War in Kryta Dialogues[edit]

Unless otherwise specified, all of these dialogues occur in the Shining Blade camp in the Talmark Wilderness

Dialogue 1 - A Grim Report[edit]

Introduced with the April 08, 2010 update
Shining Blade Scout: "Your Highness! Your Highness!"
Shining Blade Scout: "Forgive me, but I have urgent news".
Princess Salma: "Someone get this man some water! Please, catch your breath and tell me this urgent news".
Shining Blade Scout: "Brigands hit Nebo Terrace again last night".
Princess Salma: "Casualties?"
Shining Blade Scout: "Sadly, yes, just one: the artisan's wife".
Princess Salma: "Oh no, not Nora. Poor Etham must be devastated. They just had their second child. A girl, I believe".
Princess Salma: "Thank you, Scout. And would you mind delivering a letter to the Elder of Nebo Terrace? Once you've rested and had a hot meal, of course".
Shining Blade Scout: "It would be a pleasure, my lady".

Dialogue 2 - Search for Allies[edit]

Introduced with the April 15, 2010 update

*Master Scout Braden is talking with a Shining Blade Scout, then heads to Salma and the others*

Master Scout Braden: "Your Highness, I have just received reports of additional bandit attacks."
Princess Salma: "Where have they struck? Is there anything we can do to assist the settlement that were attacked?."
Master Scout Braden: "Beetletun was hit last night and the Ascalon settlement in the early morning."
Bartholos: "We must send soldiers to protect these villages. We cannot sit idly by while the White Mantle's "Peacekeepers" run rampant through Kryta!"
Evennia: "Marching Shining Blade troops into these villages would be a grave mistake. The Mantle would simply point to our presence as proof of the villagers' treason and burn their homes to the ground once we left!"
Princess Salma: "Evennia speaks the truth. As much as it pains me to avoid battle, we are not ready for a direct confrontation with the Mantle. We must continue to lend aid to the citizens of Kryta, but with discretion."
Bartholos: "I do not like watching as my countrymen suffer at the hands of these vermin, but I will do as you advise."
Princess Salma: "Have patience, Bartholos. The time will come when we can step from the shadows to face the Mantle directly."
Princess Salma: "Until then, we must build our strength and strike at our enemies with stealth and audacity."
Bartholos: "Yes, Your Highness. Gods willing, that day will come soon, but there must be something more that we can do now to help our people."

(You must be present within the camp to continue the dialogue beyond this point.)

Livia: "There is. There is always more that can be done."
Evennia: "Have you a suggestion, Livia? Or is that statement merely philosophical?"
Livia: "We have many allies, yet few do I see here. Send out the call that Kryta is in her hour of need. It is time to find out who is truly our ally in actions as well as words."
Evennia: "Now that is a suggestion and I agree. It is time, your Highness."
Princess Salma: "Agreed. Then the question becomes, who do we send and where do we send them?"
Evennia: "The Dwarves are in no position to give us aide[sic] and Ascalon is still under siege."
Bartholos: "Not to mention Adlebern's[sic] abject hatred of anything Krytan. But, there are the asura to the south and the Ebon Vanguard in the far north. We have allies among both."
Princess Salma: "Asuran magic and the Ebon Vanguard's tactical skills behind enemy lines are renowned throughout Tyria. Their assistance could tip the scales in our favor."
Princess Salma: "Livia, you have much experience with the asura, if I remember correctly. You will make for Rata Sum with haste."
Princess Salma: "Evennia, you have enjoyed a fruitful relationship with the Ascalonians in the past. Perhaps the Ebon Vanguard will be more receptive to our cause than King Adlebern[sic]."
Evennia: "The Asura Gate beneath Lion's Arch leads right to the Eye of the North. A boat from Fisherman's Haven should allow me to travel there without attracting the attention of the Mantle."
Princess Salma: "Good luck to you both. May Dwayna protect you on your journey."

