The Knights of Shiny Penny Castle is a guild formed of players who are friends outside the game. The founding members of this guild just happened to love Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day's television and web-based projects.
Etymology
The name of the guild is comprised of four references to projects featuring either Felicia Day or Nathan Fillion in prominent roles that happened to fit together well:
- Knights Of
- While somewhat ambiguous, "Knights of" is a reference to the "Knights of Good" from Felicia Day's web series The Guild
- Shiny
- "Shiny" is a reference to Firefly, the short-lived cult classic space western that starred Nathan Fillion as Malcolm Reynolds. The term is slang for "cool".
- Penny
- "Penny" is the name of Felicia Day's character in Dr. Horrble's Sing-Along Blog. She also happens to be the love interest of Captain Hammer, Nathan Fillion's character.
- Castle
- Castle is the name of Nathan Fillion's role in the ABC police-comedy-drama of the same name and is the only direct reference to a character played by Nathan Fillion in the guild name.
Primary Purpose
The KSPC was founded as a way to allow friends to cooperate on PvE missions that would either be too difficult or less fun being played solo. To date, the guild has not participated in the PvP aspect of the game.
Other guild activities have included spontaneous dance sessions.
Recruitment & Contact Information
Due to the nature of the guild, recruitment has, to date, been based on relationships outside of the game, so becoming a member of the guild or getting in touch with the guild would require one of the following:
- Knowing a guild member.
- Spotting a player with either the Guild cape or the KSPC tag and asking.
As the guild gets larger, more information regarding who and how to contact members about recruitment will be added.
