Feedback:User/Previously Unsigned/Automatically record drop rate to wiki in game

From Guild Wars Wiki

While submitting some drop rate information for the Chest of the Slaver in Hard Mode, I realized how sparse it was. There was only 1 other recorded drop!

Solution[edit]

What if the game could automatically send data to the wiki about what drops while you play? It would include everything - what falls from foes, what comes from chests/presents, salvage research, etc. This would supercharge the wiki, just imagine how many chests are being opened every day lt alone everything else stated. We would have a ridiculous amount of statistics after just days!

Also consider when new campaigns or content is released: if this was to be implemented, we would get information about drop rates for new content almost literally as it's used. Unless you mine the dat, there is no faster method.

Technical aspects[edit]

Thinking how this could be coded and further implemented, I have several ideas:

1. This would a user configurable option that is turned off by default.

The very idea of the game sending out information will be controversial. Some will wonder if there is more than being reported than we're told or others will wonder how unique keys work (if it could tie wiki accounts to characters). In either situation, they would want to not use the feature. When the game is first run, turning it on/off would be one of the steps in initial configuration.

2. Data is sent out only at specific times (any of these)

    1. When not in combat
    2. When sitting in an outpost, not waiting to enter something
    3. When Guild Wars is closed
    4. When Guild Wars is started (if the crashed and didn't have a chance to send like normally)

3. Option to link with a wiki account There would be anonymous data if you didn't log in, but as I'm doing things, I'd like my contributions linked to me.