*Braden returns to his place, Evennia and Livia leave to the Tears of the Fallen exit*

Dialogue 3 - New Recruits[edit]

Introduced with the April 15, 2010 update
In order to view this dialogue, it is advised to not watch the Trial of Zinn until after this dialogue is witnessed, as watching the trial will trigger Dialogue 4.
Shining Blade Scout: "Sir, the latest batch of recruits has arrived and they await your orders."
Gareth Quickblade: "Have they been adequately screened? We cannot risk spies infiltrating the camp."
Shining Blade Scout: "Two of them are brothers from Shaemoor who check out. Another is a widow who is acting far too angry at the Mantle to be faking it..."
Gareth Quickblade: "Any others?"
Shining Blade Scout: "Yes, one, but uhh... well.."
Saphir: "Out with it, soldier!"
Shining Blade Scout: "He was a member of the White Mantle. He claims he was banished when he refused to assist with sacrificing the Chosen."
Shining Blade Scout: "His story checked out with our spies within the White Mantle..."
Gareth Quickblade: "Bring the brothers and the widow into the camp. Turn the other away. We simply cannot risk having former Mantle within our ranks."
Saphir: "Don't be so hasty, Gareth. Half of our recruits once served the Mantle in some capacity. We cannot hope to win this war if we turn down willing soldiers."
Gareth Quickblade: "Very well, Saphir, but I expect you to take personal responsibility for his conduct."
Saphir: "And the second I see him acting suspicious I will personally send him to the bottom of the Sea of Sorrows."
Gareth Quickblade: "Very well. Lead the recruits to the training yard for orientation with Sorim."

*Recruits go to Sorim, then begin flexing and doing various other emotes for him near the training area*

Dialogue 4 - Livia Recruits Zinn[edit]

Introduced with the May 06, 2010 update
Must have witnessed the Trial of Zinn in order to see this dialogue

*Livia, Zinn, Blimm and G.O.X. are at the gate. Livia, Zinn and Blimm walk to Salma and Bartholos*

Bartholos: "Back so soon, Livia? I don't see how you could have been to Rata Sum already, and yet you've brought some..."
Livia: "Prisoners. These three were sulking around in the wilderness."
Princess Salma: "Prisoners? I asked you to form an alliance with the asura."
Livia: "You asked me to use my expertise with the asura. An army of these creatures would be nothing but trouble. No, these two are exactly what we need: talented golemancers, the famous Zinn and his partner Blimm."
Bartholos: "Did you say Zinn!? Creator of R.O.X.? Livia, this asura was responsible for an assassination attempt against the Princess!"
Blimm: "Great, another trial. Come let's be partners, he said. He didn't mention more trials. Didn't mention anything like that."
Livia: "Quiet. There'll be no trial. You're not here to be punished or judged. You're here to help us."
Zinn: "Aha! Your precipitous actions become clear. I am the preeminent golemancer of this or any time, and Blimm - conversationally-challenged though he might be - is quite the savant himself."
Zinn: "Who here is authorized to negotiate terms for our services?"
Livia: "This isn't a negotiation. The terms are that I let you live."
Zinn: "Are you threatening us?"
Livia: "It's not a threat. It's reality. You're either our ally or our enemy. There's no middle ground."
Livia: "Besides, you'll enjoy this project. We need a weapon to defeat the Mursaat. The magic they perform is beyond anything humans have even imagined."
Zinn: "Intriguing. Possibly worthy of my talents. I may take on this project, but not because of your threats. Because it is interesting."
Livia: "Just so long as you do it.[sic]Alari, show our guests to a spot where they can settle in. If they make any sudden moves, kill them."

(You must be present within the camp to continue the dialogue beyond this point.) *Alari walks over to Zinn and Blimm and escorts them to a nearby tent*

Princess Salma: "I am not certain I approve of your methods Livia, but I see the wisdom in this plan. Still, whatever experiments must be carried out, they cannot be here."
Princess Salma: "I remember what you told me about asuran experiments. Should the commotion draw attention, it would lead the Mantle right to our main force."
Livia: "No, of course not. That is why you will be a great queen. That is why the people will love you. Leave the dirty work to me."
Livia: "Bartolos[sic], are the people near Shaemoor still loyal to our cause? We could establish a laboratory near the old crypts, along those back paths we took when we raided Mantle patrols."
Bartholos: "Yes, good idea. You'd be isolated enough for safety, and the locals could be counted on to keep the White Mantle from finding you. We have many friends there."
Livia: "ZINN! BLIMM! New plan. We're on the move again. We're building you a laboratory where you won't have any distractions."
Zinn: "Excellent. The best workshops are away from all the rabble. A genius needs his space."
Blimm: "Finally, a place to have a lab... a proper lab of my own. Our own. My own."

