Just great -.-[edit]

I'd have loved to see him as an Arachnid, as the lore might hint about. But no, ArenaNet doesn't care about the lore one bit :( - J.P.User J.P. sigicon.pngTalk 06:52, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Dude, they just brought back a fallen GOD. Paddymew 10:17, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
He looks bad. They should have at least make him look cool, but no! Let's render Skeleton Warrior! Titani Uth Ertan 11:42, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
The lore never ever hinted to Dhuum being anything in particular. (95.109.102.252 18:56, 21 November 2009 (UTC))

I think it makes sense... he's the grim reaper...-63.16.29.175 23:19, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Lore never directly hints to Dhuum's appearance, however, if one were to look at Dhuum's minions (or just simply those who follow him - even prior to the Skeletons of Dhuum's addition), and then think of how the gods' avatars (NPCs not the skills) have a smilar appearance of what the god is depicted as (excluding Lyssa and Melandru), and then notice the insectoid statues which have no known origin, then look at The Spider's Heart and Harvestman's Lair, and then recall how Abaddon usurped his predecessor, then how Kormir usurped Abaddon, one can come to five conclusions: First, there was an entire pantheon of gods prior for the current six (and Abaddon). Second, these gods were insectoid in look and followers. Third, the statues depicts one of these fallen gods. Fourth, Arachnia is one of these gods. And fifth, based on half of Dhuum's followers, Dhuum is either insectoid - thus part of this pantheon - or ghostly/skeletal. Anet went with the second. Both ideas follow lore. And do note, that Arachnia, those two landmarks, and various spots in the Realm of Torment are unconfirmed to be canon - that is, the lore behind the landmarks for the locations. Sure, we see what appears to be Abaddon's Dead Children, but is that lore? Sure Arachnia's body may be seen, but is it Arachnia, or is the lore behind the land removed? We cannot tell. And due to Dhuum's appearance, which I was really wishing to be insectoid (perhaps something like this - which was originally a flagbearer for what appears to be Menzies army seen here - and by some, who didn't see the second linked concept art, thought was Dhuum for a while), it appears those two landmarks' lore is not canon. -- Konig/talk 04:23, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

What did I miss? Gods have look-alike minions? Where did I miss Melandru's tree people, Grenth's zombies, Balthazar's paladins? The only one I recall being similar is Margonites->Abaddon, but he made them. If you call that "They're your foes", well, then fuck, we should be on a rampage against the Gods if they send level 28 minions to destroy us. Titani Uth Ertan 05:18, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
His face looks rather buglike to me, particularly the eyes. User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 05:21, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Titani, there are more similarities than just Margonites->Abaddon. The Voice of Grenth looks like the constant murals of Grenth - hooded with a animal skull (funny how similar Dhuum and Grenth are, no?). The Avatar of Dwayna is an angel - like the depictions of Dwayna. For Balthazar, we have the Priest of Balthazar and the Eternals - similarity? Human(oid) with heavy armor and with the priests, a spiked helm - which is also seen with the Avatar of Balthazar. Melandru and Lyssa, and Kormir, all lack enough followers to use them as reference - but 4 gods out of 7 (excluding Dhuum from the numbers), and then those other references above, kind of point to what I was saying based on logic and probability. -- Konig/talk 05:32, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah... those are their spirits-on-earth. What did you expect? It's like making a God with a coat and its "appearance on earth" will wear a coat. That's one.
So grats, there are... yeah, exactly 1 follower of Lyssa, Melandru, Balthazar, Kormir and Dwayna (sorry if I forgot anyone :P). So yeah, there are look alikes of Grenth in his dominion. They're Gods, they should have masses of believers and devoted followers, and I haven't seen any angel army yet. Titani Uth Ertan 05:38, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
The Avatars do not have to be in their image - after all, do plants, whose creation is credited to Melandru, look like a woman? Nope. The dervish skills are in their image, and the other followers we've seen are in his image as well. Even if those we see are not all of their followers, they are most (again, exluding Kormir, Lyssa, and Melandru). And you don't see any "army of angel" - oh wait, fallen angels - because we don't go to Dwayna's realm and there would be no reason to have them come to our realm. -- Konig/talk 06:37, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Your point being? Titani Uth Ertan 12:10, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
This whole discussion started on people bringing up the theory on Dhuum being insectoid. I was stating how there was support for that, and for Dhuum being more skeletal. Now I see your just trolling because you clearly don't know why I was stating the above. -- Konig/talk 20:37, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
I don't troll in arguments. About your point 2 comments above: What is it? If I think it's what it is, you're just strengthening my point. Titani Uth Ertan 05:13, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

It's a dervish. Woo. They could have done better. That aside, I want to face him some day.-- User Vanguard VanguardLogo.pnganguard 05:26, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

It sort of makes sense for him to be a dervish, he looks a LOT and pretty much has the same job as the popular Western image given to Death, meaning the Grim Reaper, who is usually depicted as a scythe wielding skeleton wearing a robe much like the dervish armor + hood.
