Players should be alowed to play single class character if they want it. This kind of character should have all let us say, all 10 slots (instead od 8 in GW1) reserved for its class, and would have bonus on its two primary attributes. Also, there should be a dual class, where player can have secondary class after reaching some predisposed level (maybe lvl 10) and that would give character posibility to have 7 slots for primary and 3 for secondary profession, and bonus on one attribute in primary class and one in secondary. At the end, you should be able to create multiclass character from beginning of the game, which would have 5 slots for one class and 5 for other.

This way, there will be more diversity, and every player could find its own style of gameplay, taken that every class-mod would have positive and negative influance. While single class characters would be unable to use much of ingame skills, they would build skills faster. Dual Class would be usefoul for characters skilled in one class, but with need of extra help or customisation, but will take more time to buff each skill. At the end, multiclass character would have greater choice in combat and/or magic, but would need to be played by dedicated and passionate gamer to reach any level of power.

ADnD has something like this, and it works :)

Why this is a good idea
  •   More diversity in personalisation and gameplay
  •   No need to have 2 classes if you use skills from only one
  •   Different path for different characters, and more replay value
Why it may not work out
  •   Complicates stuff for developers... but hay, they are building jump, so this will be piece of cake