*Alari returns to her place, Livia, Zinn, Blimm and G.O.X. walk to Ember Whisperwind. Livia then points across the water and beckons her group to follow, they then disappear*

Dialogue 5 - Evennia Recruits the Ebon Vanguard[edit]

Introduced with the May 06, 2010 update
This dialogue occurs just outside the Eye of the North in the Ice Cliff Chasms
Must have finished Lieutenant Thackeray's scavenger hunt and witnessed his subsequent dialogue with Gwen, in addition to Dialogue 2, in order to see this dialogue

*Evennia, Captain Langmar, Gwen, Lieutenant Thackeray, Artificer Mullenix, Casey Carpenter, and Sergeant Weststar are standing before the entrance into the Eye of the North*

Evennia: "Hail Langmar, Captain of the Ebon Vanguard!"
Captain Langmar: "Evennia of the Shining Blade. What brings you to the Eye of the North, so far from your warm, sandy Kryta?"
Evennia: "I won't waste time beating around the bush. I've come to ask for your help."
Evennia: "The White Mantle's numbers may have dwindled, but they make up for it with increased brutality, while Princess Salma's support among the people grows ever stronger."
Evennia: "But now, the Mantle have taken to hiring thugs from the outlands and beyond to terrorize us, all done with the flimsy excuse of keeping order and peace. Each day brings new indignity and suffering to my people."
Evennia: "The Shining Blade and Ebon Vanguard have enjoyed a fruitful friendship before; please, Kryta beseeches you, aid us!"
Gwen: "The charr keep our hands full, Krytan. You think we'll abandon all that we've bled for and march down to Kryta, just to bail you out?"
Evennia: "The only thing I expect girl, is that the Vanguard would express gratitude after Kryta took in so many Ascalonion refugees!"
Captain Langmar: "Gwen has a valid point, Evennia. Ascalon needs the Vanguard here in the Shiverpeaks. However, we have no love for the White Mantle... should we agree, what is Princess Salma prepared to do for Ascalon?"
Evennia: "Princess Salma has authorized me to reciprocate your offer. Should Ascalon's troops join us in taking back our country from these tyrants, then Kryta will assist in driving the charr from your lands for good."
Captain Langmar: "Very well. I accept on behalf of the Ebon Vanguard, but we're not done. King Adelbern must also approve."
Evennia: "Kryta is drowning! She needs your help now, not after months of dithering with Adelbern. You know he distrusts all things Krytan! I was hoping you would be more reasonable."
Captain Langmar: "Ascalon can no longer afford to pick and choose her allies as the charr continue devastating all we hold dear. Remind King Adelbern of our need for allies in the coming conflicts and he will do the right thing."
Evennia: "Please, I implore you, do not force such a delay. Is there no way I could convince you to help us sooner?"
Captain Langmar: "I could, perhaps, send a single elite Ebon Vanguard unit to train your peasants to fight and conduct critical missions throughout the region while you garner the King's blessing for a larger force."
Evennia: "I'm still skeptical, but if that's the nature of your support, so be it. These "elite" better be good...
Evennia: "If you supply me with rations for the trip, I could leave immediately for Ascalon City and gain audience with King Adelbern. Princess Salma plans to retake control of Lion's Arch within the fortnight. I hope your men can be there by then.
Captain Langmar: "More than enough time to prepare and the travel is instant by the Asura Gate."

