From the official Guild Wars 2 forum:

"We want to give you a heads up: Starting with the new WvW rotation tomorrow, we will limit the free World transfer to one transfer every 24h. This should address some of the unwanted WvW exploits we have seen, while still giving people the opportunity to switch a server to play with their friends."

I've been playing WvWvW for the past week. I agree with the assessment that something needs to be done to address the abuse identified in the quote above. However, I also find that free world transfers are going a long way towards building a sense of community and allowing a greater degree of interaction between the game's player population outside of WvWvW. It would be a shame to lose that on account of closing a loophole in WvWvW.

Here's what I suggest:

Continue to allow free world transfers as often as players want. However, program it so that a player must choose a single server to represent at the beginning of each WvWvW rotation.

For example, assume a player attempts to cue up to enter WvWvW at the beginning of a match. They will be presented a dialog informing them that if they enter the map they've chosen, the server they're currently on will be locked as the world they represent for the entire WvWvW match. If they wish to represent a different world, they will have to cancel the option to cue for the world they're currently on, transfer to the world they wish to represent, and then enter the cue there. Once cued, they are locked into that world choice for the remainder of the match (1 week, 2 weeks, etc.). This requirement to choose which WvWvW world to represent will reset with each match reset.

The player is still free to transfer to any other world as often as they like and play any aspect of the game they want on those other servers except WvWvW. If they want to play WvWvW, they can only do so from the server they chose at the beginning of the current match. Win-win. Especially when you consider that the solution offered in the quote above doesn't really stop the abuse; it just slows it down or forces those guilty of this behavior to come up with new strategies for defeating it.

Thank you for reading.
