off campus. It's also the end of the week, so /wave@that. Also, I find my ping is a lot better around... what? Midnight PST? One? It's never good enough for me to try to interrupt anything except by prediction (read: interrupting mtouch with Gale), though. Go figure.
I don't OBS much, usually only when my wonderful boyfriend tells me there's a good match. OBS will teach you builds, tactics, maps... but the only way to really lern2play is by playing. Preferably, playing with people who are better than you (also, not people who just think they're better; they've usually little to contribute, and more often than not, it isn't positive).
The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. People like Prufrock (1) don't get anything accomplished and (2) are unhappy (largely because of 1). If more Prufrocks just fucking did it, they'd be much happier (even if not immediately; rejection stings for a while). Though the concept isn't exactly parallel, they stem from the same idea, I'd say. Instead of berating yourself for being [[User:Auron/Inexperience|baed]], just go fucking do it. <3
My beloved Misery. It's BringYourOwnBuild, not BringYourOwnBuildAndDoWhateverTheBloodyHellYouWantWithIt. I've gone into BYOBs as a Ebon Dust Aura Dervish with Mystic Regen, Armor of Sanctity, Veil of Thorns, and Conviction, and won games like that (lol @ other split team); I have no problem whatesoever with people running whatever they want (even Caltrops; that was full of lolz). Even though the builds may not be the best, that's not an excuse to play them at anything less than the most they're capable of. I'm the kind of person that pings vent info for my randomway (not tabway, that's a different story), then takes them to Isle of the Nameless and practices spikes till we can get below 2s (yes, I know, I randomway wrong, too). Also, me not being a strong Vent presence was bad of me; I really shouldn't be monking with no mic. I'll be reunited with my mic tomorrow, though :D .
I'm not a godly player by any means. I miss spikes that, in retrospect, should've been obvious. I miss quarterlocks sometimes (day before yesterday, I even moved the wrong way and couldn't land Hammer Bash at all. That's just terrible), when they're loleasy after getting used to. When I land Bull's on axe (or derv), I don't move around to bodyblock runners. I have trust issues with heal monks (no offense, I just feel like I have to prot everything), so I spend too much energy, while my heal sits at full. I don't kite enough as an ele. I don't heal enough as a flagger, and I'm way too willing to stop running flags to support splits or stop ganks. When I play heal, I don't heal (I wait for my heal monk to do it, lmao), though I use Gift a lot as a prot. I RoF too much. I miss Bull's way too often, and I don't run intercepts enough; I tabspace. I use Gale way more than is necessary. I don't pre-Veil mid-engagement. I don't always weapon swap for casts (10% HCT on shield set, anyone?). I've even died on my high set a couple of times. :( My positioning isn't lolawesome, especially when I frontline. I miss interrupts (I blame my ping). There are plenty of things I need to work on, love; you're not alone in that. So let's get better, yeah? User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 16:05, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
What is up with the walls of text... My comments about you BYOBing wrong largely stem from the comments about having two monks and a flagger. There is no flagger in BYOB, everyone is a flagger, it's about being in the right place at the right time. You almost never run two monks and if you do, they are not heal prot because they need to be able to operate independently. You should ideally only have to run a flag once and then their flagger should never have an opportunity without being ganked ever again. You only run monk because everyone should have enough self healing/smarts to keep themselves alive, the monks job is not to turtle against the entire enemy offence (although they should be capable of doing that temporarily). Monking for BYOB is kind of like monking for bloodspike, it's harder to find a BYOB on obs these days, but try and find a bloodspike and see what the monk does there, then watch the entire BSpike team collapse on their offence when they are separated from their healing. BYOB is offensive, you split up their offence and defence, wipe the offence isolated from the monks then lord it thanks to your superior mobility. If you are an offensive char and there are two monks where you are, you are doing it wrong. Generally you split up in twos, threes and ones, it is not a 4:4 split with quirky builds, it's BYOB. It's just a little hard to organise when no one knows what is going on and people who do understand have no mic ^^ Misery 18:20, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
I've always played BYOB with balanced-esque tactics, tbh; you'll have to lern me 2 gankway. ^^ <3 User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 18:36, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Just wondering[edit]

"I just tested this with some Oni on Shing Jea. I let it cast Scorpion Wire on me, then I cast Scorpion Wire on it. I ran away, and then when Wire triggered, it was mine and not the Oni's - it got knocked down and I was still hexed with Scorpion Wire. So perhaps it matters who casts it last, or it is random. Also I am pretty sure only I shadow stepped, and it was the full "100 feet", although this is a bit hard to tell from the first-person. Vili User talk:Vili 11:14, 14 February 2009 (UTC) "
Where you at the same attribute level as the Oni? Might have something to do with it. (Month and a half off ftw!) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:PvX:Goodnight LA (talk).