*Evennia leaves to the Eye of the North*

Captain Langmar: "Well, that's settled. Now, who's going to assist the Krytans against the White Mantle?"
Lieutenant Thackeray: "I'll go."
Gwen: "WHAT?! Captain, please, I really must insist that this is a bad idea."
Lieutenant Thackeray: "The Ebon Falcons will go to Kryta. We can train the Shining Blade recruits on hit-and-run tactics, ambush techniques, tracking... tricks that we've picked up fighting the charr over the years."
Gwen: "Captain, surely we need Keir- uh, Lieutenant Thackeray here in the Shiverpeaks. His unit is the cornerstone of our operation!"
Captain Langmar: "Are you sure about this, Lieutenant?"
Lieutenant Thackeray: "Absolutely. I wouldn't mind a little sun. Besides... there's nothing to keep me here. It's been quieter lately and I'm a soldier. I go where the fight is."
Gwen: "The fight is here! The Ebon Falcons are needed here! Why not send Weststar, or Nye's unit?"
Captain Langmar: "You are right Gwen, they are our most successful... and I promised Evennia our elite. We can afford to pull a single company from patrol rotation, even if it is the Ebon Falcons."
Gwen: "Captain Langmar, I must protest. If you're not going to trust my judgment on these matters -"
Captain Langmar: "On the contrary, Gwen. I trust your judgement implicitly, which is why I'm leaving you here in command of the Vanguard while I travel to Kryta with Lieutenant Thackeray's men."
Gwen: "Wh-what?! But..."
Captain Langmar: "I'm the best at training people with no military background and the Falcons would be far more valuable conducting special operations than training peasants."
Captain Langmar: "Besides, I want Salma to see that I am serious about this alliance. Take good care of my Vanguard while I'm gone, Gwen. You know what to do."

*Captain Langmar leaves to the Eye of the North with Artificer Mullenix, Casey Carpenter, and Sergeant Weststar*

Gwen: "Lieutenant... Keiran..."
Lieutenant Thackeray: "Yes? Something you want to say to me, Gwen?"
Gwen: "Uhh... no. No."
Lieutenant Thackeray: "I didn't think so. Goodbye, Gwen."

*Lieutenant Thackeray leaves to the Eye of the North. Gwen stays, smacks her head (doh!), pouts, and cries, before heading back into the Eye of the North, as well.*

Dialogue 6 - Captain Langmar Arrives in Lion's Arch[edit]

Introduced with the May 14, 2010 update
This dialogue occurs in the Lion's Arch Keep
Must have witnessed Dialogue 5 in order to see this dialogue
Captain Langmar: "Captain Langmar and Lieutenant Thackeray, at your service."
Princess Salma: "Welcome to Kryta, dear friends. We are overjoyed with the Ebon Vanguard's assistance. Was it just the two of you then?"
Lieutenant Thackeray: "My unit waits outside, eager to find the action."
Councilor Vaylor: "Ascalon sends a single unit and calls that aid? Where is Evennia? Obviously she failed to clarify Kryta's needs, your highness."
Captain Langmar: "Ascalon has sent no one, yet. As I told Evennia, it is not the Ebon Vanguard's place to formalize such an alliance. She now travels to Ascalon to seek audience with King Adelbern. He decides where to send Ascalon's troops."
Princess Salma: "And yet here you are, Captain. Aren't you and your men Ascalon's troops?"
Captain Langmar: "Correct, Highness! We are on leave."
Captain Langmar: "In conflicts such as these, speed is paramount. We are consultants to give Ascalon enough time to carefully consider her involvement."
Captain Langmar: "I have faith that Evennia's strong persuasive skills and the promise of support in our war against the Charr will sway King Adelbern in Kryta's favor."
Captain Langmar: "Until Ascalon joins in full force, you have our knowledge at your disposal."
Princess Salma: "I see. Then we accept your council for now, but hope that King Adelbern doesn't take too long to commit to alliance. Kryta will need more than this to win the war against her oppressors."
Captain Langmar: "I share your sentiment, Highness. I'd hate to place my faith in error. Just being here is a risk."
Princess Salma: "I understand completely, Captain. Kryta thanks you for any assistance you might give her."

