Walkthrough[edit]

Start from Ran Musu Gardens and take the northern exit. There are three peasants whom you have to save: one is in the Menagerie, one is in the Foh Wing, and one is on the island to the northeast. You must kill all the mobs near each peasant for the quest to progress - if you don't get the update dialogue, keep hunting.

Most Afflicted mobs in this area are groups of four and can be taken down by a moderately powerful party, but the mobs are close together and their patrol patterns can overlap. Careful pulling is essential to avoid being overwhelmed, especially for the first few groups near the start.

After rescuing the first peasant the player can choose between two paths on the way to the second peasant: The short northern path or the longer and more difficult southern path.

  • The shorter northern path is filled with yet more Sickened animals.
  • The longer southern path, which heads south before U-turning back up north, is filled with Afflicted, which are tougher than the animals with more diverse skills.

The player should pick the path that is easiest for their party's design. After saving the second peasant, the player has two options when saving the last peasant: the beach path and the island path.

Hard mode[edit]

  • Eliminate any Assassins first - they will likely shadow step to your party and away from their allies.
  • Pull each group of Afflicted, this will assist in moving any Ritualists away from their spirits and can help avoid over-aggro due to close placement of Afflicted groups.
  • Spirit spammers and minion masters are very helpful, since you are limited to four party members.
  • Proceed slowly. If using spirits, wait for them to recharge so you can setup spirit walls.
  • If using heros, follow the yellow path - the other route has points where the heroes will not listen to flags.
  • Consider consumables such as Death Penalty removal and/or summoning stones.

Dialogue[edit]

Initial dialogue[edit]

Initiate Zei Ri
"Several people have vanished from the estate that once belonged to Minister Cho. I'm not sure what would have driven them to go there: that area is considered to be little more than a lost cause. It was one of the first outbreaks of the Afflicted plague and has carried a heavy stigma because of it. Regardless of what caused their actions, we cannot abandon them to their consequences.
"Will you join me in searching Minister Cho's Estate for survivors?"
Yes Accept: "There's no time to waste. Let's go."
No Decline: "We're probably already too late."
Ask Ask: "Time is of the essence. We need to head to Minister Cho's Estate as soon as possible."

Intermediate dialogue[edit]

On approaching the first peasant:

Initiate Zei Ri: "I'm positive that I heard something. We need to hurry to the menagerie."
Canthan Peasant: "Can anybody hear me? These animals have me trapped!"

After saving the peasant:

Canthan Peasant: "Thanks. Any longer, and I might have been just another set of bones for those things to chew on!"
Initiate Zei Ri: "I'm glad you're safe. Hold tight. More of our forces should be coming through. They will escort you back."

On approaching the second peasant:

Initiate Zei Ri: "There's no mistaking it; there's someone still alive nearby. It must be coming from Foh Wing!"
Canthan Peasant: "Get back, you blasted monstrosities! Any closer and I'll kill you three times over!"

After saving the peasant:

Canthan Peasant: "The Ministry of Purity! Please, let me join the fight!"
Initiate Zei Ri: "I like your spirit. Stay here. Some other members should be by soon to assist you. Speak with them."

On approaching the third peasant:

Initiate Zei Ri: "I hear someone calling for help... It sounds like it's coming from the island to the north!"
Canthan Peasant: "Help! They've got me cornered out here!"

After saving the peasant:

Canthan Peasant: "Thank you! I should have known that coming out here was a bad idea. I can't swim!"
Initiate Zei Ri: "You should be safe now. Just wait here, someone will be along to see to you."
Initiate Zei Ri: "It looks like these are all the survivors. Reinforcements will be here soon to clean up anything that reamins of the plague creatures. We can leave that to them; our work here is done."

Reward dialogue[edit]

Initiate Zei Ri
"The Ministry of Purity will handle the remnants of the plague here. In time, maybe this place can be something again. This is just a reminder of Cantha's condition: damaged and weakened. With our strength, we will treat the wounds she has suffered and help her grow into a stronger whole.
"In the meantime, threats still persist on Shing Jea Island. If you are inclined to help, then I suggest you speak with Initiate Tsuriai at Seitung Harbor."

Notes[edit]

Anomaly Anomaly.Quest markers do not display the peasants' locations.
Bug Bug.The final dialogue "our work here is done" can be shown and the quest can still fail. This happens when you lure Afflicted far away from the last peasant and kill this group of Afflicted when the peasant is outside the party area.
