[edit] Walkthrough
The first steps should lead the player directly towards the first shrine of Zunraa. Zunraa is very helpful in dealing with the miasma effect, therefore try to have it with you whenever possible. However Zunraa can be revived at all shrines, so there is no need to backtrack to the last shrine if the next one is just ahead. Only one player needs to activate a shrine. The biggest danger in this mission is the high health degeneration caused from entering the miasma, as well as the Afflicted Soul Explosion. Healers can easily get overwhelmed. Try to lure groups away from the miasma to fight them or rush through the miasma and fight on the other side if luring does not work. If affected by miasma, stay apart from the rest of the group to keep from spreading the infection.
After the second shrine of Zunraa, the mission path splits. It is possible to either go North or South. Generally, going North will be faster. Close to the end, the players face the two bosses Afflicted Yijo and Afflicted Farmer Xeng Jo. Don't let Yijo's Spirit Rift hit you while being balled up on the bridge. The last boss, The Afflicted Kana, should pose fewer problems. The miasma here in no way affects player health, so you may enter it freely. However, it is better to lure his mob out, otherwise your henchmen/heroes may find their ranged attacks blocked by the steps leading up to the temple. Attack the ritualist first, although he sometimes hides behind barriers, again causing problems at range.
[edit] Master's Reward
Like most Factions bonuses, there is no inherent difference between doing the normal mission and Master's. Groups going for Master's should take the northern path since it is faster.
[edit] Skill recommendations
- At least some form of interruption, since Yijo's Spirit Rift can be fatal for lower-level parties if not interrupted. Paying attention and flagging the henchmen away also helps.
- If you have it, Pain Inverter can effectively turn Yijo's Spirit Rift against him, although you risk losing one or more party members in the process.

[edit] Dialogue
[edit] Opening Cinematic
- Master Togo: "I'm glad you have come."
- <party leader>: "What was that?"
- Master Togo: "I do not know. But let us hope that whatever made that sound did not suffer long."
- "Be on your guard. Who knows what foul things we may find inside."
- <party leader>: "They look just like Minister Cho."
- Master Togo: "Whatever it was that infected my old friend has spread."
- "We must get to the bottom of this."
- "Come."
[edit] Initial dialogue
- Headmaster Vhang
- "Zen Daijun is overrun with the Afflicted. It is good that I am here to protect all of you."
- Master Togo
- "In times of trouble, the people of this valley gather in the main temple to the west. We should seek Yijo there."
- "All right, follow me and stay close. We are in great danger."
[edit] Intermediate dialogue
(When reaching the first pocket of miasma.)
- Master Togo
- "Do you see that purplish glow up ahead? The very air there has become sickened. Avoid it, lest you catch some disease from it."
- Headmaster Vhang
- "If you become diseased, <party leader>, make certain you keep your distance or you will infect us all."
(When reaching the first Shrine of Zunraa.)
- Master Togo
- "Ring the bell at any of the shrines in this area to summon Zunraa, the guardian of this valley."
- "You can take the lead now. I will follow you and watch your progress."
(When ringing the bell at the first shrine.)
- Zunraa
- "For hundreds of years I have watched over this holy valley. If your heart is pure, I will keep your body free of all impurities."
(When reaching the crossroad.)
- Master Togo
- "Zen Daijun temple lies in the valley ahead. We can either travel south through the caves or north past the waterfall...."
- Headmaster Vhang
- "Either path will suit me. The sooner we set out, the sooner I shall wipe this plague from my homeland."
(When reaching the waterfall.)
- Headmaster Vhang
- "We should have brought someone who knows how to fight, Master Togo. There are so many Afflicted creatures here, it will take us some time to kill them all."
- Master Togo
- "It is true that the plague is far worse here than it was at Minister Cho's estate. This may mean the source of the affliction is somewhere in this very valley."
(When reaching the bridge to the temple.)
- Headmaster Vhang
- "Look! The affliction has claimed them all. Even Farmer Xeng Jo has been corrupted. Yijo should have known he could not handle this on his own.
- Master Togo
- "Headmaster Vhang, that is enough! Yijo gave his life protecting those around him. There is no more noble act."
- "I know it is difficult, my friends, but we must put an end to their suffering. They would want us to do so. Let us help their spirits find rest."
(When reaching the temple.)
- Master Togo
- "Look up ahead! That building is engulfed by miasma. Surely the source of the plague lies up there."
- Headmaster Vhang
- "Let us destroy Afflicted Kana, and put an end to this infestation!"
[edit] End Cinematic
- Master Togo:
- "I had hoped that my eyes would not bear witness to this symbol again."
- <party leader>:
- "Master, what is it?"
- Master Togo:
- "This is the harbinger of the deceiver, the mark of the wicked."
- "The guild symbol of Shiro Tagachi."
- <party leader>:
- "The man whose death turned the forest to stone and the sea to jade?"
- Master Togo:
- "The very same."
- "This does not bode well for Cantha."
- "We must head to the mainland and get to the root of this evil before it can..."
- "Well, let us not think about that yet."
- "He will no doubt be making his way to Cantha shortly."
- "If this symbol means what I think it does, then we could all be in great danger."
- "I must find my brother in Kaineng City. He will want to know of this."
- "You will come after and meet me."
- "Talk to First Mate Xiang to book your passage to the mainland."
- "He will get you to the other side safely."
[edit] Notes
- This mission is required for foreign characters in order to be able to enter Vizunah Square (Local Quarter).
- The purple gas at the last boss, Kana, is actually inert gas, not miasma. It does not affect a player's health, so the players can enter it freely.
