The game needs to take into consideration the laws of physics. It would add vast depth to the environment and gameplay, ill give you some examples:

  •  The elements should have an impact on the surroundings, for example elementalists would have the chance to freeze/burn/flood the environment hence making the terrain work for them. Like freezing a "bridge" over a lake or melting rock to make tunnels for other to go through, flooding a dustbowl making it a mud pit.
  •  The classes would be tied into their element so to speak, the ranger would have an advantage in the jungle/forrest the fire elemetalist would be at home at the lava pits etc.
Why this is a good idea
  •  It would make the game more diverse, giving it additional depth and taking it out of the scripted/pre-determined game style.
  •  It would make people use their creative side, the game would be more intuitive.
  •  The environment would become more dynamic.
Why it may not work out
  •  If implemented so it unbalances the game or gives an advantage some particular way of playing the game