*Captain Langmar and Lieutenant Thackeray bow to Princess Salma and then leave to Lion's Arch*

Dialogue 7 - Mantle on the Move[edit]

Introduced with the July 08, 2010 update
This dialogue occurs in the Lion's Arch Keep
Must have completed the Temple of the Intolerable quest in order to see this dialogue

*Dinas enters the Lion's Arch Keep and runs towards Princess Salma*

Dinas: "Your Highness! Your Highness!"
Councilor Vaylor: "Great bloody Balthazar! Dinas! What are you doing here?"
Dinas: "I have urgent news. Your Highness, please hear me!"
Princess Salma: "Of course! Catch your breath and then tell me this urgent news."
Dinas: "I've come straight from Demetra and things are far worse than I had expected."
Dinas: "While you have busied yourself with taking out smaller targets, the Mantle has been quietly filtering troops to Demetra where the true leadership is stationed."
Dinas: "Now that Willem, Koril, and Aily have been defeated, the remaining Mursaat are determined to end this conflict."
Dinas: "As we speak, they prepare to march for Lion's Arch with all the men they have mustered. Their intention is to kill you, Princess."
Councilor Vaylor: "Sweet Dwayna, we do not have the troops here to repel that kind of an attack! Highness, you must send word to Bartholos at once. We will need every able-bodied soul from the Dakutu Camp to defend Lion's Arch."
Princess Salma: "Agreed. We must also get word to Livia and hope that these Asuran geniuses of hers have held up their end of the bargain."
Princess Salma: "Dinas, thank you for risking your life to bring us this news. With this, your work within the White Mantle is complete. Kryta thanks you for your tireless service."
Dinas: "I am grateful to serve my Queen and my country. I will remain here should you have need of me again."
Princess Salma: "Thank you. I am sure we will have questions for you about the Mantle's defenses soon."

*Dinas walks away and sits at the bottom of the stairs*

Dialogue 8 - Bartholos Reports to Salma[edit]

Introduced with the July 08, 2010 update

Dialogue 9 - Victory![edit]

Introduced with the July 08, 2010 update
This dialogue occurs in Lion's Arch (War in Kryta)
Princess Salma: "People of Kryta."
Princess Salma: "I stand before you at both the dawn of a new age of prosperity and a return to the traditions of our ancestors. Our enemies have been dismantled, and all our years of suffering and oppression are finally over."
Princess Salma: "It will take continued vigilance and courage to restore peace to the whole of Kryta, but we shall face our challenges as a united people."
Princess Salma: "We thank the Lionguard for their unwavering support of the people of Kryta. They shall continue, under the command of Firstwatch Sergio, in service to the city of Lion's Arch."
Princess Salma: "We thank the Shining Blade. They have been our truest companions and have proved themselves to be the true defenders of Kryta."
Princess Salma: "Guided now by our loyal servant Livia, the Shining Blade will continue to serve Kryta, not as a rebel group nor as a militia, nor even as an army, but shall henceforth serve as the royal guard for all kings and queens of Kryta."
Princess Salma: "Most of all, we thank the people of Kryta, who have endured so much with such great dignity. All across Tyria, free people sing the praises of the common Krytan, and I join them in their chorus."
Princess Salma: "This conflict has been a difficult one, pitting brother against brother, and neighbor against neighbor. Not all who fought against us were motivated by evil, for some were deceived by the lies or cowed by the threats of the White Mantle."
Princess Salma: "In the spirit of the new, reborn Kryta, it is time to put those dark days behind us. Now is the time for rebuilding, not retribution. Now is the time for forgiveness, not vengeance. Let us all face this new era together, without hate in our hearts."
Princess Salma: "In that spirit, we hereby announce the formation of a new army for the defense of the whole of Kryta and for all humans who call Kryta their home."
Princess Salma: "Honoring the winged goddess who protected us in our final battle against the fiends who had usurped our kingdom, this new group will be called the Seraph, and the valiant Bartholos shall be their commander."
Princess Salma: "In this new army, common citizens and former members of the White Mantle and Shining Blade will serve side-by-side. You will know the Seraph by the wings that adorn their helms and shields, and by their resolute defense of our land. They shall be the protectors of Kryta."
Princess Salma: "Know this, my countrymen: never again will we stand by while another Krytan suffers!"
Princess Salma: "Never again shall we allow inhuman evil to fester and grow amongst us!"
Princess Salma: "Never again will Krytans turn their back on their heritage and their gods!"
Princess Salma: "Let a new age dawn, an age of justice and peace for all Krytans!"