Why would that matter? The distance doesn't scale with attribute, and like I said I was still hexed so his didn't expire or anything. I've never heard of competing effects to be determined based on who had higher attribute rank (except for casting a hex/enchant/whatever on the same target, but this is different). You should get Nvidia to code proper Drivers instead of getting ArenaNet to adapt their Game to shitty drivers of some shitty Manufacturer --SilentStorm Talk to me 03:00, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Or, you know, ANet could make their game fit the standards of the biggest graphics card manufacturer in the world just like every other game company, since GW is the only game anyone has this problem with. Just a thought. --71.229.253.172 03:14, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
@SilentStorm: Agreed, Nvidia may have the power-houses of video cards, but they are under poor management. Nvidia cards have a reputation for poor drivers and shotty manufacturing. I'm expecting to see ATI Storming the castle and taking the performance crown from Nvidia. This is NOT the only game with Nvidia driver problems. A friend of mine owned a 795X2 (before it died on him a year later) and ran into ALL KINDS of problems similar to this. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 03:37, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Hey, I've not got any complaints about NVIDIA or ANet... the two just don't go well together. They are otherwise fine. I am at least glad I don't get that annoying bug where the grass flashes red anymore!
My card is an NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M; if it helps any, it is in PCI Slot 1 (PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0). So I don't think I am getting "that particular bug" with "that certain card", especially as I've never had instances where I can't access certain locations or whatever. I can go anywhere in the game, even Eye of the North which is supposedly the most demanding resource-wise, and the problem rate is about the same. Vili >8< User talk:Vili 05:46, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
I didn't imply any of those. I was just saying you should contact Nvidia Support (if they have such things) and demand them to create proper Drivers. --SilentStorm Talk to me 10:13, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
@IP: Yeah sure... since when does Game Developers code their Games to perform well with certain GFX Cards? Thats what crap companies like EA do and what they get paid for by Nvidia resulting in a crappy arrogant Green Logo beeing displayed in the Game. Thats what Graphic Standards are for. Game Developers code according to those and Hardware Manufacturers make sure that their Drivers work according to those Standards. But of course Nvidia is too holy to even remotely think about it and just do their own shit which results in Nightmares such as we just recently saw with GTA IV where a game refuses to start at all if you dont have an Nvidia Card and even if you do there are some problems. And where good Manufacturers are forced to code certain Subroutines into their Drivers to correctly perform the Shit some holy Manufacturer/shitty Game Developer (EA) put it in in an exotic way, instead of the game Developer to create correct code and some shitty Manufacturer to create proper Drivers. Like JonLupen already said Nvidia is renowned for creating shitty Drivers and should really lrn2code. Period. --SilentStorm Talk to me 10:13, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
You're arguing the way things should be vs. the way things are. I doubt Nvidia's going to change anytime soon, so what good does that do us? --71.229.253.172 10:45, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Competition. Look at what we got from Intel after AMD was mopping the floor with them for quite some time. Have a look at how ATI is on a rebound, set and poised to punce on Nvidia and take their crown. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 12:51, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
And then ATI can fuck it up again and we all get to go on the merry-go-fuck-you that is capitalism, yay! Misery
