Phoenix of the West is a medium sized, active guild that has existed since spring 2008. It was built on the ashes of another guild called Blades of the West, and retains Pharon Strom (usually playing his Monk character Margon Strom now!), Ilieron Mallenon and Stella Chianti from that earlier guild. The Guild contains members of diverse ages and backgrounds, and from all over Europe and North America. The purpose of the Guild is to help each other in missions and quests, and also to help members of our allied guilds.

We tend not buy and sell among guild members. If you need an item or a crafting material, ask and somebody will give it to you if they have spare. Likewise, players are asked to consider whether that new item they just found might be useful to someone else in the guild. eg "A 10-22 Sword... Ordred Strom is a warrior, I wonder if will be any use to him?" Alliance members are often interested in buying that perfect weapon though!

Our Guild Hall is now fully equipped. We share the TeamSpeak server used by Ridirian Guides.

The Guild has mainly been a PvE guild until fairly recently, but there has been a growing interest in PvP over the last few months. We are encouraging people to try PvP so we can form a strong Guild team.

Conduct

Players are expected to keep in mind that the membership contains people of a wide range of ages, so topics of conversation and language used should be moderate on the guild, alliance and team tags. Players are expected to treat each other with courtesy. Everyone in the guild, and in the alliance are doing their best, but everyone makes mistakes sometimes, so just accept it. Also, avoid being a "good build fanatic". A helpful "have you tried this combination of skills" is better than the "your build is rubbish" style. (Getting other players in a team to ping their builds can be a handy way of stealing their ideas, by the way!)

Recruitment

We are actively recruiting new members who like the "we are here to help each other" philosophy of the guild. There are no age requirements or experience requirements. We are sympathetic to new players...everybody was a new player once. Players are not required to play regularly, but players will be kicked after 3 months of inactivity, since it will be assumed they have stopped playing. Players who leave the guild can always contact the guild leader Pharon Strom, or any of the officers for re-admission. Players who have left the guild are generally welcomed back. (This happens when they discover how much nicer we are!)

To become an officer, you must be an active member, be ready to help others in the guild on quests and missions, and have earned the Guild's trust. Officers are usually demoted after a period of inactivity. Alliance

We are part of the Alliance lead by the Ridirian Guides. The Alliance guilds contain friendly, helpful people who have a wealth of experience in Guild Wars. The Alliance organises all sorts of events and is particularly helpful if you have a mission you are having difficulty with, or want to have a go fighting against human players (PVP) rather than against the enemies generated by the game itself (PVE).
