Feedback:User/Shai Halud/Make Enemies Act and Talk According to the Habits of Thier Group/Race..

In all likelihood has at least occurred to you, the devs, but that aside I propose that the actions and dialogue of the enemies in GW2 reflect the lore about them. I supposed this was already being done and probably it is, but in one of the recent Engineer videos (the Grenade Satchel one) the Skritt are heard talking in a distinctly human way. Not only are their voices low and slow, but they speak all in complete sentences. Not that they would be incapable of speaking this way in a group, but would they do it speaking to each other? I like how the conversation changes suject on a dime seemingly without provocation, but from the lore one might have supposed their conversation of

"Tomorrow we'll take this stuff to the caves. You feeling a bit twitchy? I know I am."

"Hey, guess what? I'm a her, too"

"Really? I didn't realize -"

"Hey, you smell something?"

to sound a little more like

"Stuff - caves - take - TOMORROW! I twitch - you?"

"I, a HER."

""YES?"

"Smell, SMELL!"

The action side is a bit more tricky, but let's put it this way. One of my chief complaints about "Halo: Reach" was enemy AI. The Grunts are practically mythic holy warriors filled with fire and zeal while the Elites are cover-mongers and experts at dodging bullets, while the Jackals are invincible juggernauts. This of course completely contradicts everything we knows about their races. You may learn well from their mistakes as well as their successes in earlier games of the same series. By the same token though, Centaurs who are not valiant, Skritt who are not covetous, Grawl who are not stupid, and Krait who are not vicious in battle all essentially are breaking character in the middle of the act. Let their style of attack be directed by the character of their races, unless it goes against their personal character (if they are characters in the story). The Centaurs shall not run away (except if feigning), Skritt shall not hold off stealing, Grawl shall not interrupt or dodge well, Krait shall attack constantly, even at the expense of their lives. If my own depiction of how these races should act in battle be deficient then let your own understanding direct you. Just understand that, while breaks in character will not escape the criticism, faithful depiction will not struggle to find admirers.