I had ATI on my old comp, before Adrin built this one for me. I think the ATI card is on our third comp, the one we call "the slave". I only get this with GW...it never happens when I'm playing NWN or SC or even the Sims 2. Sometimes I will get what I think is a lag spike, the screen will go black and minimize, then go back to normal. That will happen a few times, telling me "blurry vision" might start soon. I got a driver update yesterday and didn't have any problems, but then again, it doesn't happen daily...only when we're on courtyard or relic runs!--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 16:25, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
I'm still under warranty on my laptop, so I have been making tech support replace shit till it's fixed. I'm on my 4th graphics card, I wonder how long it will take them to catch on and realise putting the same card in won't fix the problem. I've done pretty extensive testing, a fresh install with Vista, SP1 and fresh drivers (and fresh heat sink, 3d card and motherboard) increased the average time to crash from about an hour, hour and a half to four hours. Still not good enough imo. As a side note, GW does have unique problems (the blurry fuzzy nightmare), but problems do manifest in other games such a black screens for a few seconds and massive loss of FPS. I've noticed minor problems with L4D and pretty crippling FPS loss in Warhammer Online. Misery 16:35, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
I'm running an ATI Crossfire set-up and the only problems I've run into have been in the game or two that was built for Nvidia cards and the company didn't teach it to play nice with both companies. BTW, Nvidia notebook video cards are all a POS, avoid them like the plague. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 20:58, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

I saw The Matrix when I was like 8, so I've been disillusioned from the whole ratings-system ever since. (Heck, some of the Pokemon Movies were more traumatic.) Because not everyone can be 18, dearie. <3 Also, why does no one get that reference? Sure it was a terrible movie, but like any pop culture, it had its few gems to take away... Vili >8< User talk:Vili 09:21, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
I know the line, but not where it's from. I'm terrible like that. I used to tell people a story, somewhat of a parable, which my mother told me. Years later I found out it was Shakespeare. When I was younger everyone was like ooooo, that's nice, then I got older people were like... Yes... I know that story... It's Shakespeare... HOLY FUCK LOOK AT ME RAMBLE I AM OLD! Misery 09:23, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Obtw Vili, Matrix was released 1999 which means you are like 18 at the oldest =/ Misery 09:28, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

y so pessimistic? Rambling is just another way to say WoT, and we all know WoTs are cool. So is Shakespeare. Actually, they recently found what they think is a new portrait of him. And he's a sexy beast, too. ;) Storytelling is also a super pro party and parlour trick. It doesn't take much from there to degenerate ascend to comedy routines. I think humour is a cool trait. eh makes poeple laugh and doesn't afraid of anything. It's a great icebreaker, and so on and so forth... if people remember nothing else, they'll remember that you are funny. And there's "fun" in "funny". Everyone likes a fun guy, no matter his spore count.
Oh hey, I'm "rambling" too. But I know I'm not old. An old hand, sure, but not old. Old is a retarded status btw, rarely works on monsters (well, most never do in any game, why is that?), makes Weakness look weak in comparison, etc etc...
Also, you're both older than me. I'm 18. Cross my heart and hope to diaf. Vili >8< User talk:Vili 09:41, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Then you're most certainly not old. How many old people d'you know that are ever "down with life"? Old people can be angry, bitter, etc, etc, but "down with life"? That's a young trait, if there are any. <3 User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 09:58, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Yo dawg, we herd you like to birthday, so we put a cake in yo cake, so you can birthday while you birthday. I also have trouble believing you could be younger than me. That has disturbing implications from many angles, least of all legally.
Mis, yesterday I accidentally the whole glass while going down on Life. I don't think it gets much lower than that. But feel free to elaborate. Are you sitting on a park bench? Vili >8< User talk:Vili 10:03, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
