Rich Mahogany was formed by Recna Mor Cena on 16th October 2010. Halls of Rich Mahogany was created in the Guild Wars 2 Beta, on Magus Falls. The Guild plans to continue into GW2. She was previously guild leader of Ridirian Guides,[RGA], a guild created by Vinny Ridira. The guild split after Vinny Ridira indicated a preference for solo play.
- We are hero-friendly.
- Our guild hall is fully equipped with all the traders.
- We have professionally hosted TeamSpeak servers. We encourage all members to get headsets and used TeamSpeak actively.
- We are a relaxed guild with no onerous requirements. We do ask you to be polite and treat other members with respect.
- Membership covers a spectrum of ages and we have many women in the guild and alliance. Please keep your language and topics of conversation appropriate to a general audience.
Recruitment
- We do not actively recruit. However, we are always open to like-minded new members.
- We are currently not terribly active, due to GW2. However, we do pop in regularly and have a facebook page to arrange events.
- We do not actively exclude youngsters, but we want members who behave maturely. Our youngest member was 12 - she has grown up some now.
- We have members from around the world: Europe, US, Australia and New Zealand.
- There are no faction farming requirements, and the only reason to donate faction to the guild is to build your title faster.
- We like to know your first name and the country you're from. We also like you to join the forum or facebook group and teamspeak. We want a community of friends playing together, not a big faceless guild.
- If you have spare low-end materials and superfluous weapons, we have a culture of sharing.
- Members are regretfully kicked after three months of inactivity. We hate to do this, but if you've stopped playing, do you need a guild? You can always rejoin if you take up the game again. This will probably fall away on 25 August 2012.
- We have a facebook group is at [1]. Search for Rich Mahogany Alliance.
Officer Policy
The first question many new members ask is "Can I be an officer?"
Being an officer in our guild is not a title, nor a reward for joining, it's a job. Members expect officers to be there for them, to be able to answer all questions and to help at (almost) the drop of a hat. Officers put the game play needs of others before their own. Officers validate our members.
If you really want to be an officer, here's how to become one:
- Be active. Play regularly. Play with your fellow members. Officers are demoted after two weeks of inactivity unless we have reasons for your extended absence, in which case it will be a month.
- Complete all the campaign storylines so that you can help in any mission. You can use different characters across different campaigns.
- Get all the outposts. If somebody wants to get to Grotto, you have to know how to get them there. You don't need Master Cartographer, just a good road map.
- When someone asks for help in Guild or in Alliance, raise your hand and say "I can do that", assuming of course that you can. Helping members is the primary function of officers at HoM.
- Be polite. Keep your language PG-rated at all times, no matter how much someone irritates you.
- Look for the best in members and learn to tell them they are awesome.
If you come in with all these requirements, and you want to be an officer, we need to see you in action for a while. We have many members who are officer material who prefer to be ordinary members, for reasons of their own. Newly-promoted officers will be on probation until it is clear they can cope with the job.
Having said all that, now that most guild members are playing in GW2 or elsewhere, any long-standing member who was active in the past week is an officer, with no duties.
Events
We no longer hold regular events. We do have adhoc events based on Hall of Monuments needs of members of the guild and alliance.
