Guild Wars 2 Suggestions

(Discussion)

The Display Damage to Armor - the game needs to implement them. At least to some extent, the metal for examples needs to get dents, clothes have to rip and shread the same applies to flesh etc.

The unrealism in effects - id like to see an area frozen/burning when the appropriate spell is cast. Id also like to "feel" being dazed or blind with appropriate effects on my display. The engine should also support dynamic effect/damage models to the characters. For example when a fireball misses me but manages to touch my arm, it should light on fire not my entire body etc. The attacks should cause damage to armor and other items that are equipped at the moment. The effects should be acted out. The conditions for example, if im crippled it like to see the arrow/slash in my leg and when the time of the condition ends id like that arrow/removed removed (pulled out or healed by a monk etc). The dismemberment should be that (why so sad assassin, got no hands? aww). That also applies to bleeding etc. The critical attacks should be also more dramatic and more risky for example when performing a potentially fatal move on an opponent the opponent could counter. Imagine a an assassin jamming his dagger into a warriors armor only to find out its stuck and have himself killed by the not-so-happy swordsman by impaling the poor assassin with a sword.

Multiplayer combos - it would not hurt if the multiplayer/co-op got a nudge. There should be vast advantages in working in perfect sync with your team/guildmates. For example why not have a feature that allows the players with same skill to team up when chanting or casting. Like 3 fire mages casting an expandin ball of fire to engulf the whole opposing team while the other team desperately tries to get to the mages to stop them.

Attacking and Defending - the should be an option that the attacks and skills could be turned from static actions to dynamic actions involving user imput to make them more effective. For example when you activate a skill it gives you the opportunity to perform a certain action, to really make it happen you have to perform additional tasks, like swinging your melee weapon in a certain way or swinging your staff in a certain pattern+uttering the right words etc.

Implementation and the bottom line - to implement most of the suggestions in the game it should have probably parental control built into it for gore/blood/violence so the children could still play it and for the grown ups to be able to enjoy it as well. And the bottom line would be that the game needs to be more dynamic and more involving. The player needs to be taken into the game and his/her actions behind the computer need to matter more, it should be only point and click. The reflexes and hand-eye coordination need to matter more.

Why this is a good idea
  •  If implemented correctly it would be appealing to a much wider range of gamers (mature people, if the reflexes matter more maybe even FPS people)
  •  It would make people more involved with the game, GW1 boiled down to pressing T and space for PvP and C and space for PvE (sorry if im a little harsh)
  •  Would allow people to be more creative and "think on their feet", hence having a positive impact on the players themselves.
Why it may not work out
  •  The biggest problem i see is if for some reason the developers dont balance it right or create alternatives to people who dont have the supperior reflexes or are handicaped for example the ideas would damage the game instead of improving on it. The game features should be as optional as possible so everyone could have the GW2 experience they want without compromising the integrity of the game
  •  Dynamic content is very hard to implement in a balanced/controlled way, the devs might not have the time/will and/or resources to pull it off
  •  Might be a problem for players who desire a completely arcade-like experience
  • Adding blood and gore with corresponding parental controls adds a lot of needless programming and hassle. Save everyone the trouble and leave Guild Wars 2 bloodless/goreless. Besides, my characters would be too pretty to be mutilated.