Dialogue 10 - Fate Of Langmar and Thackeray[edit]

Introduced with the July 15, 2010 update
This dialogue occurs in Lion's Arch (War in Kryta)
Lawrence Crafton: "Captain Greywind!"
Nola Sheppard: "Are you alright? You're bleeding! What happened to the settlers?"
Captain Greywind: "I'm fine, it's nothing serious. We had to divert east through Scoundrel's Rise and enter through Lion's Gate to avoid the White Mantle army."
Koro Sagewind: "Did everyone make it here safely? Where are the Captain and Lieutenant Thackeray?"
Captain Greywind: "We found the missing family and escorted them here safely, but... Langmar and Thackeray stayed back to buy us time to escape. The last time I saw them they were leading the White Mantle army from us. Have they not arrived here yet?"
Lawrence Crafton: "No, we expected them to come in with you! You said they stayed behind to divert the White Mantle army? Just the two of them?"
Captain Greywind: "Yes."
Dian Fermati: "You just left them there?! What in Balthazar's blazes were you thinking?"
Lawrence Crafton: "He was thinking about the people of the settlement, Dian. He's their leader and he needs to survive if they are going to rebuild. I'm sure Captain Langmar realized this as well and sent him ahead for that reason."
Captain Greywind: "You know your Captain well. That's what she told me when I protested her decision."
Dian Fermati: "But... but that means..."
Nola Sheppard: "No... they couldn't have been..."
Koro Sagewind: "Stop. Don't even finish that sentence. If there's anyone who could have survived those odds, it's Langmar and Thackeray. Instead of worrying about what might have happened, we should be putting together a search party."
Lawrence Crafton: "Koro's right. We'll split up and cover the paths they could have taken to Lion's Arch. Nola and Dian, you two should head out of the Lion's Gate and work your way back west towards the settlement, retracting Captain Greywind's steps. Rigo and I will-"
Lawrence Crafton: "Rigo, get over here!"
Rigo Bolan: "Yes, Sergeant?"
Lawrence Crafton: "Rigo, you and I will head through North Kryta Province and see if we can find them along that path. Koro, you stay here and treat Captain Greywind's wounds, then see if you can get the Queen to lend us some strong swimmers to help search Lesser Giant's Basin."
Koro Sagewind: "You don't think they-"
Lawrence Crafton: "Until they turn up, anything is possible. We must search the water as well as the land."
Captain Greywind: "I will join you in the search. This is my responsibility, too."
Lawrence Crafton: "But-"
Captain Greywind: "I won't take no for an answer, Sergeant. You're not going to defy a superior's orders, are you?"
Lawrence Crafton: "No, sir. And thank you. But let Koro treat you first."
Dian Fermati: "You'd better still be alive out there Captain..."
Nola Sheppard: "Lieutenant Thackeray..."

Dialogue 11 - Old Men Prattle[edit]

Introduced with the July 15, 2010 update
This dialogue occurs in Lion's Arch (War in Kryta)
Jorith: "Well, I guess that's the end of the White Mantle. I was expecting a little more fight out of them m'self."
Antwyn: "Hah? These young'ns call this a final battle? Back in my day, we didn't have these newfangled Asuran magics to protect us from Spectral Agony. We just had to tough it out. Kids these days don't know how good they've got it!"
Jorith: "I remember the day you had to walk fifteen miles uphill in the Shiverpeaks, then kill a spectral abomination just to get one piece of armor infused! And we liked it that way!"
Carden: "That's nothing! You wouldn't be sitting here if me and my two buddies hadn't killed the Lich Lord twice while he was on the bloodstone. And we did it without help from any fancy pants heroes."
Antwyn: "Have you got mud for brains? That was us!"
